Help Asus ME172V installing apps from playstore issue - MeMO Pad 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone have any issues installing apps from the playstore they go to about 97 to 100 percent but they just stay there and it takes a pretty long time to finish if it does at all. Its odd i got the latest version of playstore installed along with services to even try that.

No, the pre-installed programs like Maps and YouTube shouldn't be impacted, they're in the /system/app folder, not the /data/app folder (where user installed apps go). Even if the Google apps were deleted, they're all available in the Market, so no big deal to download them manually if necessary.
The DATA for the pre-installed apps will get erased, though.
Your battery usage pointing to google maps may be related to running the Latitude portion of google maps...it's constantly on and tracking your position. go into the settings for google maps (layers perhaps) and make sure Latitude is turned off.

The missing memory is used by the system and not available to you; this confuses many people, but you should be okay.
google latitude is not on
i cant clouse maps even in battery use if i click on maps and force stop it then refresh and its still there

Non-rooted, you might try going into Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/ All then finding Maps and uninstalling updates. Also, clear data, clear cache, etc. This might help you out.
Are you rooted?
The way Android works, killing tasks isn't advised. One of the reasons is exactly what you're seeing (I think what you're seeing)...if you kill an app that Android thinks you're going to use again any time soon, it just re-opens it in the background. It shouldn't be sucking up any significant resources in that state, though. Android doesn't like a lot of free memory..the linux mantra is "free memory is wasted memory".
Anyways, if you're rooted, you can try getting Autostarts off the market and tell it to keep Google Maps from autostarting on boot.
Also, if you're rooted, you could use Titanium or Root Explorer to delete the Google Maps apk and then re-download it from the Market.
What he's experiencing is a growing problem with Google Maps. There's currently a ton of people commenting about it in the market and I've seen it first hand.
I sat down with a bunch of friends the other day (all of whom have one Android device or another) and we all checked our battery usage has Google Maps at either the first or second position on the list. In the group was my Nexus S, a Captivate, a Nexus One, and a G2. It appears to be a problem with the newest update, probably related to the caching its doing with the map data, but that's just a guess.

[Q] Prevent Nook from overwriting updated apps

My rooted nook, 2.06, keeps overwriting apps I update. Specifically apps that came installed with the nook, like Spotify, Facebook, Pandora, Crosswords, Twitter. I update them to the latest version, then a day later, i get a notice from 1MobileStore that they need to be updated.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling from the Play Store, but same thing, day later, get an update notice. The updates always work, but at some point revert to the Nook version.
Any insights?
Yes, that is B&N detecting you don't have the version that they gave you and reinstalling. Even if you uninstall, they get re-downloaded and installed by B&N. I don't know what the solution is.

What a pain! I have a daily install (or more) for Twitter. I used Google Play and attempted to update Twitter, but I was warned that it would uninstall the Twitter that came pre-loaded.
So I canceled. I didn't install from Google Play.
Every day, at least once it tries to install. Sometimes I catch the Toast and get to the Google Play page for Twitter and uninstall.
It doesn't matter. It comes back in a few hours or the next day. Google Play reverts to the page with Uninstall button automatically.
There must be a file stuffed in a folder somewhere to install Twitter. Is there a standard folder for installs?

Snapchat background CPU usage!

Last two days my Nexus 6 has drained battery from 100% to 0% in less than 12h with less than normal usage.
I just realized that every time I receive a snapchat notification or open snapchat app (and exiting via home/back/swapping to another app) the snapchat background process will constantly use ~80% cpu. Saw this with app "Process view".
I have tried to clear cache in snapchat app, and also reinstalling it. This did not work
Opening "recent apps" and then killing snapchat will work, until I receive a snapchat or opening the app again.
I am on Google Nexus 6, Android 5.1.1, Build number LMY47Z.
Suggestions?
This is actually a Snapchat problem, it actually has been in a few blogs. There are websites that host older versions of the app, which may solve the problem (if the app still works with older versions). Or you can freeze or uninstall it until the Snapchat devs get around to fixing the problem.
Thanks, but which blogs? I have only seen data background usage, not CPU usage.

I updated my snapchat yesterday and noticed it was slow as heck and would make my phone run hot. I finally I got frustrated and uninstalled it. Luckily I had made a backup of a previous version of it and installed that now my phone is back to running like normal.
In case you're wondering how to make a backup apk of app use ES File Explorer up at the top left are three horizontal lines click that/open the library tab/select "App"/ scroll to which ever app you want to make a backup of/long press and hit "backup" at the bottom. It will save under the "backups" folder. Now next time instead of installing the app from the playstore you install it from there. Make sure you uncheck auto update in the playstore though otherwise it will update then you will have to uninstall and reinstall the backup again.

Question Slow downloads in Playstore (speeds up after deleting data of playstore)

Hey Everyone,
my problem is - very often the downloads from Google Play are very slow. (About 300kbit/s)
When I stop the download and go to Apps --> Google Play and then delete the Data, then open the playstore again and download the same file, it will be much faster. (at least one magnitude, about 3-8mb/s)
Any ideas?
My Wifi is the same as before and my internet-provider does provide 100mbit/s, which is being realistic about 50-90mbit/s in real life.
Regards,
Maeffjus
it seems that latest ROM updates (I think I have this on all AUB* ones) is weirdly strict on background activities and cuts every one of them. my whole device acts strangely - apps not showing notification or showing them late (hours later than they were supposed to show), my apps are not updating: I have to repeatedly FC play store, then clear its cache so that currently installing app changes state from downloading to installing, than do it again to change state fomr installing to installed etc. worked fine on AUA* ones. it is really annoying. btw I tried to clear cache and dalvik/art cache from recovery, but that did not help. I have not tried factory seset yet...
I cannot download apps or update apps. Turns out its Virgin Media (UK) blocking traffic. They're sending me a brand new shiny SuperHub 4.
It seems that it was data corruption during regular OTA. Factory reset seems to fix problems for me.

Question Apps won't update

I have a recurring problem that apps stop updating. Deleting the Play Store memory and cache sorts it, but only for one or two apps then it stops again. Apps either just sit saying pending or download to XX% and then stop.
report it to Google
Clear system cache.
Clear data in related apps.
Delete, recreate Google Account.

I had this issue after the first beta. I had to go to apk mirror and install the latest update for the app that wouldn't update. Once I did that the next updates that showed in play store, updated correctly.
Edit* I believe this happened because I restored my Samsung backup including apps but I could be wrong. Either way that fixed it.
Unless you're having issues with the app I wouldn't worry about it. Updates can and do break apps. I use the factory load version still after 2 years on some of mine.
Some saved app versions go back 6 years and work fine!
Google's update crap is just that many times. Trying to scare you into constantly updating.
If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it bro...
You can also use ApkExport on another Android to make an installable copy then download it to the other device.
