Rom Kitchen ? - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone created a rom kitchen app for use with our phones. It would be great to build your own rom in windows, add apps and take aways appz as needed. Would also be great to be able to download and build from source. Just thinkin out loud.

Most kitchens are compatible with all devices. Search the android development forums. There are many of them. If you want to develop or modify apks then search for tickle my android.

Theme Chooser app?

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Does anyone have an apk for theme Chooser? I can't seem to find it in market
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
you can't just install the application unless you run a rom designed to use it. the reason is that the whole framework-res.apk of your phone has to be heavily modified in the way the theme chooser work.
the apps can be found in the general android theme section of xda. there are several versions there i believe

ROM Kitchen

Hello guys and gals. I was wondering what kitchen the developers for this device are using. I have searched around using Google and was not able to find a kitchen that supports our device. I would prefer a Windows kitchen but if that is not possible I am running Linux Mint 12 64bit on my other partition. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You probably wont find one tool for our device....yet. I use several different ones for different things. Depends on what you need to do. Here's a short list of the tools I use off the top of my head.
xUltimate (Windows) For de-odexing
APK Manager
APK Tool
dsixda's Android kitchen (in Linux) (Mainly for splitting boot.img)
7-zip
Notepad++
And of course the Android SDK.
try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
it is not supported but if you are ok with python you can update the tools you need and make it work. It does work out of the box for simple stuff
Thanks everyone. I'll take a look at them all

ok....this is a small app. it's neat too. it allows minor changes to the application. allows you to change the name of the app(the one you see @ drawer), lets you edit the icon and allows you to poke the app information (like change the author )

Theming and Customising

Might as well start this off as many of us would love to customise our roms even further by creating and modding our roms but dont know where and how to start , hopefully this can be a general guide to de-compiling apk's /re-compiling modifying customising colours etc on most devices .
Website i use for changing and finding out HTML colour codes to change the basic colours in roms here great help especially when you cant find the correct colour code and name or need to use when theming .
I also use this website to re-size my PNG's etc to the sizes i need when modding or replacing pictures.
Android APK tool is a great start for most to learn and figure things out, link to site here
Hopefully this thread can be useful for ALL as with so many devices and different ways to theme mod and customise each individual device we can collectively help each other with the simple and basic stuff to get everyone learning and heading in the right direction .
:good:
Apktool is the only one I have been able to get working with 4.2 framework so it is a very helpful tool and dose have support on how to install and use but I wish there was some way to have a brake down of what is what with the .XML files like what to change and where to change backgrounds and text colors

Hi.
I've already started a thread on theming. [Guide/Tools] Simple APK Modding - Basic Android Theming
I still use APK MANAGER, what you have to do is replace some files in the OTHER folder. I'll make it sinple for everyone to use.
I'll upload my version for people to use in link below.
This works for 4.2.1 apks
APK MANAGER 5.0.2

Using Features From Seperate Roms? Or Extracting Part of One Rom To Another?

For example, say cyanogenmod 12 is released and I flash my /system to it, and it runs fine; then I find a rom with dark notifications for say (which this imaginary cyanogenmod rom doesn't have). Is it possible to run both, or to "open" one part of the rom and add it to another?

Not unless you compile your own rom and merge commits. Cm has a theme engine so you can always create your own theme or find themes close to what you're looking for.
