Samsung Keyboard problem (disappearing while typing) - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I just switched from a Galaxy S3 to a Note 5 N9208 and I'm very happy with the Note so far, it's a really great device.
BUT... I'm having a really strange problem. It doesn't matter whether I'm typing in whatsapp or in the Google Chrome browser, the Samsung Keyboard seems to "crash" (or simply disappear) randomly. Yesterday it happened about 5 times while writing a friend on whatsapp. The Keyboard disappears and sets me back to the Chat menu, it's the same as if I would press the back button twice.
I'm using the german Keyboard (qwertz), but it also happened on the UK Keyboard before... also I have updated the Keyboards in the Settings menu.
Apparently the Keyboard never crashed while using the s-pen to type in the letters.
I'd be very thankful for any assistance I'd like to keep the Samsung Keyboard as I think it is one of the best.

Bump same problem here
Hey I have the same problem here on the SM-N9208 but my keyboard is Swiftkey, so it sounds like its not a keyboard problem but an OS one... Using SpaceX kernel, pretty much stock...
Anyone else?
Wow Low Memory Killer sucks! The phone has freaking ~ 2 GB free and I see this below. Lowest score is right in front of the user interacting with the UI? Whoever wrote this stuff really sucks !!!

Yeah but apparently the LMK has nothing to do with the Kernel... I've tried various DHA / FHA settings none worked. As we're on 5.1.1, we're supposed to be using FHA, but build.prop is full with settings for DHA. All DHA settings were commented out and added ones for FHA, still without success.... Also I can't use SkyHigh I'm on the SM-N9208.
Try this:
sys.config.spcm_enable=true
to
sys.config.spcm_enable=false

How should your phone perform after mod? 2.3

hi all i just modded my phone to gingerv20
and after my phone now looks better with 2.3 but feels weird ...
- my apps are unresponsive ...i keeps getting app that is not responding and after closing it / rebooting my phone i still is unresponding forcing me to redownlaod the app again
-the camera has extra feature like the fixed focus and the timed function but after clicking it , it still has no effect
-the memory always seems to be very low ( 20mb usually) making me constantly needing to task kill it
-mx player don't seems to be working =(
-the messanger seems to be pretty bland all white only ..is this normal?
-system seems to be little unstable ...a little lag sometimes ~
- the MARKET IS FREAKING LAG!!
++++
+with the dsp manager my sound output is very good and darn clear! love it!
+the phone looks gorgeous
+album is gorgeous
does these all happens to you? share your experience
because of the laggin market and unstable Os imma considering of xrecover to my 2.1 ...should i?
Well, the unresponsive apps don't occour with me.
But most of those things are normal for me.
If you don't like the Messaging app download GO SMS.
Down-Grade to the old market to get rid of lag.
For me the Settings are fine.
If you don't like themes you can always get one for theme chooser. (Preferably ICS by A-Chep)
Leave a thanks if I helped!
And NO, don't downgrade to 2.1.
Just if you need help, ask or PM me.
I felt the same as you when I first got GingerBread.
I was 'll like "what it ", "hmmm" and so on.
I'm over 1 month using it and its GREAT!
The reason some apps are bland is because doixanh wanted a smooth and fast version of GB.
Also, 20-26 mb of RAM IS normal for me.
I have an app called "Speed Booster Lite" from the Market.
It clears cache. And I usually get 40-60 free memory.
If you're lucky, maybe even 80!!
I have about 35 market apps installed at the moment.
Leave a thanks if I helped!
hi irish!
imma try out the app now ~ but my android market is no joke...very very very lag..my phone gets lag when i open the wifi but from the benchmark test i improved from 441 to 951 holy goodness ...but can't feel much different ...and which 2.3 mod do you use?
unlock boatloader and flash custom kernel and your phon will fly and benchmark with alfs kernel in atuntu 1750 min
xrecovered to my 2.1 ...my god the market app just crashes non stop ...so much till i point the finger at my phone ( really pissed!! ) i think i will download a more stable mod maybe a month or 2 later ...gonna rest my mind from modding ...too complex...anyway can bootloader be used on an unmodded phone? and i heard it's very very risky , seeing the guide make me go ??? so complex ...what is kernel anyway? ohoh 1 last question!! is Jit same as bootloader?

