I just updated my ZR to android 5.0 (from 4.4) and i used kingroot to get the root. Then i found that FolderMount is not work anymore with this error msg: 'error: only position independent executables(PIE) are supported. '.
It seems like that it can't get the right to access to any path/ folder. But ES and other apps that need root right are still work. How can i fix it? I really need foldermount to mount my huge whatsapp folder and games.
Hope that someone can help me.
Use Link2SD. Works perfectly on my Xperia ZR.

I know that SD Apps without root has been asked a lot of time so I won't ask about this.
But still I tried to use ADB Bridge to command pm set-install-location 2 to see how it would turn. At first I thought that it worked, but instead I found that it is not working. Plus I got the error "Not enough storage" so I had to switch back to 0 (auto storage location).
Isn't there any way to make use of ADB on our phones to get a working app like APP2SD enable the "Move App" button? Or just a way to do it via the computer?
I'm not really into rooting etc right now, I remember that jailbreak and tweaks were taking a LOT of my time when I was on iOS and I don't want to go back to the custom route with my Z1. I just don't need custom ROMs etc, the phone works like a charm with stock 4.3. Eventually Z2 Apps and Kitkat could make me jump all the way to root but this is off-topic.
So anyway : Is there any way to make use of ADB to enable installation or location change of apps on our SD cards?

Just use folder mount m8, does everything for you, simply pick the folder you want to mount on SD, mount it in the location that the app gives (should be a mirror of the apps path but on the ext SD card) then allow it to mount and you're done.
I've got about 12 huge games installed and i'm still on 9GB.
It works exactly as it should.

Appreciate that but in all fairness root is an app away and quite removable, without root i'm guessing no.
All of the scripts that i've seen over the years that enable this feature all require root or something from the OEM's side to enable it, I think the galaxy S4 had the ability to move apps to SD to combat the low memory that users were left with, but without Sony directly implementing this I think you'll have a hard time doing this.
If it were me i'd root, as i said it's quite removable.
Good luck all the same
Ok guys thank you for the the replies ! Well I wonder if I must root since there can be bootloader locking issues. I'll look for this

You wont have root without unlocked bootloader atm as there are problems with mounting system partition rw without kernel that fixes it, and cjanging kernel requires unlocked bootloader. But you can always downgrade to 4.2.2, root then without unlocking bootloader and either keep using 4.2.2 or backup TA, then update to 4.3 and when you will want to remove root just flash back stock kernel and then restore TA

Hello everyone,
I've just bought a Xperia Z3 Compact (2 days ago) and updated it to Android 5.0.2
I installed Hearthstone and moved it to my SD card, everything went ok, but when I try to initialize the game I get a message that I need to give permission to write into my SD.
So my questions are:
Is this supposed to happen?
Is it possible to give permissions without rooting my phone? I think that ES File Explorer asked for permissions the first time I opened it, but I can't find any configuration to do so...
This seems normal. I have fx file explorers and it requires explicit permission to write to the sd and i sometimes have to reset the permission. You should be able to give permission without rooting, but can only attest to my own experience. Have you tried granting permission yet?

Yes and yes.
The app should request the root of your SD card (or a directory you want it to store its data in), and this will grant it SD write access in this directory and below. It isn't done on the system level, the app should do it.
Hmm I see..
So I reinstalled the application and moved it to the sd before I run it and everything worked out..
Now it seems that I got the permission ai needed
Thank you for your informations, was very helpful

Hello all,
i have 2 Sony Xperia V mobile phones and i installed the same rom on it (CARBON-LP-5.1.1-UNOFFICIAL-20150812-1159-tsubasa). With one of both i haven´t any issues but with the other one i can´t write to the system folder. I tried ES File Explorer to make the system RW. No error message follows but i can´t write to it. I tried the Mount app and the same result. No error message but i´m not able to write to the system. Apps like Gallery can´t work but no external Storage available.
I installed both phones with the same kind of installation. One works fine one not.
Can anyone help me to find the solution?
Hey everyone,
I have a Xperia E1 D2104 and I deleted the apk responsible for searching media in the phone. I always used the ES File Explorer to clean junk files and this time I think I deleted the Media Storage apk. So what happens its that I open the music player or the album and doesn't show anything. I tried using other players but didn't work too... But my files are on the SD Card, I know because it shows when I open the ES File Explorer. I almost found a solution but I couldn't because it need to clean the data from the Media Storageon the Applications Settings.
And I think the only method that can resolve my problem is to getting the stock apk: the Media Storage apk (com.android.providers.media). I searched and didn't find the version I need (4.4.2 Kit Kat).
So, I really need someone to give me this apk and I would be very grateful if someone could help me.
Thank you guys and sorry for the english, I'm brazillian and didn't found a solution in brazillian forums.
I would suggest you to re-flash system partition tho... Restoring "Media Storage" will lead to further problems... If you still want the apk - http://www.filedropper.com/mediaprovider
