No more sound, calls, mic - hardware or software issue?!?! - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I had AICP 1708 installed an from one day to another there was no sound anymore. No music playing, no calls (mic isn't working, too), no sound at all. The music player crashes when I want to play a mp3 file.
I already went back to sony stock rom and did full wipes and clean flash of AICP and CM 12.1, but no changes.
Has anyone an idea if it could be a hardware issue? But why is the music player closing with " An unknown error has occurred: 1 "
Thanks in advance

Try flashing stock again, then see if it's fixed.
and if one music player doesn't work, try another one.
If it still doesn't get fixed, it's probably a hardware issue.

Tried that already, no sound...perhaps speaker is broken. Is the mic also Brocken when the speakers are broken?
YouTube doesn't play movies at all, only a error message...
Could a logcat help to find the Problem?
Thanks

May I know if in Stock ROM the sound is okay?

Sure, sorry...
These was no sound in stock, too...so I think speaker is dead.
The strange thing is, that every player which should play mp3 files crashes...only MX player is able to play movies, but without sound...

I once faced errors with audio too once, but I find out that my audio cable is not connected. But this is because I did a disassembly. And probably i didn't connect it properly. Have you recently disassemble the Xperia SP?
If you have the guts, you might want to disassemble the Xperia SP and reseat the audio cable and the speaker cable.

No, haven't opened the device yet, but it fell down in the carpet a week ago. But audio worked...
But ai could give it a try and have a look at the cables inside

[Q] [HELP] X8 JellyBeans 4.1 speakers/earphones problem

I didn't find any similar threads with this problem so I decided to start a new one.
The thing is, I just installed JellyBeans 4.1 Beta 1 and flashed my X8 with "E15i_JBMiniProject_v02" (Everything on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1789713)
I also installed the Google apps in the thread like Google play.
So, the problem is that when plugging earphones into the device and then playing music or any audio app the sound goes both through the earphones and the speakers. I didn't find any separate volume options for speakers and earphones also when increasing or decreasing volume in the device, both speakers and earphones increase or decrease.
I looked carefully through the phone options and I didn't find any possible options. Note: I was kinda tired so I MIGHT have missed an option for this.
I tried searching for people wanting to force this to play both through speakers and earphones and I've only seen threads in developing forums, nothing as simple as an option I might miss-understood and turned it on.
NOTE: I also tried setting phone in vibration only mode and silent mode but still.
I know it's not the worst problem ever, but it's annoying because I can't use earphones without playing music via the speakers too...

Sorry I didn't see the comment on the thread, didn't mind searching since the thread owner mentioned not to talk about bug in the dev thread :S.
BTW I'm the one who submitted the bugreport lol.
EDIT: Yeah, I'm blind, just noticed the guy who posted the app that fixs it.
Thanks for the help .

Wow htc still has this problem? I am a bit surprised.. Well download headset blocker from the market. That should do the trick

I listen to music every day with stock player and other players. No such problems with my unit. Did you try different headphones? Inserted all the way in?
Seems like a headphone jack issue. The jitters, random pauses & song skips I experienced all of them when I used a cheap headphone on my old HTC device. replaced it with the official one and it worked flawlessly.

I'm having the exact same problem with my new HTC one. The HTC does have headphone jack issues because my jawbone up does not work with it. However, I'm using a very good set of cans so it's not a headphone quality problem. If they do only work with stock or beats then the phone is going back.

having this issue with skullcandy 50/50s. Wizdroid, headset blocker, poweramp headset controls off. Nothing fixes it.
Same here, Using an Parrot Zik.... over bluetooth with beyondpotcast, poweramp etc.. Got the impression it's caused by other processes going on im the background.
Update, Just tested it with airplane mode on, no jitters then.
Okay, I think I have this issue. At first I thought it was the custom rom, then I thought Pandora was buggy, cuz it would skip six songs and cause me to hit my limit. Also, volume rockers didn't work right, sometimes pressing the volume would open the voice search or make a phone call, or more likely the phone thought I was holding down a headset button. I'll give Headset Blocker a shot.
Other than this, my phone is perfect.
I have this problem intermittently. I was on a plane recently and the songs would play for a minute or something and skip or stop. However right now it doesn't do it. I am using stock headphones. It also does it with other media players, not just stock. I thought I had found some feature on the phone to change the songs but no, it does this and I have no idea why.
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem with my HTC One. When I'm using the stock headset it fast forwards, skips the music in all audio players but when I plug in standard headphones without a mic, sennheiser cx300ii, all those issues disappear. Right now I can't say if its the faulty socket on the phone or the headset problem since I don't have any other headsets with a mic to test it with.

I think you may be getting on to something. I made a few calls with the stock headphones recently and it was popping and crackling like crazy. Unusable. Maybe defective headphones.

I downloaded a third party app which blocks the mic and I no longer experience the skipping songs problem. The app is wizdroid.

