[MOD/HOW-TO] Disable screen-on when receiving SMS Messages - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dees anyone know if this mod exists? I am looking all over for it for my n920i?
Thanks

u can get lightflo and control all notifications and u have the option of disabling enabling screen on.

If you are rooted, you can edit data/data/com.android.mms/shared_prefs/ and edit com.android.mms_preferences.xml and change the value attribute for "pref_key_backlight" to "false".
(Do this at your own risk. It works for me, but I won't support it.)

SMS delete confirmation / font color

Hi,
Does somebody know how to desactivate the confirmation of deleting a sms, coz actually they go in the trash can (no need to confirm then if want to delete or no from incoming sms list) ??
Also, is it possible to change the font in the sms page, i mean when we open a incoming sms ? Would get it in black on white page.
Thanks a lot
Go to messaging > Tools > Options > Message Tab > uncheck 3rd option "Warn when deleting maessagin...".
As for fonts. I dont know.
Thanks a lot !!!
Actually i saw already that option, but i couldn't get in... maybe i had a message selected, so that field couldn't be clicked !!
Anyway, thanks
For the font color i'm still looking for
Does anyone know how to deactivate this in tf3d? I find it a bit dumb going through the effort of pressing menu -> delete only to get a confirmation.
I tried the above, but it didn't work, I'm guessing that's just for the inbox.
Thanks.

Vibrate on notifications/sms

Hi
is there a way to set the nexus to ring AND vibrate when i receive a sms?
thx
You should check the settings.
Go to your Messaging application.
Hit menu.
Settings.
Notification Settings.
Vibrate <= that is the one you want to check.
thank you, i guess it was pretty straightforward but i didnt think of it, i thought that notifications from the sound/notifications is applied to sms and didnt check messaging options

[Q] Disable Gmail Light Notification??

How can i disable the Gmail notification light in XperiaSP without disabling the notification text info themselves for new emails?
I tried using the Illumination Bar app to disable it, but no luck.
Also, does anyone know if the other newer Xperia models give more items in the "Light Effects" section, because it would be really good if Gmail/email existed there so you could disable it, but unfortunately it's very lacking at the moment with only call, text and alarm settings.
Maybe enable the Stamina Mode and then tick all those apps you want to be active in standby, (dont tick Gmail then)

Some issues with Nexus 6

So I got my phone yesterday, I noticed the ringtones increase in volume and there is no way to change it and I also don't have the option to hide sensitive data on the lock screen for emails and text messages. I checked for an update on my phone but it says it's up to date. I looked up tips and tricks for lollipop and some of the stuff that's mentioned in the posts, I don't have the options to use them, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Yeah there is no way to change the ascending ringtone..i dont like it.
you can turn off the messages on the lockscreen by going to
settings/sound & notifications/When device is locked
Please search next time there are ~5 different OPs discussing this.

I want the notifications on the lock screen but I want to hide the actual text from the message, so if someone looks at my screen it shows a message from so and so but the actual message portion is hidden.

[Q] 2 Questions in dire need of being answered.

There are 2 things bugging me at this point and want to know if i am just overlooking the solution. The first thing is can we remove the auto brightness slider from the Notification Bar? I have looked and searched all over i cant seem to remove it. Second thing is is there any way to stop the screen from turning on when i receive i new text message using the default messages apps? I usually dont use default messaging apps however i want to use the edge lighting and people edge notifications. Anyone figured out how to get rid of these 2 issues?

Unfortunately the brightness slider can not be removed as it's built into the framework, also no way to disable screen wake with stock text messaging app (until we get root if it ever happens)

Text Message screen - Have you tried going into the text message app, swipe left, under Advanced, Settings, uncheck Enable Popup? My screen does not wake when I get a text.

I have to second this - my screen doesn't light up when I get a message ... BUT I also use the Samsung SMS app and not the Verizon one. I don't even care if the VZW one is better, I refuse to use Big-Red branded apps.
As for the brightness slider, it appears this is now baked into the framework without any option of removing. I'm sure it would be an easy fix if we had root, but you'll have to be patient on that front.
