noise cancellation and custom roms - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there! I've got a pair of MDR-NC31EM, the ones that allow to use the noise cancellation feature of the z3c. Since that feature is managed by the phone itself, I was wondering if that feature still works when using a custom rom?

It still works as long as you don't unlock your bootloader or use a third-party Audio Engine like Viper4Android.

is this function related to the drm keys or can it be ported to work also with custom roms?

Well unlocking the bootloader removes the "Noise Cancellation Feature" on the Z3 and Z3 Compact unless of course you learned/know how to backup DRM Keys and restore them after unlocking.

Well, there is that one patch that one can apply which apparently restores the photo in low light algorithm, not sure if that also fixes the noise cancellation though. Cheers!

Stereo Bluetooth Headset Issues

Hey Guys. I am a noob to the Xperia Z C6606. I have had several Samsung and HTC Android devices over the years and have rooted and modded them all thanks to xda-developers. This is my first Sony phone. I currently have two stereo bluetooth headsets; an LG HBS-730 and a Sony SBH-80. The play/pause, forward, reverse and phone answer/hang up buttons only seem to work sporadically with any music player I use and I am also running the stock phone app . Its a hit or miss issue. I have these issues no matter what music app I use including the Walkman app. I really love the Walkman app since I am a Music Unlimited subscriber with the way Music Unlimited is integrated into the Walkman app.
I am running a stock and unrooted Xperia Z. Is anyone else experiencing these issues and, if so, is there a work around? I am willing to root my phone if needed.
I read somewhere that it is related to 4.3. Try downgrading to 4.2.2 and report back

I should have mentioned that I an already running 4.2.2; build 10.3.1.E.0.1.9.1. This is the most current build for T-mobile.

Thanks for your input. I may go ahead and try a reset. I hate having to pull out my phone every time I have to answer a call or want to change or pause my music. You would think that a Sony bluetooth headset would work with a Sony phone.

Okay, this gives me more reason the try a reset. I am guessing that you are running 4.3? I think that the C6606 is the only model that has not had the update.

I got the controls working again with my stereo bluetooth headsets. I did a factory reset on my phone. My only guess is that one of my apps was interfering. Thanks St.Jimmy90.

I have other issue. During phonecall with headphones by BT person who i speaking to doesnt here me well (not loud enough) i have the same problem with Xperia E but not with P. Is it kernel or soft problem? Z P is rooted E docent. All tested with tracer headphones nad nokia headset.

need help! what is wrong with my mic? broken when on-ear call, not during speaker

no known damages at all. yes rooted, i have flashed multiple roms, so i dont think its software, i think it's a hardware problem so i'm asking if there's a way around it. Yes I have sound enhancement disabled and yes I have cleaned it with a brush
problem - when making a call on-ear, the mic doesn't work. when i put it in speaker the mic works again.
therefore i ask, does the phone using a different mic between on-ear and speaker? if the answer is yes, how can i switch which mic it uses? if the answer is no, what is wrong with the phone?

If your signature is correct then you have a OnePlusOne and this is a HTC One M7 forum. The phones are different and if it is a hardware issue you will need to return it to the manufacturer for repair. I would guess that there is just one mic and I would go back to stock to see if the problem is evident there, if not then it is a software issue.

Xperia T microphone software problem, please help!

Ok guys, let me explain you my problem:
Recently I bought used Xperia T from online store, and seller told me that phone have problem with software. I have flashed a lot of ftf files, and some custom ROMs using TWRP, and in ALL cases my microphone doesn't work, no matter how i want to use it (camera, calling, voice recording (it records noisy sound without detecting any other tones) etc.). When I try to make call other people can't hear me, even when earphones with microphone is plugged in (I suppose that calling should work well because of headphone mic). Only ROM that can make my Xperia works as it should is CM10, 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. So the problem is in software related, not hardware. So I wanted to ask you guys for some piece of advice- what should I do to make newer version of android works on my Xperia. Is there any "microphone drivers", "audio routing", or something similar, just to get some clue about where to start exploring. I cannot use PC Companion since my device is prototype unit. If you have any suggestion, please help me.

Try CM12.1 Neo for your phone. There is faux sound support which has microphone and earphone values. Try it maybe it will work.
That's exactly the first ROM I tried to install, and it have the same problem as other ROMs, even stock ones has that problem (that's really weird). Anyway, thank you for answering my question, I really appreciate that!
Little update- my Xperia T works with all variants of Xperia TX stock and custom ROMs, except camera which is totally inverted and not focusing at all. When I flash stock Xperia T kernel over stock Xperia TX firmare, problem is back, but camera works, so I think that is kernel related problem. So if anyone have some idea what I possibly can do to switch camera drivers (to put Xperia T camera driver in Xperia TX kernel). Any suggestion is more than welcome. Thank you in advance!

Use 2 Bluetooth-devices at the same time?

So as far as I know the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact is capable of Bluetooth 5.0, on other brands like Samsung with Bluetooth 5.0 you can connect 2 Bluetooth-devices at same time. As example you can listen on 2 bluetoothspeakers simultaneously. Is there any possibility to do that on Sonys Stock Software as well?
Thx in advance
Of I look on my cellphone (XPZ) there is in the Developer Option an option to change the count of BT DEVICES, but I didn't know if it's work or not
Well I tried this once before but now it worked. Now I can connect to both devices and switch audio between them and the device. So thank you:good:
Do you or anyone else know if it is possible to play audio on both aswell. In sound settings I only can switch like stated.

Meshing, connecting to multiple devices, is down to Bluetooth V5. But that doesn’t mean application developers are going to design audio streaming to multiple devices. This is pretty complicated and a bit niche, I mean why would you want to?

Sound Woes

Hi all,
Anyone face random times where the sound and microphone do not work until a reboot?
Thought it was Google assistant, but faced it again when setting up the car Bluetooth.
It's frustrating!
Currently on eu 9.7.11 ROM (unrooted).
Cheers,
Dave

It's annoying indeed. I have no solution at the moment. Maybe flash 10.3.15?
i am in 10.3.15, look like the bug fixed, been 3 days without mic and speaker problem.
Currently it's been fine, after a reboot all is stable so I shall see
No, the problem still persist in 10.3.15.

I'm using the Indian 10.3.3.0 and it's been perfect thankfully
Indian has no NFC module. We are using Google pay, so it's mandatory for us.

I can live without NFC but sound I kind of need :silly:
Of course, I've two k20 pro. In one via viper4android, audio compatibility patch and audio modification library succeeded and stabilized one, but still fighting with the second one

With all that installed you find the issue is resolved?
Yes, the phone must be with magisk installed and these modules should be activated. I've found this useful information in one of the threads in the forum.
