SOS!!!! can't use FolderMount - Sony Xperia ZR

I just updated my ZR to android 5.0 (from 4.4) and i used kingroot to get the root. Then i found that FolderMount is not work anymore with this error msg: 'error: only position independent executables(PIE) are supported. '.
It seems like that it can't get the right to access to any path/ folder. But ES and other apps that need root right are still work. How can i fix it? I really need foldermount to mount my huge whatsapp folder and games.
Hope that someone can help me.

[Q] Sideload Wonder Machine (SWM) failing after JH7 update + Root

Hey all -- so i flashed back to JH6 with ODIN, got the JH7 update through Kies Mini, and then rooted. I also decided to use Launcher Pro as my default homescreen launcher.
Now i'm trying to use SWM to sideload some apps, but I always get the error (something like this) FAILED INSTALL PARSE UNKNOWN EXCEPTION ... the program recognizes my device just fine and loads up the .apk just fine but fails on trying to install it onto my phone.
anyone have an idea of what might be going on
SWM is unnecessary after root isn't it

The 2 are not related. You do NOT need to root to use Sideload. The SWM just uses the ADB command from the SDK. You can do this all day long without root.
If you want to install apps from your phone (not your PC) then you need to root and then you need to edit the settings.db file to allow sideload on the phone. You can't get to settings.db without rooting your phone.
Does that help?

sort of not really, as i'm trying to upload apps/widgets from my pc. i want to hold off buying Root Explorer, and apparently Droid Explorer doesnt work on win7 64-bit systems yet ... just kind of odd that SWM can't load to my phone. i either get the INSTALL PARSE FAILURE UNKNOWN EXCEPTION or INSUFFICIENT SPACE or OLDER SDK errors. doesn't make sense to me...
turn debugging on ,
don't put the .apk files in the sideloader folder at all. caused the whole no space avaliable for me when i did that
try that... works for me.
updated with the ota an i'm rooted.
yeah i had debugging on, left the apks in a completely separate folder (didnt put them in the payload folder). the main failure i get is the install parse unknown exception one
im thinking it might actually be the apks i'm trying to upload. i got one apk to upload successfully, so maybe the other ones have some bad code in them. *shrug*
specifically i've been trying to upload the REVOlution transparent apps. all of them fail for me. then i uploaded minimal icons apk just fine.

[SOLVED]Medscape App. Help needed!!

Im a medical student and I really would love to be able to use the newly available Android Medscape app (free from the market) on my phone.
Unfortunately, it says in description of the app that it may have problems with "rooted" phones. Im assuming it means our HD2's running android on NAND as well, because after installing the App on my phone, I am unable to update/download the Clinical reference data required for the app to work offline.
It gives the error "Internet connectivity was interrupted..Please try again"
Any help from the developers or anyone else would be very greatly appreciated

Looking at the description and the error you gave, have you tried disabling any ad-blocking software? It may be something cooked into the ROM - if so, try asking the dev how to disable it. DLing now - i'll post back what I find.
.............................
EDIT:
Ok, having found this question asked on the thread for the ROM I use, you can remove medscape from the adblock 'hosts' list. (find it in \system\etc).
Original Post URL: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11521445&highlight=block#post11521445
I had to copy the file to PC before editing and copied back again using droidexplorer.

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention the ROM im using. Its Core Droid DHD 1.5, and it seems you may be right. It says in the description of the ROM that the "Adds are Blocked (Host files modified)". Is there any way to reverse this host file change?
Fixed it with the help of the developer of the Core Droid ROM. Just opened the app "Add free" and hit "revert". Restored the original host file. Medscape works now.
im having the same issue and clicking the "revert" bottom on AdFree did not fix it
I have uninstalled AdFree and have the same problem all the time. Anybody fixed this?
i had the same problem!
After i revert the hosts file in ad-free, medscape did not update the reference!
So what i did:
I did not unistall ad-free, but:
- i revert the host file 3 times in a row;
- i stopped the access of AD Free from SuperUser (root access);
- and i restart medscape (i killed the process with automatic task killer) and start it again;
- and voila, my htc g1 is updating the reference while i text.
(i don't know what are the steps that make medscape update, but i guess, is the revert host file and restart the app, to it starts didn't knowing that can't access that host to update)
I hope this help you!
Good luck
It works for me, reverted host files, stopped Adfree acces to Superuser and voila!! Medscape is updating again. Thanx
how to correct medscape installation please?thx\
SOLVED!
Just got an OTA update for my flyer and software got updated to version 2.27.1540.32
The android version is 2.2.4 while sense is 1.0
Just for the record, AdFree only works on ROOTED devices. i mentioned in another thread on xda that adfree does not work for me. with this OTA update, my Medscape is finally installing as i type this - - -
Just kill the AdFree app and immediately run Medscape app,it'll definitely take the update.I did the same and it worked
i try looking for file in \system\etc
in use editor to open file host.. thera are a lot of files,
and it make me confuse, where the file "medscape from the adblock 'hosts' list" is ???

