[Q] ROMs for 027A - Verizon LG G2

I just got a G2 VS980027A. I can't seem to find any ROMs that specifically state they work with 027A. Will ROMs built for 024A work or do I need to go to back to 024A or up to 039A? This is my first experience with an LG phone.
If I need to go up or down, please point me to the procedure.
Thanks in advance.

To go custom you gotta obtain root and install recovery. 27A can be rooted I think with Stump Root. But because the G2 has several firmware revisions and 2 different exploits for recovery. Loki vs Bump I really recommend you spend a few days reviewing the forums. Threads by micromod777 and xdabbeb are good reads. It's in the Verizon forums. Cloudyfa autorec thread is a good one in the G2 general forum. Just read a bit. Then if you still have questions I'll be glad to help you.

I've already rooted and installed TWRP. Will read your suggested threads and get back to you if I have questions.
Thanks much.

This should be posted in the Q&A section as this is the Development section for the Verizon LG G2

[Q] Interested in rooting and flashing a custom ROM for the LGOB. [Q]

Hello guys, as you can see I am new to the forum and new to android in general. [Used to be an iOS fanboy] I have recently acquired an LG Optimus Black but i'm unhappy with the stock ROM provided by LG.
I have a few questions:
1) What are my options for rooting the device?
2) Once rooted, what custom ROMs are currently available for the device?
3) If I flash a new ROM is it possible and what would I need to have/do to restore the device back to the stock ROM?
And lastly...
4) What is the chance of fully bricking the device and what are my options if the device gets bricked?
Thanks a lot, [Hope this was the right section and hasn't been asked before...]

All was asked and ANSWERED before. Move your a** and search for it.
I have searched actually. The questions that have been answered aren't specific to my situation and I know that small details are very important when flashing phones. If you aren't answering the question I guess what you posted would be considered spam?
Guys,
Please refrain from bickering, two ways this can be easily resolved:
1. Use google search with the word xda in it to find your answer
2. Rather than posting move your a** and find it, if you know the link or answer, why not help a brother out?
I will say no more on the matter, its that simple.
THanks.

No point arguing..if you don't wanna help just ignore.
If you wanna reply, make sure it helps others.
1) What options? It's either you root or you don't. Either way, your phone works.
2) Currently there's only NOVA Rom by knzo.
3) Read this thread here.
4) Chances of bricking are slim if you read before attempting anything. If in any case your phone is bricked (boot loop), refer to the above.
Hope it helps.
Welcome to the Android community
Thank you very much for the very active response and information.... I am also studying these issues.

Exactly what I needed, thanks a lot!
I've heard a lot of the current roots don't work for the OB?
And is NOVA the ONLY ROM at the moment, I thought I heard about another one?
Older firmwares, you can use Gingerbreak. If it doesn't work, then most probably you're on the newer firmwares. Then use SuperOneClick.
The other one is Pays ROM. It's been abandoned.
It needs v10b Firmware to run. If you're not familiar, stick to Nova ROM.
Cyanogenmod is in progress (i hope so)

[Q] New Galaxy S4 Active (SGH-I537 ATT) owner needs advice on rooting

Hi, is there a "FAQ" for this phone which outlines all necessary aspects for rooting this particular phone? Mine is arriving Monday so I suppose I'll have to wait and see what OS etc. is on it.

There's not a FAQ for this phone since it's not nearly as popular as the S4 and didn't sell nearly as many units. That said it depends on which version you got.
If you have the i537, check this thread.
If you have the i9295, check this thread.
Other than that, just search through the General forum, most everything you are looking for can be found there.

Thank you Devo for the response, I appreciate it and the link you provided to the firmwares. I ordered yesterday from AT&T and believe it's the SGH-I537. I've been searching quite a bit and been looking at TenEightyPee's thread below and found that very useful
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2347793
Now in that thread, for custom ROMs and recoveries, we still can or cannot load these?

The root method you linked to will only work for certain firmware versions on the i537. The thread I linked to has links to everything for all firmwares.
Since the i537 has a locked bootloader you cannot flash custom recovery or kernel. You can use SafeStrap to kind of get around it, but it's not perfect. The i9295 has an unlocked bootloader so you can do pretty much anything you want with it.

[Q] do you think it's possible to flash...

I know this is not the Q&A thread. Don't shoot me. But i figured this was a dev question. Does anybody think or have tried flashing the stock droid ultra ROM to the moto x since they are VERY SIMILAR phones? Is it possible? Can it be done? Has anybody tried? If not and I was to try it do you think I can flash stock moto x IMG files back to normal? Or will i fubar my bootloader. Running Moto x Dev edit Verizon. These are questions that have been running through my head. Just thought I might ask. And is anybody willing to help me look into it? Thank you for taking the time to read and reply.

Very similar is never close enough. Any ROM for a different phone will not work for a different device. Some exploit methods work on multiple devices but never Roms and kernals.

I only asked cause if cm11 pac-rom etc could do it maybe we could. Thanks for answering though. It was worth a shot. I just miss my droid ultra?
They are the same phone in almost every way and yes the builds are compatible, or at least the 4.2.2 and 4.4 builds were last year. When the leaked T-Mobile 4.4 build came out, I was running it perfect on my vzw moto x DE and at least one other person was running it on their droid ultra/maxx with no issues.
So your question for the devs was just answered by non devs. If you KNEW you were posting in the wrong thread, but wanted to make sure you got noticed please follow the rules next time. It's not like you didn't know this does not belong here.
Only try this if you have an unlocked boot loader. If you are locked then you are out of luck. Still recommend finding a build for your phone.

New to HTC ( One )

Hello people!
Today I ordered an M7, I came from a Samsung S3 but it's faulty after 1.5 yrs. Still got 8 months of subscription left so had to buy a new phone.
I came by the HTC One series, and loved it. Design and everything is awesome. But what do you guys recommend me to do with the phone? Root it or keep it stock?
I have read through some stickies and came by things as bootloader and s-off but couldn't really find a conrete answer to what those things were. So, what are they exactly? With the S3 I had to flash a .tar file with Odin and the phone was rooted, ready for custom ROM's etc.
What do you love about your HTC One? And what advice about the phone can u forward to me?
This has been covered in numerous threads already (too many to link to), and in various forms. Almost every minute detail is covered...
Please take the time to explore this Forum, and don't forget to use search. Thanks.

This all depend what you need to do with your phone. If you don't need root, you don't have to root just for fun.

Everything you have previously used with Samsung phones (like Odin) will not be useful with HTC phones. HTC phones are really different from Samsung. This is not really harder to root HTC phones but the procedure is different.

Unlock, ROOT or S-OFF only if needed.
Make sure you understand how the phone works before tampering with it
and also that you know how to revert everything back to stock before you make some mods.
read read and read again before doing anything
refer to the FAQ in this forum (sticky thread) before asking questions. Most common issues are covered there.
and like said above by the mod, search the forum before posting, There is a ton of helpful threads here. You probably want to read all sticky threads of the General and Q&A section and have a look to the most recent threads. Use the search function before posting.

Is there a Moto Marshmallow ROM with CDMA support I can flash on my XT1096?

I use Verizon and have a XT1096 that I unlocked the bootloader on and installed CM 13. I really miss the Moto specific features so I'm looking to go back to a Moto ROM. Are there any Moto Marshmallow ROMs that will run on my XT1096 and still connect to Verizon radios?
Thanks!

Awesome, thank you. This is exactly what I'm looking for, not sure how I missed it. Though it seems like it is still a bit too unstable for my liking. I will definitely be keeping an eye on the thread to see how it progresses and I'll probably make the jump soon.
Thanks!
