This thing works!
Also checked the updater script!
It just flashes boot.img into SYS/
Great tool for people who don't have PC and can simply flash boot.img of any ROM through this!

I used CWM instead of xrecovery
And you also have wipe data, clear cache & clear dalvik cache before installing .zip from SD card

[Solved] system.img for xperia v

Is it possible to make a system image of the xperia v jb firmware for flashing in bootloader? I tried flashing via flashtool but the phone cannot stay in flash mode. I also tried flashing kernel then installing zip in recovery but i'll just boot into a image with an exclamation mark with a phone beside it. I'm currently on cm10.1 but i really want to go back to stock sony jb. If it is not possible to make img then is there any other way to put stock back into the phone?
Re: [Q] system.img for xperia v
Really? No one knows?

I am wondering why your phone wouldn't stay in flash mode.
Anyway, try to install using Supersport ROM.
Just to make sure: do you actually see an image which shows a triangle with a spanner and screwdriver in it? If so, then you might have to wait for a couple of hours for it to go away. I left it overnight and my battery monitoring widget shows that my V was down for a couple of hours, before booting up and going to the home screen.
Re: [Q] system.img for xperia v
You have to make a .ftf file and flash it.

How do I customise the signature on xda premium app?
Re: [Q] system.img for xperia v
Thanks, I'll try when in have time to risk the phone. Anyway its not the sign youre talking about. Mines just an exclamation mark beside a phone. Fyi if it might help I was trying to flash the stock ftf when flash tool on mac crashed. I suspect a corruption in some partition used by the stock ROM as I can use any custom ROM but not stock based ROMs. Any ideas?

Ahh, no
But it will download the latest FW for you and then you can create a FTF file using the instructions from the all in one thread, then flash that.
If you have issues with flashmode then you mus wait for flashtool to tell you to go into flashmode first.
Also, you can flash a stock based rom from the dev section to go back to stock.
Re: [Q] system.img for xperia v
Ok, thanks I'll try the flash tool thing. And flashing stock roms is the thing that doesnt work, as I've said in the op

Yes, but it should work..can you try it again and if it fails can you post the log output from flashtool so we can see the error.
Also, which FTF file are you trying to flash, please provide the link.
Re: [Q] system.img for xperia v
Flashing the boot works, flashing the ROM in recovery works, but booting doesn't. It'll boot to the Sony boot screen with the 'Sony' word on it, then it'll go into the screen with an image of a phone and an exclamation mark. Then it'll reboot and do the same thing and so on. And the ftf is the stock jb ftf from the dev forum
Sent from my Xperia V using xda app-developers app
OK, which stock ftf are you flashing? Please provide the link. I want to know this because I find any ftf files in the dev section for the V.
Also, please post the output from flashtool when you flash the stock ftf.

So i tried again and flashtool aborted the flashing apparently, as seen in the log attached.
Change the name of the file to LT25i_9.1.A.0.490_Singapore.ftf

Also, try redownloading the file.

[Q] build a ftf ??

hi developers
i am wondering if there is a way to copy my entire firmware installed on my z1 with all apps and data and cache and make a ftf of it so that i can root my xperia and when i want to get back to stock i flash my own ftf with all data,apps,cache,etc..i have before root
No its impossible, what you should do is root then make a backup.
You can make a ftf, but it can not include any user apps or user settings
