[Q] Chances of bricking Xperia V by Xposed - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

So i recently installed the Xposed Installer to my rooted Xperia V, running stock JB 4.3 and FW:9.2.A.2.5
Then i naturally wanted to install some moduls, but then i saw the prompt saying that in some cases, installation of that could cause a bricked or bootlooped phone. So have any of you guys using the same firmware as I and using Xposed Framework experienced any problems? Or is it 100% safe to install the framework on it without needing to buy a new phone.
Don't want to take the risk before i hear from you, because I don't really have money enough to buy a new phone r8 now, so won't brick my V.

You should be fine if you on 4.3. It says that so they can't be held responsible. Just make you sure you install compatible modules for your device. You should be fine

So nice then! Is it any method to check if a module is compatibile with my device? (can't find such information on the module's site in the Xposed explorer tho)
Still wanna hear from someone who actually uses Xperia V, want to be 100% sure on that Can't lose this phone, really.

Some settings in certain modules might cause a bootloop, but you can easily revive the phone by pressing the power button multiple times during boot. This will disable Xposed.
Also, a locked bootloader phone can hardly be bricked. You can always flash a stock ftf with Flashtool and the phone will work again.
XV user here, by the way.

Thanks for the answer ;D
So if i understand you the right way, if i don't have unlocked bootloader it is a very tiny chance of bricking my phone, and if my phone bootloops it could be stopped by pressing the power button a few times. But do i need a software for that like CWM/recovery installed to stop Xposed during bootloop, or is it just an function Xposed has itself?

Xposed does provide a flashable zip for disabling, but the emergency disable function is already included without requiring a custom recovery.

OMG man thank you sooo much for helping me Going to try it out, let us just hope i don't ruin my phone :victory:
Just have one last question for you. Is it the framework or the modules themselves causing brick/bootloop? Or easier said, could i install the framework without any negative effect, only the modules that could destroy the phone?

"Destroy" is a slightly too drastic expression.
But yes, it's some incompatible modules that cause those issues. However, most of the time, you will rather face repeated force closes than a bootloop, when using the wrong stuff
And Xposed itself can be installed without risk, won't do any harm.

What's the point of rooting an active if you can't do anything with it. Now you can't even get the new at&t update. Someone explain what the reason is please besides the thrill of pointless tinkering.

I do lots of stuff with my rooted S4A. Wanam Xposed, Pie Controls, frozen ATT bloat and Avast Firewall to name a few things. It even text messages and makes phone calls!
New update=yawn. 4.3 isn't a big deal (unless you want a Gear).

It depends on what you're trying to accomplish. I personally have root so I can fully utilize Titanium Backup to backup my entire phone, block ads, use Folder Mount to force files to be saved to my external SD card, install Cerberus as a system app to utilize more of its features, and install Xposed Framework and Xposed Modules to endlessly customize my phone and add additional functionality to it. It's up to you whether or not you think rooting is worth it. With that said you can always update to the official AT&T 4.3 firmware using the Odin files found in this thread.
Good points for your purposes granted. But I loved to change roms on my gs2 until I found cm, then I stuck with that one as my fav. I'm just frustrated that it is not that easy or even possible anymore, at least with this phone that I like and plan on keeping for a while.

Hey Devo, you run xposed framework on the stock rom with no issues? I had some problems with it on my sgh-i537 and some of the modules wouldn't work at all. If I tried to install the hypderive device tools(shutdown) menu, when I use the shutdown button my phone locks up and just shuts off, no menu ever appears. I really like alot of the hyperdrive functions, I'd love to be able to add the hyperdrive tweaks too, but never had any luck there either.
As concern me I will sell my s4 active No Roms No updates :'(

Yeah, I run Xposed on my stock ROM. The only issue I ever had was a few days ago when I updated XPrivacy and the phone refused to boot. I had to flash the Xposed disabler with SafeStrap. I run the GPE ROM in slot 1 so I can't speak to the way Hyperdrive works. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Ok, I see. so whatever is in your slots can affect your stock rom as well? I also ran GPE in another slot for a while and I liked it, but with the aroma installer and the hyperdrive tweaks, it really is something I'd like to stick with. I wish I understood more about what is shared and what isn't between roms in slots and the deal with the locked bootloader. We're a long way from Windows Toto, lol. Then again, I do networking, not programming so much.
So, do you run the advanced power menu module on your stock ROM? I really like the HyperDrive version, I think it's called HyperDrive Device Menu or something.
I want to say I installed wanam and xposed from apk files, no flashing. Maybe I need to start there. Thanks again.

I don't think that the Rom slots impact each other unless you are running low on space.
I don't have am advanced power menu and I'm not sure what the Hyperdrive one looks like. That said Wanam had a couple of options that extend the power menu that are worth a try.
Everything I've installed has been by directly installing an apk. Except for dark dialer, dark contacts, and call recording.

thanks for the info man. I will try the wanam menu and see, think I tried it once, but still had the issue with the button locking up. One thing for sure, installing these other ROM's gives me plenty of ideas of how to change my stock ROM! BTW, I love D.C. saw the FW's at the National Harbor last year, good time. You need to open up the zip file and look inside the folders to see what files are flashed and where they ate flashed. This will tell you what files were changed our added then you can manually remove them. I would also ask the creator to post a zip that removes the necessary files to return to stock. It should be easy enough.

Quite a few apps don't work without root access. Plus it is necessary to be able to use tethering without a separate plan. Battery doctor, quickboot, app quarantine, and titanium backup are just a few on mine.

