[Q] [PROBLEM] CM Recovery on LT30P - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Hi guys, this is my first post here, i apologize my grammatical error, i'm not from US/UK
Today i updated my phone with the newest file of cm
(12-20150304-NIGHTLY-mint)
Then, when i needed to flash the new GApps, i decided to make a factory reset because my phone was a little bit slow, then i talked with a friend of mine that knows more than me in android field and he told me that i need to do:
-Data/factory reset
-Wipe system partition
-Wipe dalvik cache
-Wipe chache partition
Now, the new CM recovery has only the "Wipe data/factory reset" and the "wipe cache partition" option...
My question is:
Can i flash the rom (12-20150304-NIGHTLY-mint) and the GAapps with only the DATA RESET and WIPE CACHE PARTITION?
Thank you for the help, and i apologize again my bad english.

Question about wiping before loading ROMs

OK so every ROM that you want to move to requests (requires) that you wipe before you load the new ROM. That makes sense to me as you want a clean install.
My question is, what am I supposed to wipe (Sorry stupid question). I boot to recovery and I have a wipe menu and I have several options:
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe Dalvik-cache
Wipe SD:ext partition
I have two more for wiping stats which I will make an educated guess are not required. Should I wipe everything listed above? Just dalvik cache?

Thanks! Also figured out how to clear up a problem with wiping dalvik that I had by partitioning SD card again.

If you're installing a new rom, ALWAYS do da factory reset, wipe dalvik cache and cache partition!
On the other hand, if you only want to install an "update" (new version) of the SAME ROM you already installed (MIUI for example), you don't need to do factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache is enough, copy and flash the updated rom and enjoy in the new version with all your data/apps/messages etc. there!

can u tell me what is stored in Dalvik cache?
if you're on stock roms, then going to cm/miui, do this:
go Recovery
-wipe dalvik cache
-wipe cache
-wipe data
-install the rom
-then it will reboot automatically(or after installation, reboot) then it will bootloop
-remove battery and put it back in, then do 3 button combo (recovery mode)
then install the rom again,
-optionally install kernels, etc
-reboot.
or if you're coming from a same rom, but new version, you don't have to wipe, just install the new version of rom.
I would recommend to never format boot, if not done correctly it may brick your phone.

Hi, I'm using nitrogen OS on my Redmi note 3. It got updated to 8.1.0(Oreo) through flashing from 8.0.0(Oreo). While doing so I didn't clear the necessary cache like dalvik, system in TWRP. Is it necessary to clear the cache in TWRP while upgrading in the android version?(Though I'm using same AOSP based nitrogen os for 8.0.0 & 8.1.0)

[Q] Wipes and formats

One question, maybe noob ...
When we made flash a new rom from recovery, we made the wipes;
- Wipe cache
- Wipe Dalvik
- Wipe data / factory reset
But
I notice that when you make the wipe all data / factory reset, the system partition is not formatted, it influences the functioning of the new rom?
For sure, I always do the formats in "mount and storage".
- Format cache
- Format data
- Format system
Thank you! Hugs! :silly:

I only
- Wipe Dalvik
- Wipe data / factory reset
I thought when I do wipe data, then I delete the cache.
Sometimes I wipe SD for delete cache & thash of deleted apps.

Ok.
And the system partition?
When you wipe data / factory reset, the system partition is not formatted.
As I know the main files are in the system partition.
Ty for support.

Extremely noob TWRP question

So I just started using TWRP and its awesome and I wanted to a simple cache partition wipe like you know the wipe cache partition on a stock recovery, so I was wondering if I should just select the Cache option in the Wipe menu or both the Cache and the Dalvik Cache?
i always wipe both, cache and dalvik - never hurts.
Thanks.

How to Wipe Cache Partition m

Sorry if this has been posted or asked already, I tried to look up and couldn't find any.
So where on earth Wipe Cache Partition is on Nokia 7 Plus? I did tried to go into recovery, can wipe data but there is no wipe cache partition. There was an another user who didn't had the option either so I guess 7 Plus don't or is it hiding under something?
Thanks.
