[Q] Lumia 1520 RM-937 with RM-938 FW? - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I recently purchased a Lumia 1520 RM-937 to use on my TMobile account. I was disappointed to find out that I cannot get 4g LTE speeds with this variant. I have learned that the AT&T variant RM-938 supports the bands that would allow me to get the full LTE bandwidth. I was wondering, if I flash the RM-938 ROM Firmware should it work or is the RF hardware actually different? I have already flashed 059V3... NAM version, which turned out to be the Canadian version of the RM-938 Firmware. I am stuck on Lumia BLACK version of the WP8 but that's not my biggest concern. I really want the full bandwidth. Also, the Field Test Menu ##3282# doesn't work on RM-937 with either Firmware.
Should I just sell this and buy RM-938? I wonder if I can put Anroid on Lumia 1520.

Lumia 1520 RM-937 International
Were you ever able to figure this out?
I also bought a Lumia 1520 RM-937 International version. For some reason it's stuck in airplane mode. I thought maybe after upgrading to W10M it would fix the problem with airplane mode - it didn't. I have T-Mobile so I already knew no LTE. I read about a few hardware fixes and tried booting the phone while plugged into my Surface Pro. It fixed the airplane problem temporarily. The airplane mode problem returned after a reboot. It didn't really matter since I was only getting an H connection which really was terrible.
So, did you successfully flash your Lumia 1520 to a different RM with success?
If so, did you get LTE?

you need to flash the "plat.bin " in mass storage mode under the desired RM and flash the full firmware

Galaxy S Advance Network Issues

Hi,
I got s advance for my wife 2 weeks ago thinking its the best sub 20k handset in india at the moment. First 2 weeks all was well. But since last 3 days she has been complaining about network loss issues as reported by all here. I even tested it yesterday and put it to gsm only mode. But it seems its still there.
Any body here facing this issue? I googled this and it seems there are a lot of people complaining about the same.

Yes all facing the same problem with galaxy s advance in India. The issue diminishes if you switch to GSM only mode by disabling 3G..
All of us should call and flood samsung with complaints. As of now they are pretending that no issue exists with the phone, despite numerous complaints on their own offiicial website.
Yup today I'm also having this problem ....what the hell...the basic feature of phone connectivity is hampered....
Guys there's new kernel version for those having network and battery issues kindly update your device from settings software update ...new kernel 6mb....kindly enjoy the beast now...who couldn't due to batteryy network and lag issues
Ok guys..what I'm writing plz copy and paste to every blog you know of s advance so that people come to know the reality of network error...first of all...there's no network error on this phone...no come to the topic why we get network error than...ok..in India we have 2 types of network one Gsm and one cdma...and those guys who used Android before..and flashed different countries baseband.remember we had new options in network...not cdma or Gsm we had use 2g only...but this phone with Indian baseband has cdma or Gsm...now we all know cdma service like reliance tata indicom and all..if you use that than put phone on cdma mode...otherwise put on Gsm mode..if you using 3g on Gsm or cdma doesn't matter...add some guy asked me that he using 3g so he put it on auto mode...in auto mode your phone connects to Gsm and calls again after call it's search for both cdma and Gsm network but your sin doesn't support cdma bands so network error again now your phone tries for Gsm and locks your phone...but after some time again it searches for cdma...and of you want to check your phone than put your phone only on cdma mode and try to call...you'll get error msg...network not found...guys relax there's no bug..it's just we were confused...and there's lack of communication between the Korean company with real developers and Samsung care..idiots...actually not there fault...they are just dummies ...they've been told to format flash and of world good otherwise send to head office...do guys all doubts clear..and the who sold there phones...the phone wasn't meant for you and kindly mail to that guy who's signing the refund in Samsung that he should communicate with Korean devs and try to learn what's the real problem and we're it is....guys I guess I I've cleared all doubts...regarding network error...which wasn't there...keep smiling keep enjoying the beautiful gift of life...
This is something happens with almost all android devices with 3G... Maybe.... Because even i face this problem on my galaxy ace plus...
Sent from my GT-S7500 using xda premium
it's true... one thing that might help is to turn network on/off a few times in order to get it working properly again... that's what i do... it doesnt work everytime but it's better than nothing, right?
The problem is not there in the stock jellybean update!

