Hey guys, I have search high and wide for stock recovery image for version 4.20.651.4. If anyone has this available to download, please hook it up. Thanks
I second this request.
It can be pulled from the Full Firmware.

Like I said, I search everywhere. That recovery is 4.20.654.10. I need 4.20.651.4. That recovery is for harman. I need the non harman. Ive searched all the threads. Many 404 links or not updated. I even googled the version to see if I could get an archived file. Nothing.

I just updated my m8 from 4.20 to 4.25, and I flashed the 4.20.651.10 full firmware from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934527799
Just download that, unzip, and your recovery.img should be in there

I came across a thread on here where you could upload your own picture and turn it into a bootscreen which you downloaded as a zip file and installed it via recovery.
Has anyone got the link to the thread please as I have searched and cannot find it anywhere.
Thanks

you mean the bootsplash, then this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42387796
and be careful, remember the bootsplash is directly written into mmcblk0p13, so you need S-OFF and the correct phone!!

Thanks for that, that's the page I remember. I am S-Off with a HTC One M7 with Super CID-11111111.
I know how to do all of this, but I can't do it without the stock firmware.:crying:
Here is the link to the forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/ref-complete-moto-x-guides-information-t2603358
I actually found tons of other forums too, but they all had the requirement of the stock firmware, and they all are pointing to the same link, to get the firmware.
Link: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0
But so, this website is down for some reason, and I need the stock firmware. If anyone has it and could upload it somewhere, that would be awesome. :good:

Geez, what happened to the sbf files on the droid developer's site? I hope someone has b/u copies of the firmware b/c I don't think I do!
My goodness what a huge loss if these sbf's are gone forever! Does anyone know what is going on with the site?

Flashing stock recovery back on your phone is the exact same process you took to flash a 3rd party recovery onto your phone, only using the stock Recovery.IMG file.
If you need instructions... then...
Link in my Signature has this info -> How To Return To stock Use option 2. If all you want is stock recovery, you can just do the mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img line and skip the rest if that is all you need.
OR....
If you are rooted and you can obtain the correct recovery.img and copy it to your phone, you can flash via your phone (without setting up Fastboot, etc on your PC) by following -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/ref-return-to-stock-recovery-rooted-t3027079 (this does have info on obtaining the stock recovery for your phone via your PC, you'll just need to copy the IMG file to the phone before you proceed.)
I need the stock recovery image (from 23.16.3.victara_retca.retca.en.CA) so I can flash the 6.0 update since it won't work with TWRP.
Any help? Google isn't providing me with much.
Does it have to be from the Canadian variant (not sure if the recovery images are different between variants)?
Tried looking here for the correct zip, which should contain the recovery image?

I have no clue. I doubt it would have to be the retCA version. I'm sure everything besides radio and system will be the same.
This is from the latest RETCA XT1097 5.1 firmware:

Worked perfectly.
My process
- Flash stock 5.1 using fastboot (Steps can be found on Motorola's site or somewhere on XDA)
- Install Marshmallow OTA
- Flash cracked boot.img for Marshmallow. This step is needed in order for TWRP to stick and for you to root without getting stuck on the warning screen. (I'll find the link for you if you can't. It's somewhere on XDA.)
- Flash TWRP
- Create backup so I don't have to go through this process next time haha

Awesome! Thanks for the tip. I got as far as the 6.0 OTA (RETCA), and am now trying to get root back again. Where did you find the cracked boot.img?
Cheers!

Something odd has happened since upgrading to 6.0.
'adb devices' still sees my phone, but 'fastboot devices' no longer sees anything, and making a desktop back-up with adb now creates a file containing 0 bytes.
Everything else seems fine. Are there some new permissions I need to give before this will work?
Thanks again.
Edit: I managed to get fastboot working, however now I've run into a new problem.
To confirm, when you say flash the cracked boot.img for Marshmallow, I should execute 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' for the cracked boot.img?
I'm getting the error: mismatched partition size (boot)
I can still enter TWRP with fastboot, but it's not permanent without the cracked boot.img
Am I missing a step?
Edit #2: Finally got TWRP to stick another way and have root now. Thanks for everything!
I went to codeworks page:
There are 4 files for the x522 in firmware and 4 in modems. I am assuming the "19s" firmware is for India so is the "20s" for the US?
But the 4 files in the modem section is confusing, which one/one's are for the US model x522? here is the link for the modems https://host.llamasweet.tech/codeworkx/lineage/s2/
Thanks

Oh you mean flash that entire rom? And will that install the bootloader and modem? In any case, i tried flashing those files but they won't flash, any suggestions?
Since those roms won't flash i had to look for individual bootloader and modem and stumbled into those files by codeworks, and i am assuming you are saying that those aren't the correct files?

twrp-3.2.1-0-s2, can't remember if i had the same one or one version older than the current one; when i tried it. Should i try it again? But the question is will it install the origibnal boot loader and modem? because i was playing with those in the past and flashed the wrong ones i think, and it will be great if i can go back to the original ones.

it certainty restores boot. not sure about modem, I never touched it. you have nothing to loose flashing it. it supposed to be bone stock. just delete two lines in the script and re-save zip. you have to do wipe, wipe data, then mount, copy zip, flash, reboot. in that order, I wasted hours today finding out that order is required. otherwise, it won't load.

Unbelievable! It actually worked after the 2nd attempt. Even got the 21s update. Thanks :good:
The original question is still unanswered about which one is the correct firmware for the US model amng the firmware provided by codeworks, hopefully someone knows that and will share in interest of others that might have the same problem.
Thanks again @leo221 for providing a clear and easy solution.
There's been several updates I have been unable to install as I am rooted. Is there an easy way to apply updates? Can you unroot, apply updates, then re-root for example? I'm confused about what might be the way. I've seen the debrand thread. But you would still be rooted and therefore unable to apply future updates?
Any advise appreciated

Hurupdater is the simplest solution and I've never had any issues at all.
Did you rename the files correctly?
Did you download the correct files?
Did you put unofficial TWRP .IMG in same directory as the other files and renamed it?
So in total you should have 5 files in one directory. Then just flash hurupdater .zip file in TWRP. That's it.

What can be easier then flashing one file then simply installing an actual official update?
Hu isn't hard I agree but it's certainly not easier then flashing one file.

Yea just flash no check recovery and it'll overlook the twrp recovery when you install the OTA update is system update.
Obviously has to be an official update but that's all the tinkering that's required.
No check is in the files listed in my guide from my Sig.