Hi everyone!
Well, I've experienced the same "connectivity error" as everyone with a root cellphone, after reinstalling medscape app at my cell. I never had AdFree, and even though I'm able to found the hosts file and take a look of it with my pc it says absolutely nothing about medscape (only 127.0.0.1 localhost and emptyness after), so I guess I must be getting the wrong file or not accesing to it correctly?
I've tried everything you said, but is still not working.
I'm pretty new with android, and I would really aprecciate you help, given the fact that this is one of my favorities app!

Can´t write to system

Hello all,
i have 2 Sony Xperia V mobile phones and i installed the same rom on it (CARBON-LP-5.1.1-UNOFFICIAL-20150812-1159-tsubasa). With one of both i haven´t any issues but with the other one i can´t write to the system folder. I tried ES File Explorer to make the system RW. No error message follows but i can´t write to it. I tried the Mount app and the same result. No error message but i´m not able to write to the system. Apps like Gallery can´t work but no external Storage available.
I installed both phones with the same kind of installation. One works fine one not.
Can anyone help me to find the solution?

file access under Android 11 latest firmware

Hi,
i have problems with file access under latest android 11 rooted firmware. I want to connect through ftp and want to backup files from internal storage and sdcard but with primitive ftpd and rooted access i can not see content in /storage/emulated/0 for me its empty :-(.
I have problems with a tasker task to move files from internal to external storage after the firmware update.
Is there any way to get access again with ftp for the full file system with root?
best regards,
Thomas
Hello,
I just want to know if it was a temporary problem or it's the same on Android 12 too ?
If not, how did you fix this problem please ?
Thank you
the problems exists still on the latest Android 12 version on S10e so still no solution yet :-(
My guess is that this isn't a problem with Android, but that your FTPd service doesn't have root access. If it doesn't have root access, it can't see the folder. If it's not "root aware" it won't be able to ask for root access either. That's my guess.
I'm not familiar with "primitive ftpd" so I don't know if it has this capability, maybe it does.
In the past, for remote access, I have used some file explorer apps that have root capability... those allowed me to remote into the phone. But that was a long time ago - these days I just connect from my phone to the network drive instead, and push files that way (instead of "pulling" from a remote server). This is safer since you aren't leaving an open FTP socket on the phone, which is a bad idea from a security standpoint.
till the last december update (this was an update i made maybe after about one year without updates) all access was fine and since then every access is impossible, its not only ftp, its tasker shell with root access too, worked before fine and now its horrible,
Samsung seems to break some folders, you can access the external sd card with /storage/emulated/[idforsdcard]/ but if you go one level up the folder /storage/emulated/ ist empty and does not show any subfolder, same if you are in /storage/emulated/0/Android and enter the data subfolder samsung takes you to /data
it is so strange what samsung does i don't understand
Thank you very much for your answer
Sorry for this ridiculous question, but even a factory reset can't help you regain access to all your folders ?
Precisely, I also see that Samsung is restricting its phones more and more so that we can't use many functions of our phones as before
I'm currently on Android 10, but with all that I hear, I'm afraid of Android 11 and Android 12
i have fresh installed VC6 Firmware (Android 12 March Update) with factory reset and all access problems still the same, so its the "scoped storage" feature and maybe some samsung addons what leads to this problems
if you want full access to your phone then Android 11 & 12 makes it hard to get and some apps are not optimized for this new scoped storage
FWIW, I have a non-rooted, pure stock phone. I can use FX to go to /storage/emulated/0 and see everything properly. I'm on A11, Snapdragon, S10+.
This implies your app is not being allowed to see the storage. This seems to confirm that it's an app issue - ie, the FTPd may not be able to deal with the new structures on A11/A12. As you noted, it might be this "Scoped Storage" feature... which the app is not able to work with?