[Q] My keyboard hides randomly

I am using Swiftkey Tablet, but it happens with the default samsung keyboard as well.
I will be typing an email or filling in a text box or something and as I am typing the keyboard hides. I end up pressing a button or link instead of the next letter. It happens on random letters, no pattern.
It is driving me crazy. I love my Note but this makes me hate it. Today I sent a half a sentence to someone important.
I am on stock samsung ICS and I think it's been ongoing since the first ICS over the air update.
Does no one else have this issue? please let me know. especially if you are on ICS stock and using swiftkey.
ics and SwiftKey NOT tablet mode. don't face this issue. Try clearing the data of app in settings-applications and download the language pack again.
If not try the normal swift key once and check
Actually, my girlfriend's Hercules does the same thing a fair amount. As does my mom's Kindle fire and my sister's vivid. Think it is an ics out of memory thing, but I might be wrong.
Apple innovates and Samsung copies, huh? Tell that to my Galaxy Note.

No change. I cleared the data for switkey 3 tablet, uninstalled it and installed (and purchahsed) the other swiftkey but I still have the same issue.
It even happened while i was Swyping. I know it's an ICS/Samsung issue. I hope to find a place to report bugs like these for Samsung.

[Q] [help] problem with Xperia T

I don't know is this really a problem or not, but it really bother. my broblem is about multitasking, it looks like my phone doesn't have multitasking (like ios! )
for example I open opera and let it load some pages then ttpod and play a music, after them go to an explorer, and I go back to opera it's now closed and I have to re-load the pages.
overall I can't keep more than 2-3 apps open at the same time.
is there any solution for this problem?

we have to write English, otherwise we'll get kicked
this is not so normal, actually the only possible limitation for background proccess is placed in Settings/Developers Options
here you can find how many apps are keep alive when you switch to another, and if you haven't manipulate this part, there should be somthing else...
try it, set it to the "Default Number" or "Max"
Or use chrome, I have no problems with that keeping pages loaded

Qorbunet dadash.
I've tried background process in the setting, but I still have this problem. There is no "max" option, only "at most 4 processes"
I've tried some tweaks with some apps such as Pimp my Rom and Android tuner but to be honest it made it even worse! and I had to do full wipe!
@greg, it's not just about opera, I can't run more than 2-3 apps in background.
I have stock 4.1.2 with doomkernel v7 rotted and unlocked.

you use opera for FB, hm?
that version of Opera mini comes with many bugs, one of them is AutoRotation, when you rotate your phone, it jumps out of the app, maybe another bug is what you are facing, not being able to chache the pages in background, MAYBE...
try another browser, like Default or Dolphin or Chrome, and see if the problem is still there with those apps, if not, then the problem is BUGGY opera mini, which i guess so

Oh, please! IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT OPERA! I said it "just as an example"
I can't keep running more than 2-3 apps open at the same time. For example I open A and then B an keep them open then go to menu and open app C, by opening C my phone closes app A!

i DID understand, Kamiar...
it's so weird
never experienced this issue, in NO phone of mine
i know this might a bit noobie guide, but first of all, uninstall unnecessary apps, maybe you've loaded your phone with a ton of apps, which certainly eat up RAM even if they are not running, that's the way Android manages RAM, so, uninstall whatever thing you don't use...
if the problem still exists there, then update your phone or flash another firmware, for example go back to ICS to see it helps or not..
and let us know, we will hepl you as much as possilbe, bro

All my apps are less than 80, I've uninstalled or freezed many apps by titanium back up. I have always more than 200-300 free RAM, and with a task killer I have about 400-500 free RAM space.
I have this problem since I've bought this phone (more than 3 months) and during this time I always had this problem, but recently it became worse.
Hello my best friend kamiar

ooooooooffffff, if you could fix rotation bug, it would be highly appreciated bro

Removal of bloatware really helps here. I find Firefox sometimes closes as it uses a lot of memory, but it beats all others in terms of usability + ability to download any files (sometimes chrome or stock just downloads a dumb .txt file, can't believe they still haven't fixed that) but yeah remove useless apps it helps a lot

[Q] What's Your Setup Like on Null?

