Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but is there an app to replace the in-call app? I think it's rather ugly and it's the last thing I need to replace to get my phone looking perfect.
Thanks.

I already use GO Dialer, but when I hit call it ask to "dial out" and goes to the default android (in-call?) app. Thanks for the suggestion though

I'll have a play then
Hello all,
My alarm clock is playing up, ever since I got the phone it would pick and choose when it does and does not want to go off, a couple times its not went off at all, I dont really want to download an app off Google Play because I dont really like packing my phone with loads of apps. Yesterday I woke up to checm the time during the night and then went back to sleep and my alarm never went off, its really annoying, does anyone know of a way to solve this?
I'm on 4.2.2.
EDIT: Also, I have heard about Android 4.4 KitKat, how will I update to this once it is released? Will it just be a OTA update? Thanks for your help to whoever answers

That with the alarm is badass haha
Hmm. What if you set in settings of the alarm clock the option with side buttons and use them?
For the update:
- Sony will give an update via PCC.
- You will find the stock rom here on XDA and you can flash it with flashtool.
- Maybe you will become an OTA update but you will be faster up 2 date if you flash it without waiting for OTA, trust me(You will have to wait weeks after release)
But first comes 4.3 in december

If you want you can try my clock app. But make a Nand Backup before because I don't know what will happen!
Just copy it with a root-browser to (but first unpack it(the apk was to big to upload it so I had to do it like this-.-)^^): system -> apps
View attachment SemcClock.zip
Or
Flash the ROM again.
Or
download en app in play store..
I don't know if you have more options..

I am not rooted, thats why it annoys me so much as i know ive not deleted any neccasary apps, i need to get this sorted as its the only problem with the phone other than that its completely fine! Do you think the phone could just be going into a deep sleep and then not responding to the alarm? Ive tried a factory reset already and it didnt help, ive also not used any task killers or anything :/

Hi guys,
first of all I'd like to give the credit to @jastonas, @umnex and others who created flashable APK, this wouldn't be possible without them.
I modified and signed APK from this thread to allow installation without root.
Current release is based on version 5.1.131226882
Warnings
This is beta release, so please expect bugs
Dialer will NOT work on Lollipop, sorry
I focus on pure stock experience, so I'll never support themes/changing colors/whatever, but feel free to modify app on your own if you want.
What works
Calling
Incoming call UI
Internal contacts lookup
Contacts and call history access
Phone number blacklist
Known bugs
Application freezes while interacting with settings. Workaround: Use settings directly, not through this app.
Caller ID doesn't work (and probably never will)
Unable to delete individual calls from call log INVALID: Option is not available even on Nexus
How-to
Download attached APK
Upload to the device and install using common tools
Go to Settings > Applications > Default Applications and switch Calling app to Google Dialer
Releases
v0.8 (Pixel Dialer)
v0.7 (Original Dialer)
[*]v0.5 (fixed lookup) [deprecated]
[*]v0.1 [deprecated]
Any feedback is welcome, but I don't have much time to spare, so please don't expect any regular updates.
Thank you for understanding.
P.S.: You can also give a try to accidentally released Google version, which seems to have Caller ID working
Kolda_CZ said:
Google has released new update of Phone app which apparently solved everything.
- APK doesn't check for device, so it can be installed anywhere
- Contact lookup on Samsung is fixed (no hacks required anymore)
- Caller ID seems to be working too (worked for me after 2nd call)

Works like a charm on stock S6!
Tahnk's for your work! Works fine!
Sometimes freezes in settings, when I try to enter calls menu, but that's ok!
I can recieve calls, I can call anybody!
Don't you think that we need Google Contacts app, to work with this?
Can you provide different colour themes for calling ui thanks.
Amazing! works great on LG G4! i have been waiting for exactly this for so long, THANKS!
Works great on LG G4 M6, but no Callrecording

Wow.
LG G4, working great. Missing smart dialing feature, but thats ok, i missed this design so much.
GREAT!!!
That's great, works perfectly on LG G4!
PLEASE, please give us Google Contacts too :fingers-crossed:
Hi folks, thanks for all responses! My primary target is to fix contact lookup in incoming/outgoing calls. It's harder to fix than I thought, it seems Samsung modified query mechanism somehow. I hope I'll post update soon.

