Hi guys,i have an xperia z1 and i unlocked the bootloader and i am running the AOSB project ROM on my phone, but when i installed that ROM the firmware version the newest one was the 14.2.A.1.136 and i used the NUT thread and links, so i got the double recovery, and the i wiped everything installed the rom and gapps and everything is working fine except that i lost TWRP and only have CWM as of right now. My question is should i update my firmware to the newest one following NUT threads up to 14.3.A.0.757 and then install the new PAC rom or since i have UB just fastboot kernel, reset, flash rom and gapps ? Will anything change if i install newest firmware. And can i install NUT firmware with recovery and SU even though i am on UB? Any help is appreciated.
Hi,
So I've got .266 based UB, on 4.4.2 Vanir stock kernel
Interested in updating to a 4.4.3 rom but got a bootloop trying to flash CM11+gapps through TWRP.
I think it's down to one of these issues:
- Do I have to update to latest firmware via ftf flash? (.201/205)
- Do I need to flash a certain kernel/boot.img before flashing the rom?
- Do I need to use a certain compatible recovery/version?
Any help with this would be much appreciated. Thanks
Just flash via fastboot kernel that works with vanir and then enter recovery - wipe everything and install from SD. Should work
Recently updated to .157
Can't get it rooted by the towelroot exploit
Some said flashing kernel only .108 then root then flash back to .157 works
but can it wipe out data?

Click to collapse
its right you have to flash ONLY .108 kernel then root, and then flash ONLY the .157 kernel (not the whole ftf) if you do it on this way you wont loose your data.
With flashtool you can flash the kernel out of the ftf: just uncheck all 3 wipe boxes and exlude (check all boxes except kernel) kernel
Here is what I want to know

Hello! I have a z3 compact on carbon rom with an ub. Im trying to go back to stock but using my backup or by flashing a stock based rom it never boots. What are the steps i need to take to get back to a stock based rom like "xperience"
If the trouble is flashing through TWRP, you can always try using flashtool with a stock ftf or a modified one that has TWRP and root already.