Hi SAdvance, can you please tell me which stock JB update did you use? I used Stock JB for Russia and since then whenever I turn on my data network (Airtel, KA) it loses connectivity to the network and toggles in and out of network every 5 seconds. Any suggestions?

[Q] Bricked XT1058 trying to flash tmobile 4.4 - (working again!!!)

I have an XT1058 (Rogers version) bootloader unlocked. Running 100% stock Rogers firmware up to this point.
I tried flashing the tmobile 4.4 using the flashall.bat script.
It was working fine until it got to flashing system.img
It never indicated that it got to transferring the file. Everything just froze. After 30 minutes I gave up and disconnected everything. The power had to be pulled from the computer (Windows XP, USB2.0) as it wouldn't shutdown on its own.
Now to the phone, well its not 100% dead but it seems very close. Holding power and volume down doesn't seem to do anything. Holding power and volume up will display the bootloader unlocked screen, but nothing else. My computer can detect a MTP device but its very very slow with the connection. Running adb does not detect any device, at one point the computer did detect a new adb device and installed drivers but I still wasn't able to communicate with the phone.
What are the next steps I should take?
I would plug into a wall charger for a bit to charge it up then rsd.

Battery was 100% when I started. So far no matter what I do RSD doesn't see any device. I do get a Motorola MTP device driver that wants to install over and over.
It also does show a Mot Composite ADB Interface.
Try holding power and volume down for about 10 seconds then hold both volumes and power should bring you to bootloader menu
OK, its alive again. I knew if I posted in a panic it would come back to life (isn't that how these things always work?)
I kept trying key combinations and finally I got to fastboot. From there I reflashed with back to Rogers firmware with RSD Lite.
So crisis averted, do I try the tmobile 4.4 again?

Oh hells yeah! If it ends up working, let us know if it enables AWS 1700/2100 bands that you can get on the TMobile model! I'm dying to buy that damn Roger's phone, but I think I'd rather suffer said death than get on another 2 years with them.

OK, tried it again, this time it didn't hang and completed successfully.
So that really is the big question isn't it, will it happen to enable WCDMA on 1700/2100?
Sadly, the answer is no, so far anyway. I have performed the network scan several time in an area where my wife's iphone 5 can see both WCDMA providers on 1700/2100 (Wind and Mobility) So it really looks like its 100% hardware based in terms of the bands it supports. Which makes sense but it really seems like the phone should be able to do it since it can do 1700/2100 LTE.

I can't say that I do. I tried various combos for 20 minutes or so. The same problem must have happened to others before. If you're in the same situation I'd try what shane1 suggested earlier in the thread.
Try an Wind or Mobilicity Nano SIM

Hey Steve-x!
Have you tried using an Wind or Mobilicity Nano SIM Card? I'm asking because I have an Galaxy S4 Google Edition (factory unlocked and factory 1700/2100 AWS enable for 3G) and if I try to performe the network scan using an Rogers SIM Card, I can not see Wind or Mobilicity, even if I force the WCDMA 1700 option into ServiceMode. I'd try an Wind or Mobilicity SIM to make sure!
I haven't tried a sim card from Wind or Mobilicity. I did do a network scan with no sim card at all though. I can't say for certain with Android/Moto X but the iphone 5 finds all five networks. I won't be buying a sim from Wind or Mobilicity to find out for certain, neither network is good enough for me.

You could go to any Wind Store and try their Nano SIM! You don't have to buy one!

[Q] LTE not working

I've recently bought an S3 GT-I9305 second hand. Everything works fine accept I can't get 4G. (my sim gets 4G in another phone).
The phone isn't stock - it's got CWM recovery (5.something) and Supreme Rom 5.0
I 've tried cautiously poking around in service mode (*#197328640#). What's most concerning is that the LTE debug screen shows all blank values. Does this mean that the LTE hardware is dead or is it worth me flashing a different ROM / MODEM?
Thanks in advance.
Keith

Need to root for 3G/4G lock.. nonsense?