Yea, the few calls I made had the same result. Everyone who I spoke with using the headphones said that they can't hear me clearly and there is a lot of noise.
found my fix.
Hi all,
I discovered I have this problem while I was at the gym. I tried downloading the Wizdroid app but that did nothing for me. I then tried to use a different set of headphones with and without a mic and that solved the problem.
Seems like the control button and mic on my HTC headphones has broken, which is a shame 'cus they were good headphones
Hope this helps.
I'm having the same problem, and I stumbled across this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301998
Will be trying it as soon as I can scrounge up some materials. Will update with results.
EDIT: This happens with every pair of headphones I try. Haven't tried the aforementioned app though, I'll test with that too.

The rubber o-ring works! I keep it on my headphones and it isn't intrusive in any way.
Great! Thanks, the stock headphones are not too bad so I'd like to keep using them for listening to some music.

Get the best quality out of your headsets

As title say, this trick will give you a 2x quality to any kind of headset you connect to our phone, i dont think im owner of this trick, but i didnt read it anywhere yet
Follow this steps in order to activate this:
1_activate silence mode
(any kind of notification sound will disable the boost making you follow all the steps again)
2_plug in your handsets
3_open music and play a sound
4_in case you have an EQ open it after following steps 1, 2 and 3 (optional)
5_open the radio, in case its working for you music will stop as always
6_in the radio, press the button that allows you to use the speaker for listening (dont unplug the headsets)
7_Turn of the radio while its working with the speaker on (radio should close automatically)
8_Now quickly go to the music player and play something.
and thats it, you will notice a really big change in sound loudness and quality, but dont put the volume too high!, phone will detect that is too much for your ears and will disconnect the headsets making you do all the steps again.
Hope it work for you, it worked for me in both stock v20 and v30, in case your radio "dont work" or something like that i cant help, i didnt have that problem before
Did i help you? Dont forget to press "thanks" it wont take you nothing, good luck

Yes it is working fine. Just start and stop FM, it will boost good sound with ear phones. But we have run FM after every call and message to get this effect. We can easily find the difference with this procedure. B/t I am using stock ICS.

[Q] Music Player starts after I hang up

Hi all,
this one is pretty amusing at times, but mostly frustrating. So I have a this HTC One which was shipped with Android 4.1. Everything was great. Then I updated to 4.2 using the normal "check for updates" procedures.
Now, whenever I hang up or ignore a call, my MP3 starts playing. Systematically. Sounds like a bluetooth issue (most of my calls are dealt with through my bluetooth headset). I uninstalled the bluetooth app (Plantronics Voyager Legend UC), reinstalled, deleted and re-paired the device. No luck.
I can;t find anywhere a "playback" setting of any kind. Google-is-my-friend tells me I'm not the only one with that issue but so far, no solution.
If anyone has a clue, aside reverting to 4.1, I'd be grateful as this is quite embarrassing when you're in a meeting and you ignore the call... (good thing I got rid of my heavy metal MP3 files...).
Thanks,

I did get a chuckle on this one. The only suggestion I have would be to download a 3rd party music player, check it as the default player, and see if that helps.
Woops sorry buddy I didn't mean not to reply, just been busy. So yeah this is amusing at best. So I uninstalled all apps related to the headset, rebooted once more, and voila ! No more MP3.
As to why it ever happened in the first place, I'm as puzzled as you on that one.
Cheers though,
Well I spoke too early... randomly, after I hang up, there comes the music...
I considered slapping the phone on the wall but that's not very viable.
I went through all the settings for the phone, the music player, the bluetooth headset, I can't figure this one out.
Any ideas you want to throw at me, please do. Thanks,
I think I've been able to narrow it down. I think it only happens (but I have to confirm this) when the "car" application is on. However in the settings I can't see "resume music after a phone call" or something similar.
I think it's the "Car" application, however it's called, because the way the "play forward stop pause" buttons look similar to what's on the screen when the music starts playing... it's a long shot I know.
Do you allow your headset to be a control for the music player? If so, using the headset to hang up may well start the music playing.

Xperia T sound issues

.Hello everyone,
I had this problem with my Xperia T for a long time. I searched the forums for something like this but didnt seem to find anything similar to this.
So to cut to the chase the problem is that there is no sound from internal speaker no matter which source it is from: walkman, sms sound, call ringtone, youtube, etc. So there is no sound at all from internal speaker, but is I connect my earphones I can hear everything. The only thing that fix this is restarting phone. Now there are two things that triggers this phenomenon. First one is when I am switching between silent, vibrate, airplane and normal modes. Another one is when I listen to music with earphones plugged and I plug earphones out without turning music off. I did factory reset, but it didnt do anything. I am on latest build (9.1.A.1.141). So yeah thats pretty much everything.
If you need any more info please ask and ill try to provide it. Thanks in advance.