Looking to get some input on what you select in Aroma when installing null and then what other apps you actually use.
Just got a Mocha GG yesterday at Best Buy and am debating on needing Null or not for internet access..
Things I am looking forward to using the GG for:
Checking FB ( works I guess, nothing spectacular )
Snapchat? - Forgot to try it and see if it works.
Qucklook at emails - Stock works decent
Games? - I am thinking some basic games...maybe bejeweled or something to kill some time and battery.
I know all of that will require internet on the GG so, I'll prob go back to null. ( i tried it and went back to stock )
--------------------------------------
What did you select in Aroma?
What apps do you use?
Is it worth it?
Any input would be cool.
Thanks

Thats very impressive may give that a try. I did turn it down to 1200ghz but I see your point it doesnt need all that juice. Now I noticed you said you installed the Samsung apps. What does this provide? Also what notifications are you getting pushed to your phone when on bluetooth?

The samsung apps provide all the apps in the stock rom I still like to use that stuff like the dialer and address book etc as for notifications they don't work for me as I am not using a samsung phone I am using a sony z ultra with GPE rom combination.

Phone is soooo slow!!!

Afternoon peeps,
Recently my Mini 2 has just ground to an unusable, good-for-nothing pile of crap.
- It is soooo slow to do anything.
- It rotates the screen when it's not being rotated.
- It locks in the middle of performing tasks.
- It blacks out for 30 seconds or so before becoming responsive again.
- Voice on Google Maps or Runkeeper apps keeps glitching.
I'm running CM12 [12-20150411-NIGHTLY-memul] with TWRP recovery.
Reinstalling the ROM returns the phone to a normal function, temporarily, before descending into chaos.
Clearing the cache partition sort of works....for a little while.
I/O Scheduler is ROW.
Storage isn't anywhere near full with 3.65Gb free.
Available RAM is on average about 170Mb
My thoughts are that an app is causing this.
Can anyone throw some troubleshooting ideas into the pot?
Thanks

Clearing cache and ram just makes it worst as Android works different from PC's.
It seems you're in the good path as just need to find what APP is doing that. Providing that you run CM12 without extras and its ok, than try install/uninstall one app at the time until you find the one its causing trouble

I thought that might be the case. Also, I'm gettimg a lot of Background App crashes/Not responding, but there're no patterns. OneFootball, Media Storage, System UI, Google+, Facebook Messenger all make an appearance.

Well CM12 its a bit buggy so if you gonna run high end apps i suggest stock ROM.
Regarding RAM, android manages that pretty well for you. The more ram in use, the better things work. (if you know how RAM works) same thing with cache. So don't use stupid programs to clear RAM as they are useless.
You can google for more info.

Interesting, the reason I'm on CM with this HTC is because the Stock ROM also showed the same symptoms, so I moved to CM to try to cure. I really liked the stock UI and was reluctant to move away from it.
I do know RAM and that does make sense - more stuff in RAM = quicker access to resouces, but surely its still a good troubleshooting step to clear down if these problems arise?

Like i said, Android will clear the apps when it need to open resources for another.
Reading back your posts, you might need to do full re-installation .
If you install Google Apps bundle, start with re-flashing that. if still no good then go for the all ROM.
But you say that it also happened with stock rom so finding the app that's causing that its crucial.
Also note the apps that stay open in the background (click the 2 Squares) only nine stay open but all you need its a game to keep eating all the resources.

I've begun by uninstalling OneFootball and Facebook and performance has improved somewhat. This might be quite a long process as im going go leave a day or so between each action.
I have fully reinstalled before, but selected to restore data and apps from backup. Maybe I'll try setting up as a new device if it comes to it. Want to avoid that tho.

Did you find a solution? I'm facing about the same issue with my HTC One Mini 2 after installing CM12. It ran perfectly smooth in the beginning but now it is soooo slow and it takes forever to load almost any apps (especially Facebook and Snapchat).

I think it's either Facebook or Facebook Messenger, probably more messenger.
I first uninstalled Facebook Messenger and performance improved. Still a little glitchy, but much better.
Then I uninstalled Facebook. Not much change.
Facebook is now reinstalled, but messenger isn't and I've been happier with the phone.
I'm still getting some background apps crashing, but not as much as before uninstalling FB messenger.
Not really a 'solution' as it could be different for you, but as mentioned previously, start uninstalling an app at a time. Leave a few days inbetween so you can tell if it changed anything. If not, reinstall and try again.
Same issue here with mini 2..i dont have facebook or that football app