Dear Members!
I recently switched from Lumia 630 DS to this nice phone, P8 Lite.
Sadly, in 2016, there are phones with inability to maintain data+call over 2G.
So, when i make/receive calls, network gone cause phone falls back to 2G.
Sure, no problem, let's set it to 3G/4G... Wait! You can't...
It's a shame that you need to unlock bootloader, and root your phone,
just to hack settings.db to switch 3G/4G only..
Anyone here, can tell me what stores these options, and where?
I would like to modify original rom, to let choose 3G/4G,
To help others not to go through this long procedure to lock phone only 3G/4G.
Because if we can have a stock rom with ability to choose 3G/4G,
Users just can install that rom without need of BL unlock + root.
I achieved this using adb:
settings put system preferred_network_mode 12

I have tried Xposed, but it disables the theming, which is ugly.
And to be honest, dont want to have a framwork just to achieve a simple trick.
I know that this way we need root. But i meant a modified stock rom, which includes the option 3G/4G.
The settings app says that selected mode is 3G/4G but when I open selection it shows:
Automatic 4G/3G/2G
Automatic 3G/2G
3G Only
2G Only
Obviously none of them selected, because it's not in the list that i set.
I need to add somehow the Automatic 3G/4G to the list.
Then just need to flash modified stock rom, and root if you want, but not must.

Thanks, i will try it. I used the Intelli3G with theme-disabled xposed, but I was so disappointed with themes, so immediately restored the nand backup
But the main goal is still to have Auto 3G/4G incorporated in stock rom. Maybe better to write to Huawei to include in stock?

The shame is that 2013 device Lumia 630 does the dual data+call mode over 2G. I think all WP do this, but new android devices still not.
So the 3G/4G lock is just a half-solution to the problem with (most of) android devices don't or don't want to support 2G voice+data. And the annoying is that, even if you are in good 3G coverage, it drops to 2G in seconds after call established. So no matter what is falls back to 2G. My engineer friend said its by design to keep 3G cells free. Shame. Maybe this will be solved if 2G cells shutdown
I am curious that it's a radio chip inability or just android design fail? Because i think the os disables data channel.
But don't know if hardware supports it or not. Here in Hungary, my network supports it from the very first time, i know from an engineer.
But the first (and only) phone saw that works this way is the Lumia.

[Solved] Galaxy S20 FE Connectivity Issues. No Data or Can't Make Outgoing Calls

Summary Issue: Starting in March 2022, some Samsung Galaxy S20 FE devices started having connectivity issues with carriers. This specifically impacted my phone, a US Cellular-branded phone S20 FE 5G. Specifically, this was a problem for the SM-G781U model number. At some point in March, a samsung update was released that created a bug/connectivity issue affiliated with making calls or connecting to the carrier data networks.
Resolution: This issue can be resolved by flashing stock Samsung Firmware to move you to the SM-G781U1 model number. You do not need to be rooted/have your bootloader unlocked.
Skills needed: low
Note: you will need a Windows computer w. admin privileges
Steps
Download Bifrost to download the official Samsung firmware. Model: SM-G781U1 Version: XAA (this is the carrier-non-specific version)
Download the patched version of Odin
Use Odin to flash SM-G781U1 firmware to the phone. You do not need a bootloader unlock (takes around 15 minutes)
Fixed.
this is the kind of post this forum doesn't have enough of.
Thanks! My parents have been going nuts with this over the weekend. They have an unlocked T-Mo version used on AT&T. My mom took it to a store today and the idiot blamed it on the ROM and tried to sell them new phones.
I'm going to send this to my dad and have them try. I'll report back.
Thanks!
How do you get it in to download mode? I've tried the methods I've found online, but I keep ending up at the recovery screen.
NM got it.
I got it into download mode and sent the files. Log shows two files it sent, then it's just sitting there. It's been almost 15 minutes and nothing's really happening. Did I do something wrong?
Wonder if it's a Windows 11 issue.
Hi I recently purchased a refurbished phone and it won't connect to the mobile data. The first one i had do this I sent back. But now the 2nd won't either. This one says the model # is SM-G781V. Does the instructions you posted work for this model or is there something else I have to do?
Sometimes quick fix is toggle airplane mode on and off. You can reset network settings. Also look up your providers APN settings and be sure you add them in your phone and select that one.