Yes man, everything works like a charm
Good job man do you have the contacs app?
No any new update.
Everything works, but I'm unable to delete a single number from the call log history. Is anyone else having this issue?
This is a modified dialer apk, and root is NOT required. All credit for this goes to those mentioned in the original OP.
I know this is in the S6 forums, but it is confirmed (by me) working on G5.

Works great. Thank you
Does this app actually make the call or is it just a dialer that opens the LG app soon as you hit send? I'm just looking for a solution to the stock app because it turns hot pink when you hang up... It's the only thing about this phone that I don't like. It's driving me crazy ?

Goto Settings > Apps > *Touch the 3 dots in the top right corner* and select Configure Apps > Default Apps > Phone App > *Select the Google Dialer. It will be listed as simply "Phone"
I have not tested this for incoming calls just yet, but for outgoing, it will skip the stock dialer completely. Hope this helps.

Yes this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the help. No more ugly dialer. And it also works for incoming for me. Actually, the entire app works like it should - settings and all.

Good Good... Glad to hear it works as it should for you.
so no caller ID though... I wonder if the Tmobile Name ID feature will still work
Well standard caller ID works.. I will have to wait till an unknown number calls me to test the rest.
The latest version that was in the actual thread crashes for me. The version in the OP works fine. Thanks!

Same here.
Stupid question maybe, but what exactly do you find wrong with the stock G5 dialer app, and what makes the Google dialer more desirable?
TIA

It's more visually pleasing? For people who really want a stock Google experience, it's one more thing to get you closer to that. With this and the Contacts app installable from APK Mirror, I'm officially using all the stock Marshmallow apps for everything but my Exchange email.

I find the LG dialler requires more finger presses. But I'm coming from the Song Xperia dialler.
New call: Go to dialler. Possibly not on the call tab so click that. Start to type name and some suggests come up. Click on the [v]. Select the person/number to call. And now the bit that annoys me, press the call button. If I click on number why not just call them, why show number and wait for me to press another button?
Call back: So I missed a call. Go to dialler, go to call logs, click on the call I missed. Show the contact details. WTF? So now I click the phone icon and call. Yes I know there is a little call icon but I'm used to clicking a phone number and it dials it. Not have to locate one tenth of the call log line to start a call.
Anyway, I'll get used to it but I do think I have to do more work for simple calls versus other diallers.
Wow. That is as clear and concise an answer as I could ask for. I wish my wife would answer simple questions like that, but I have to ask her twenty follow-up questions just to get an answer to the first one! So, I do see what you mean, and I have found it at least a little annoying myself. I guess I just accepted it as the way it is. Never really thought to look for a different dialer, but by golly it just might be worth a look now. Thanks for taking the time to give such a thorough answer. I hope you type much faster than I do, but I use Swype keyboard.
Does the original Dialer needs to be uninstalled first before installing Google-Dialer 3.00?
-> If yes, where to get that original Dialer found and uninstalled?
How about if Google-Dialer will be updated in future to 3.xx?
- Auto-Update or manual update needed?
- Link to webside to be able to always have the latest version installed?
Thx
It's crashing on me. Where can I get one that works?

Ive had no issues with this. Been using it for a week or so & has been flawless.
Also been working for me with no issues. Combined with the Google Contacts app and then Calendar, Clock, and Calculator, throw an icon pack into Nova, and I seriously feels like I'm stock. Very very happy.
as soon as i click on the icon i get "Unfortunately, Phone has stopped" message.
There are several versions out there. It would be helpful if ya'll would specify which version is or is not working. I am running the 2.05.07_rc4 with no issues. I haven't tried the 3.0 version yet.
Since google removed the ability with aw2.0 is anyone working on an app to bring back this function?
Currently with AW2.0 if you have a watch without a speaker, you can not use it to answer your phones calls. You do get a notification that you have a call, but your only option is to reject it, there is no option for answering :/
You can use MacroDroid.