[Q] Help please, I have bricked my phone after trying TWRP and installing CM11

Hi guys. I'm going to apologize in advance that I am a noob when it comes to hacking and rooting. I've successfully gained root access to my Verizon LG G2 using my computer. I used originally used an app called G2 Tweaksbox that allows you to change a lot of things about the phone. But then I wanted to try the famous CM 11. I did the tutorial on youtube, but I didn't install the GAPPS zip. Then I rebooted my phone and now it became stuck on the LG startup screen but looping over and over again. I've tried to hard reset it but it won't work. Is there any possible way to fix this, because I used another family members upgrade to get this phone after I broke my last one? Please don't judge but please help me if you can.:crying::crying::crying:

If you did a nano backup then restore that if not you are going to have to do the revert back to stock. But for your information for later on. If you install xposed with any modules. Make sure to properly Uninstall all them before you change roms or make any changes
One last thing the official cm rom is no longer supported. No one to work on the g2 anymore

I actually lost knock on once leaving xposed installed. I confirmed it with going back to my nano Uninstalling xposed and knock on worked fine

Yeah I downloaded xposed and I got the latest module for support. I had no idea that you needed to delete them after you wanted to download a new ROM. Okay so do I fix this? My phone is stuck looping on the LG bootup message and the only way I can stop it is by hard reseting it and that just turns it off. How do I access it on my computer and reflash the stock? xposed lollipop

Is there a working version on lollipop update?
bump
what is so hard to understand? xposed for lollipop currently needs a custom recovery to install. there is no working custom recovery for the z3c yet.

And why not looking around in the XPOSED section. And there is an alpha version out. so Yes, there is.
Well I installed a prerooted version of Lollipop on my Z3 D6603, and installed the Xposed Framework while in recovery. It worked before I tried to install Lolistat, after which I was stuck in a boot loop. So no, it doesn't work right now.

It has nothing to do with lolistat, I expect. I have a rooted D6633 running stock LP; you flash the .zip, first boot is ok (the art optimizer runs on all app) - but it starts bootlooping once you reboot after that first (successful) boot. The only thing I did was, install a bunch of updates - not even the Xposed apk.
And btw, I did that after the first attempt, during which - on first boot - I installed the apk, appopsexposed and serjar's thing, then enabled those 2 modules, plus the greenify one which already existed (I assumed it was one of those) - but nope, it wasn't, unless the framework somehow enabled the greenify one behind my back and that caused the problem (which I find rather unlikely).

Bein Sport app refuses to work with my rooted Z3C

Hi everyone!
I have a rooted Z3C and it is a fantastic phone, I love it. The problem is that I bought a television sport service that includes the possibility to watch games on your phone, it's called Bein Sport. This app is able to detect root and refuse to play any videos so the service I bought becomes kind of useless
The worst part is that I don't want to mess around, just want to watch games on my phone and use the service for what it was thought. Si I thought i'd give a shout here, has anyone been able to bypass that annoying feature? I don't even understand why they don't like rooted phone
thanks!

There is an Xposed module for masking root on your phone, not sure if it will work or not. There is another Xposed app that offers help as well.
Installing Xposed can sometimes be tricky, make sure you find the right arm zip or you could be facing bootloops.

I use Xposed, it's very popular and works fine on the Z3c. I think the emphasis is to read about it before you do it, as many people rush in, go to downloads, install the one with the latest build number and then come crying to the forum about bootloops.
The fact that you have read ahead on the page before you did anything assures me that you won't mess it up :good:
If it reassures you, I am using xposed-v80-sdk22-arm.zip on a 5.1.1. build. But there are more recent versions out now, although I don't know what the advantages of using those are. Perhaps later versions cover the use of MM. Can anybody enlighten me on that?
Edit: Once you have flashed the installer in recovery, restart the phone and then install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk
With that installed and running you can find the modules and install them.
Each install or change of settings requires a restart.

Yep, installed, up do date, and some apps even use my root without any issues
If anyone comes here, here is what happened to me: I tried to install Xposed to try this trick but my phone would'nt falsh because it couldn't mount /system. I assumed that it was a problem with partitions. I tried deleting root manually but the app always found root even when I wasn't rooted anymore (beware, this app is pretty smart). I ended up having to go back to stock which sucks because the battery is really bad in comparison, but anyway I can watch football! Cheers

rootcloak im unsure as i have uninstalled it (didnt need it) and xtouchwiz i hacent retried. something (maybe a setting in xtouchwiz) was giving me some sim card pop up that wouodnt go away on boot and wouod make me reboot to recovery to do something to ky sim that just failed and the pop up would be there upon boot. i had to odin to get rid of it. it happened 3 times and each time it happened i had rootcloak and xtouchwiz installed. since removing both i hacent had a problem. so no i didnt and i believe one of them caused the problem. if anyone is using both or one or the other let me know what you do and dont have enabled or disabled in each module.

I appreciate your feedback. It would be inaccurate for me to reply with mine as I use the unlocked firmware. But in this case, the results were the same more or less.

i have since installed xtouchwiz and have no problems i turned a few things off that were on by default. i turned off fake system status and the disable scaling feature that was on. it works. rootcloak i have also reinstalled but i don't think it works. im not sure, i know snapchat has problems logging in if your rooted and i am experiencing this problem with or without rootcloak so i believe it is not working but i could be wrong.
Hi, I am new to xda and Android as a whole. So I have rooted (SM-G935A) and I can't find any way to install xposed because TWRP doesnt support the snapdragon variants. Do you mind telling me how you did it?
