Restore Stock Recovery - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I unlocked, rooted and installed TWRP last month. Now i wanted to restore the recovery to stock recovery but unable to no matter what I do. I have tried doing the following,
1) restored to google factory stock using skipsoft android toolkit
2) adb flash recovery and system from 5.0.1
after completing each of the above i went back into recovery just to find the android figure with the exclamation
Please let me know if I am doing something wrong
thank you

android with the exclamation point is the stock recovery. Hold vol up and press power to enter.

Please help

I rooted my HTC One international and flashed Android revolution. At the end it said "you may have lost root, do you want to fix?" I selected Yes and now my phone is in a constant reboot where its shows HTC logo and then switches off and on and shows entering recovery and off and on again back to HTC logo.
How do I force it to switch off and are there any other recovery options?
Entirely wrong section, but try holding down the power and volume down key. When it shuts down keep holding the volume down key. Should get you to the bootloader. If it just keeps rebooting no matter what, when it shuts off hold the volume down key to get to boot loader. I've had a similar thing happen. If those don't work you can PM me and I'll try throwing some other options out there.
Thank you so much, that worked!
Sorry about posting in the wrong area. I was freaking out a bit about the boot loop and in that worried frame of mind I posted in the wrong place.
Back to the problem, I can get into the bootloader now and select fastboot and my computer can connect to the phone.
At the top of the bootloader it shows ***Tempered*** and ***unlocked***.
I re-flashed the recovery but I still can't get into recovery. It just shows entering recovery then the clockworkmod recovery screen shows for a split second and then it reboots.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

flash a TWRP recovery
I ran "Fastboot erase cache" and now I can enter recovery again.
I tried re-flashing the ARHD ROM which is still on the internal storage but when the phone reboots, it keeps going back into recovery.
I did create a backup of my original ROM before I flashed ARHd but when I go to restore in ClockworkMod, it just says "Could not open directory. No files found"
What should I do?
Ok I re-flashed superuser and then immediately flashed ARHD and now it's booting again.
Very relieved. Thanks for the help.
Mods, please move the thread for me.

dead android w/ red exclamation point

I'm trying to flash the stock recovery so that I can install the 4.4.3 OTA update.
I'm following these steps:
1)Open a command prompt on your PC and change directory to the folder where mfastboot.exe is.
2)At the command prompt type:
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
to flash the stock recovery to your Moto X.
3)After the recovery has been flashed to your Moto X, at the command prompt type:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
to reboot into the bootloader.
When I boot into recovery I get a dead android with a red exclamation point.
Let sit for a minute it eventually boots into KitKat. What is up with this? How can I take the update with this messed up recovery.
I used the stock recovery from the OP in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/xt1053-4-4-3-ota-update-zip-t2772613
please help.

I had a difficult time( for some reason) trying to update to 4.4.3 the same way you are trying. I almost messed up my phone completely. Needless to say, I had to flash back to stock 4.4.2 manually with the help of others. Phone is now updated to 4.4.3 via OTA.

I used these steps.
You will need to download the right file for your phone: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0
And also have mfastboot in platform-tools if you have android-sdk in your pc.

Android in distress ( logo with Exclamation mark) is normal when booting to stock recovery.
Press and hold the VOL UP key for 10-15 seconds. While still holding the VOL UP key tap and release the POWER key. That should put you in Recovery stock recovery.
Ugg. I'm dumb. Reading through the link you posted I realized the "Dead Android with Red Exclamation Point" is actually the stock recovery. I just need to hold the Vol up button for a few seconds and then tap the power button. Hmm. How did I not know that?
I thought I had a screwed up Recovery. Turns out it is fine.

