purchased.
love it on the iOS
Bought it without knowing what the hell it was. Über-gay. Ha. Not that got anything against that. Just pointing it out. (Yeah, I go by Mr. Obvious).
It could use some help when loading screens. Kinda slow, but hey, other than that it is great. Fun, straightforward, smooth gameplay. How about an online leaderboard?
Looks like a Barbie game.

The android app uses openfeint.
The online version (http://games.adultswim.com/robot-unicorn-attack-twitchy-online-game.html) has online leaderboards

Lags quite a bit on my galaxy s captivate running 2.2.
After a couple of restarts it began to run a bit better but there's still quite a bit of lag, for example when dashing through a star.
Overall, doesn't seem nearly as polished as the iOS version. My old second gen iPod touch would run this game perfectly.
I hope the developers actually support the app and iron out all the bugs, not just forget about it after the initial release.

Same experience, but my description is more colourful: it runs like absolute s$%t on my Galaxy S. Seconds per frame, not frames per second.

Runs well on my Galaxy S (Android 2.3.3).
It also runs quite slow and FC's every now and then on my Galaxy S 2.2.1 at 1.5Ghz... I was a little disappointed. My friend with a G2 with CM7 at 1.57Ghz could barely run it as well. The funny thing is that it ran smooth as could be on my girlfriend's Aria running 2.2 @806Mhz when her phone barely runs Angry Birds... When it runs it is fun though.
runs a little laggy on galaxy s 4g but great game i hope they come out with more I went and bought it after I saw this post.

I love Robot Unicorn. Used to get on the flash version for a long time but hit a lull. Bought this when it first came out and it has restored my love and admiration for all things Robot Unicorn.

game is really laggy on galaxy s 2.2 and sometimes the buttons don't work
i love the flash version
and i would love this android version, if it would work right...
the problems are no fcs, or crashes, it scause my lcd density.
only lcd density 240 is working with the game, as soon as you have something else the unicorn dies instantly at the start ;( you cant do anything ;(
Yeah I've heard as much. Unfortunate, to say the least. Haven't messed with my DPI in a while, in part because a few apps just didn't play well. I wish i could still do it, and hopefully in time I won't have reasons to not do so on my end. This was even before RUA so I never noticed it. Hoping for an update .. for more than a few issues.

So the recent update removed open faint and that seems to have done nothing to improve performance this game i think has shown me how bad adobe air really is... There is no other reason why a game this simple lags so bad that it's unplayable.... I got my. 99 cents worth out of it but if every adult swim game ideas going to be as quick and dirty as this then I don't see paying for them at all
Been an N7 owner for months and it's been a freakin' delight. It has exceeded my (demanding) expectations and has earned the #1 spot for my go-to device whenever I need to do anything online, or do anything digital for that matter. My Galaxy Nexus sits on my desk relegated to it's role as a phone, and my laptop is almost never used at all.
I run it bone stock, locked and un-rooted. It's fast, reliable and a hands-down joy to use. When I think that I paid $199 for it, it just broadens my smile just a bit more.
Just wanted to spread a little love here.
Agreed 100%. I still use my gnex alot because the screen is just a pleasure to look at.
Only downside is the lack of color calibration, mines a little yellowish.
I ordered the dock from the play store and it will be here today so in sure I'll just use it more now.
Def root it. Easy and the ROMs out are awesome.

I gotta say.. Paranoid Android made me love my N7 that much more.
Another agree ...rooted but mostly stock 4.2.2 ..the IPad sits idle most of the time.. I did install Hosts and have root explorer, etc.
I have been all over rooting my GNex - right from the start - and it still is, running a great ROM, latest radios, etc.
But, my N7 remains untouched and for some reason, I like it that way. I use Nova to provide a little customization from a launcher perspective, but otherwise, there's nothing else I am jonesin' for.
Never thought that a tablet would provide any utility for me, especially since I have such a cool customizable phone with a big screen, and a laptop for when I need that bigger screen with a keyboard. But somehow, the N7 squeezed in there and bumped 'em both out of that space.

Forgot to mention...
Besides my Gnex and laptop being relegated to 2nd and 3rd string status as my go-to devices, I've noticed that I also fire-up my TV much less.
Even though I can watch all the shows I want on my laptop, there's something about the 7" size of the N7 that makes it the perfect thing to grab when I want to park on the couch and watch a show. Frankly, I never thought I would even use a tablet this much, and if the N7 wasn't such a freakin' joy to use, I def would still sitting with my laptop.
Did I say?
I love this freakin' thing.

I too am surprised at how much I love this thing (32Gb purchased locally) I need almost nothing else for consumption. Since I've gotten a hold of this thing all I've really used my PC for is transcoding movies to copy over to the Nexus 7.
The other surprise is how well it works as a Kindle. Why anyone would buy the Amazon branded tablet is a mystery to me. I haven't so much as touched my second gen 6" Kindle in over a month.
I just wish it had infrared...
First time on this site in quite a while. I'm off to find out what's cool to put on my N7!
love mine, root Paranoid android, trinity kernel ,6000 in benchbark
Root it!

