Hi guys,
I flashed my rom to official CM-12.1 nightly release yesterday, but I noticed the data connection icon(i.e. signal indicator) is always missing after I turned on the mobile data.
However I can browse the Internet.
How can I fix it?
Finally I've figured out the reason, this is not an APN issue or a bug. It is because of I'm living in China! :crying:
As we all know, in Lollipop there is a network check mechanism, unlucky the google services are blocked in China, so the OS thought the phone was unable connected to the internet, and gives an exclamation, removed the signal indicator.
Once I used the Portal Server Modifier, the issue was gone!
In my official ROM, it only displays the exclamation and won't remove the signal indicator, so that's why I got confused.

Annoying problem that started yesterday: on cell signal the bars are white and I've got no data connection, but on WiFi the bars are green and I've got connection.
Originally, I was running CyanogenMod 7.1. I checked the data settings, I did a battery pull, I wiped the phone and reinstalled Cyanogen, and I wiped the phone and installed a rooted stock N1 ROM. I even grabbed a ROM from MoDaCo and updated the baseband to 5.12.00.08. Still no data on mobile.
No dice all around. Anyone know of anything else I can try? I really hope it isn't a hardware problem with the radio, because I'm out of my warranty.
Green means you are in connection with the Google server (so you can access market sync gmail etc) and white means you only have connection to the internet. This is a feature that was added in on gingerbread.
Ok, first up - Stock ICS 4.0.4 ROM, custom kernel (HydraCore v4.3), nothing changed on phone recently prior to this occurring.
Some time during the night (presumably) my Note has decided it does not work when it comes to mobile data. On waking I found the stock weather widget had not updated, the stock browser would not load any pages and the Facebook app said could not connect. Over wifi, these all work fine. Calls and SMS work fine. The weird thing is the status bar indicates I'm connected to H+, H, or 3G, and the upstream and downstream indicator arrows light up whenever an app tries to access the net as though all is fine. I find it odd that this has happened without anything being changed or touched on the phone, and with it working flawlessly for months with the current setup.
The website for my provider indicates no faults located either at home or work, could this still be network related?
Short of loading ICS again, I've tried everything I can think of. Cycle power, double check and toggle all data/network settings, reset APN, etc.
Just thought I'd check here for any ideas or a simple fix I may be overlooking before I go flashing ROMS (which may or may not fix it).
Thanks for any help,
Nick
Did you try with another sim card dude.

That might be an EFS partition corrupt, go to settings >> about device >> status >> IMEI
see if your IMEI is there or not
I have been having this issue for a bit now, it hasnt been like this always but only recently.
I also noticed that there was another user who was complaining of the same issue on a KK rom as well.
I have had this issue on Dirty Unicorns and Spirit Rom
I am going to give SlimSaber a try and see if it persists on that as well.
I know it could be network issue but I have never had this problem until recently and I did not change residence etc.
It shows connected in the status bar but there is no is absolutely no data transfer till i turn it on and off. And sometimes even that doesn't work and I have to turn of airplane mode. And this happens every 10 mins so I am sure it is no some sort of connection time-out issue
APN settings seem to be fine and such and I am out of ideas.
Could it be a ROM issue? Any suggestions as to what could help?
I am sorry for the horrible typos!
Tried slimsaber but issue persists
Updated the modem to the one for my country and it might help? idk
Hi,
My phone keeps on giving out no service and it also turns off the wifi. Sometimes it can't even find a wifi. Every time it says theres no signal my sim card name changes from 3 (My network) to SIM 1 I hope that has something to do with it. This all started happening when I updated my phone to the latest update (MIUI 10.3.5.0) and since then I can bearly use my phone as its constantly changing internet connections and not working.
Hope you guys know a fix.
Hello everyone,
sorry for opening a new topic on this, but i cannot seem to find a solution for my issue.
So first of all, my mom has a 3t which was updated a while ago and since then according to her, wifi isnt working, well it only works if it is lets say back to back to my oneplus6t while hotpotting and even then when it connects, it sais no internet. Long stry short, since she has unlimited 4g she wasnt really bothered by this, but since then she upgraded, and its been sitting inthe cupboard for a while. 4g is working aswell, no issues on that, flawless internet, only having issues with the WIFI
What ive done sofar:
- downgraded to os 7.1.1 from the latest 9.0.6
- reset whatever i could, ettings, cache, hard reset
- signal for cellular and bluetooth and nfc works no issues
-rooted the phone now
-opened up the phone, checked the wifi cable, even replaced it
-after opening it up, i saw the liquid indicator turned red on the top left corner of the motherboard
now, it well could be hardware issue, but on the other hand it a bit fishy
because everytime it is scouting for networks, the signal strength seems fine, then it drops and disappears as soon as i want to cnnect
also, i cannot simply just connect to these wifi, i have to setup a static ip address, then it would connect only when it is lets say back to back to my oneplus 6t hotspot.
so when it connects theres no data flow no internet connection at all.
now, has anyone any kind of suggestions what to do next?
thanks for listening