I had the same problem and managed to fix it without erasing everything.
Here are my steps:
flashboot flash recovery recovery.img
flashboot reboot-bootloader
It will go to Recovery
See the dead android with exclamation mark
Press Volume-Up for 10 seconds and then click power (without releasing vol-up)
Enter Stock Recovery Screen
Apply update from sdcard
Get 4.4.3 update.zip file here
"Press Volume-Up for 10 seconds and then click power (without releasing vol-up)
Enter Stock Recovery Screen"
This method is not working on my Moto G XT 1033 (Dual sim version).
I am running 5.0.2
Please assist on how can i see my stock recovery from that red exclamation mark logo screen.
Ok... i got solution here!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/help/red-exclamation-mark-bug-droid-recovery-t3012842
Button combination changed in Lollipop.
Press the power button and tap the vol up button to enter recovery.

[Q] Stock recovery (no command)

Trying to update GPE to the latest OTA 5.1.
Unfortunately when I enter stock recovery to flash the OTA I am greeted with "no command" underneath a green robot.
I power down, hold volume down when restarting, into bootloader, select recovery and it loads the above.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
I have tried the methods described online, hold volume up and pressing the power button but the no command/robot remains on the recovery screen. I am running a newly flash GPE 5.0.1 stock image.
Anyone have any idea or seen this before. I can get to the bootloader menu and can select recovery, it then boots to a robot and "no command" message.
I have tried holding up volume and pressing power as suggested on other sites, this does nothing. If I keep pressing power the phone just ends up rebooting.
No matter what I do I can enter the recovery menu.
Frsutrating as I wanted to flash an OTA.
Ps. Is this because I am s-off and/or have an unlocked bootloader?

Re-install stock recovery, firmware or RUU then try the OTA update.
@maritimesbob Reflash the right stock recovery from fastboot
Ok, here's where I am at.
I flashed GPE stock 5.0.1 using the conversion method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358781
As my phone was originally sense based. As this is a stock rom, with stock recovery I thought I should be ok, as it flashes recovery, radio, firmware, system etc,
When accessing recovery I get the robot and no command.
I managed to find a copy of the 5.0.1 gpe stock recovery, and tried flashing that, I appears to have got a little further, now I have the robot with an exclamation mark.
No matter what method of keys, volume up and whatever, I cannot get into recovery to flash an OTA. I was hoping to upgrade to 5.1
Would an unlocked bootloader and being s-off cause recovery to be locked out, if indeed it is locked out?

Recovery doesn't come up -- Mismatched Partition

Moto X 1095 with 24.11.18 6.0 update doesn't boot into recovery. Everytime I try to fastboot flash a recovery, it prompts a mismatched partition.
If I try to reboot into recovery, it will give me a blank, black screen.
Any advice would be appreciated.. I am not sure what to do. No one has a solution to this. I've tried to look for a factory recovery.img but no where to be found.
Can I downgrade to 5.1 using the Motorola Factory Image ? If so, how?
I have a similar problem
Does the black screen have the Android robot with an exclamation mark in it? If so, that's the stock Recovery. Press Power + Vol Up, and you should be able to access it.
When flashing a custom Recovery, make sure that after issuing "fastboot reboot" you don't let the phone boot into system, otherwise you'll end up with the stock Recovery again. After the reboot, you should access the bootloader again and enter Recovery for the custom Recovery to take place.

Note 5 is stuck in android recovery

hi, i have recently tried rooting my Note 5 by flashing spacex kernel, so first i had to install a custom recovery i used "twrp-3.0.2-0-nobleltetmo.img (1).tar" . i installed via odin and rebooted into recovery. Once i rebooted into it i had a message with "installing update" or something like that with an android figure and then it changed to the robot laying down with a triangle with the message "no command". i tried rebooting the phone out of recovery but it just looped back to the same message
ps. the power button on the note 5 is not responsive, and it is 32gb tmobile
thanks to anyone who can help

You could flash an official update.zip from Samsung and see if that works
What device model do you have? You must've flashed the wring twrp or something, it looks like you flashed the TMobile Version. Are you in T-Mobile?
if you can see that robot lying around... its mean you did not success to flash the twrp. it still stock recovery. try push vol button up/down several time and see if the stock recovery menu appear or not.