I also have a N7 and love it as well
I run completely stock like you
However, with wugfresh
It's a 1-click to unlock
And another click to root
Furthermore both can be undone with 1 click as well
But just being able to make a nandroid backup alone is enough reason to root
Plus there are several "must have" apps for rooted devices only
So I strongly suggest you reconsider
Run stock... But too easy not to root
I also have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0)
I have to say the color seems so much better
But there's nothing like a Nexus :victory:
AW: I Love This Freakin' Thing...
The N7 is definitely a best buy. I have the 16GB version. Sure, vibration would be nice for gaming, but I don't really mind. A better camera would also be nice, but, hey! The only alternative I would consider would be the 32GB UMTS (?) version.
just got my nexus 7 a week ago this past friday and i love the thing mine is unlocked and rooted but runs the stock os i have stick mount and a otg cable so i can more memory along with mx player which is a great player
Months later, I am driven to dredge-up this old thread.
Gotta say it again - I still love this freak'in thing!
Snappy performance, beautiful screen, long battery life, wonderful build quality, 100% reliable. It is still my go-to device for just about everything.
Never rooted. Bone stock.

New user and I agree with you totally. It's really a brilliant device. When I read the OP I was totally expecting the "but..." :silly:
Before I go through the process of selling my Nexus 7 and get this tablet, does anybody play Pocket Starships on the NST? If so, how well does it play? Is there any lag?

I can guarantee you this little game plays fine. Especially compared to a nexus 7 ( which is by no means even a comparison), no matter which version you have.

I can indeed tell you this game works fine on the tablet. No lag whatsoever.
Thanks so much guys for the reassurance. Fed Ex will be delivering my tablet on Thursday. Sad to say I'm addicted to this game.
Not sure if its just me but every once and a while the game just stops responding, and the chat on the top of the screen seems to be slightly cut off.

I figured out the issue. The game doesn't seem to like 220 DPI
The one thing I've noticed and I've noticed this on my old Nexus 7 as well as my iPad Mini (Retina). If I go to multiple sectors, it start to slow down the rate at which it shoots. I have to exit out, close out the app and reopen the app.
Could someone do me a favor and try installing and playing this game after they upgrade to Lollipop? A friend upgraded his Nexus 5 to Lollipop and the game wouldn't play on his phone afterwards.
I love this phone. It's everything I could want and more. I couldn't wait to get it when I did.
But, I have a question.
I've noticed (every day) that there's some pretty bad lag in The Simpsons Tapped Out. Is it just me? This is really the only game I play (because it sucks my battery down seemingly 10%/10-20 mins) but the lag is awful.
On my Kindle Fire there's no issue at all. Scrolls around my town like butter. I would have thought that it would be as good or better on the Nexus, but thus far I've suffered through.
Does anyone else play this game that can tell me if it happens for them too? Is there something I should change? I'm stock rooted. Tried both stock and BenzoCore kernels (not sure if it's a kernel thing) but so far no love.
I have the same. Sometimes it even force close. On my tablet, Asus memopad 10 or my previous phone, Sony xperia z. There is no lag at all.

At least it's not just me. I wonder why it's happening, though. This phone is far more powerful than the Kindle Fire so it shouldn't be having these issues.

What kind of performance and what OS comes with the HD 7 Second generation? I assume you can root it. Woot has them on sale today and I'm wondering if I can use it for some apps that I can't read or see as well on my phone. Will it run Angry birds ok? What about some older games for comparison like HTR racing?
Hey I just stumbled across this thread because i was looking for a newer alternative to mine.
It is an okay tablet all around you just really need to know what you get yourself into.
First of all there is no working custom rom for it. So you will have to stay on Amazon Kitkat which is a very limited and at times annoying Rom since the menu takes too many taps to get anywhere. (3 taps to turn off wifi for example) and widgets that make it easier arent compatible as far as i have found even when rooted (rooting is quite the pain)
It also gets quite slow if you add the google play store from too many services running on it and you cant get rid of the amazon stuff without some things breaking.
For me i will switch to a quad core Tablet with a working aosp rom to be able to customize it a bit more.
Just playing some games or using it as a reader is does work quite well though. While the keyboard and launcher feel somewhat laggy at times, in games that aren't out of the cpus range like angry birds and clash royale it actually plays very smoothly.
I'm mostly switching because I can't change some things like the lockscreen and annoyingly designed settings menu and the laggy keyboard.
Also because i can get a much better/newer tablet for around 40€ around here and sell it for a similiar price apparently. It's okay for the price but you can probably get something much better. With a quad core if you keep looking/buy used on amazon where you still get warranty.

That's enough right there for me to pass. Not to mention the slowness you mentioned. Thanks. I passed on that one.
I have this generation of Kindle and there's plenty of ROMS for it. I bought this tablet 2 or 3 years ago for $100, and installed a CM ROM on it at the time. I recently installed a MM ROM on it and it works better than when I first got it.

I bought the same exact tablet from the Woot sale. There are plenty of ROMs including an official Cyanogen: https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_tate
It might pop up again, for $30 or whatever I ended up paying it was a pretty good deal.
