My phone configuration
AT&T Note 3
Stock firmware, rooted with TowelRoot, few modifications with wanam.
Haven't changed/modified anything system level on phone other than few visual changes with Wanam Xposed
Problem
All the saved wifi profiles are getting deleted. Happened twice in last month. I do not see any reason why it happened. Today, I came to work, it connected to wifi. An hour later I saw that phone disconnected from wifi and was using mobile data. I went to wifi setting to find that all the saved wifi profiles were deleted. (It only showed one saved profile "attwifi" profile which I think is the default comes with the phone). Now I have to save all wifi profiles again for work, home, friends' homes etc.
Solution
This is where you come in the picture.
Has any one of you seen something similar?
Is it a known issue?
Can this be related to Google "Sync App Data"? Is Google syncing empty wifi profiles for some reason?
Do you guys know solution/workaround for this?
(I will update the solution section when there is a solution available, so all future readers don't have to pile through pages of comments to find the right solution)
Bumping
I've been having this issue. It's a PITA!
I am not rooted.
I assume this issue is very rare and only few of us are seeing it. That's why nobody is replying to this thread. A quick google search found a lot of similar forums but no solution
It's not particularly rare- in fact I have a different but similar situation: my phone will not discover new SSID's, thus cannot connect to them.
You'll find this website isn't always helpful; this thread has had hundreds of views, yet no responses.
Tis just tough luck
I have this problem too. Not only losing l the Wifi but also all my personal settings, such as sounds in unlocking, typing etc. Drives. Me mad

Mine does the exact same thing as yours. Every couple of weeks or so all of my wifi networks just disappear. I've tried googling with no success. I just can't seem to find an answer either. I even have general/backup and reset/backup my data unchecked. My Note3 did this both when I was unrooted and now that I am rooted. It is a real pain.
Well, lets hope that someone will have a fix for that in the future. The WiFi profiles are getting wiped like once a month so its not very annoying but I hope it doesn't wipe my SD card or my personal data.
I have unchecked the Google backup for now, lets see if it fixes the issue.
@K-Alzwayed has a great thread going with a bunch of fixes it looks like #2 in his thread might fix this, you might want to check it out and see if that works for you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2793441
For a workaround (needs root), try saving a copy of the wifi configuration file and then the next time you lose your settings overwrite the file with the backup version
Code:
/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf

Yes, check out my thread and see if it will help you. I used to have a very similar issue until this fix. So, fingers crossed.

I just made the change to the build.prop file so I hope this is the solution. Time will tell...

Just an update. So far so good. I've been going on a month now with none of my wifi profiles disappearing. :good:

Is anyone running the GNL and unable to swipe right to access your Google now cards? It just stopped working for me all of a sudden. Anyone else notice this?

Check in google settings and see if now got turned off.
No problems with mine.
Working fine for me as well. Maybe try temporarily switching launchers, clear cache and data for the GNL app, and then switch back.
Thanks for the replies. It started working again out of nowhere. It was very strange. I was doing very deliberate swipes to the right to try to get the cards screen to appear, but nothing would happen. Just give the "bounce" effect as if there were no more screens to show. Well it's working now.

Yeah I was going to say this, I recently factory reset and was freaking out because I couldn't swipe to get it either, then I realized I had to turn it on first.
This will be off topic. I never used those cards as Google Now is not supported in Turkey. Well, i don't care that but need to mention Apple supports even Siri in Turkish and that AI can talk Turkish but Google doesn't even support their Maps app in Turkey, let alone google talking Turkish. This is a big difference between both companies in customer care department.
Seriously, can somebody fill me in on what it's supposed to do on our devices?
On my old nexus 5, it did exactly what it was supposed to do: disable the lock screen when a trusted device or trusted place was setup. This was really nice for when I was connected to my bluetooth speakers at home, or even just using my home address. I wouldn't have to unlock the phone with a lock pin or anything. Just turn it on and bam, right where it was before the screen went off.
On the note 5, and I've tried everything, it doesn't seem to do jack sh*t. I've checked settings and removed trusted places and devices and really added them, but the screen is always locked.
Please tell me I am missing something, as that was an awesome feature on my old phone, and I'd like to secure with a fingerprint or pink when not at home, while not having to do so in a safe environment.
Works fine for me. There is still a lock screen but all it requires is a swipe. Otherwise my fingerprint is needed.

Works fine. However, go into the same setting where you turned it on and make sure it hasn't turned off. I have found, for some reason, that it turns off by itself sometimes. Usually when you first turn it on and/or after you do a battery pull reset.
When I am connected to my cars Bluetooth as a trusted device, I have to swipe and then use the fingerprint to unlock the phone. It wont even let me just use the fingerprint to unlock the screen. How are you guys getting it to work? Did it work out of the box for you?
I don't have to do that in my car - just swipe. It had worked correctly for me from daily 1...
I believe it times out after 4 hours, so I do have to use fingerprint 1st thing in the morning. But that's it.
Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
It's not working right for me neither. Still locks when I'm at home (my only trusted location) and is a hit or miss when it's on my body. Trusted Bluetooth works like a charm though. I think it may have something to do with the near 200 packages I have disabled, but I have neither the time nor the inclination to go testing each package to see which one works.

Strange that it works for some and drives others of us crazy. I used it forever without incident on my nexus4.
For those that have it working:
1) Is fingerprint the standard security that you use?
2) Do you have/use Samsung Pay?

1 - yes.
2 - no. Samsung Pay doesn't support any of my cards.

This is driving me nuts. Worked so easily on my Nexus4. Things I've tried:
* changing lock type (finger, pattern, pin)
* multiple Bluetooth devices for trusted device (including adding and removing)
* enabling ALL disabled packages and bloat
* uninstalling Samsung Pay
Still nothing. Wondering if maybe this is carrier specific... I'm on Tmo, others?
same here, I just canceled my smart lock, to live normally now. otherwise I get upset.
Yeah this doesn't work for me either. I see the lock, but swipe just then brings me to fingerprint. Same with setting my GPS / home as a trusted location. Never worked for me.

I found out why smartlock doesn't work for my home location. My gps is out of whack. It's about 20-30 minutes off and I can't find a way to fix it without root. This phone's a dud. Hope the note 6 is a vast improvement.

The whole phone design is a dud because the GPS on your one phone doesn't work? OK...

No sir. The design is actually exquisitely beautiful. But I have been running into one disappointment after another with this phone. That didn't happen with my Note 2. Granted, that was many many moons ago, but I can't think of one complaint I had with that phone. So yes, comparatively speaking, in my mind it's a dud and I sincerely hope they get the next one right.
Sent from my SM-N920V
That's fine, it's a dud for your uses. That's unfortunate.
Each to their own. This is my 4th note, and my favorite one at that. There are a few things I would like different, but I am OK with it as is.

There must be a way to recalibrate it
No issues on AT&T Note 5. I've used both a Moto 360 and Gear S2 as smart unlock devices when connected. At pairing I got prompted to set it up as a trusted device and since then they've worked perfectly.
I use fingerprint lock and both Samsung Pay and Android Pay.
Working fine for me too. Used it first with my car, a Sony Smartwatch 3 and now LG Urbane. Never had any issue and works as intended. Only time it failed was when GPS was off and was using trusted location. Have you tried a reset? And is the 'On-Body' lock detection on?
Is anyone else having Waze issues with their Note 8(N950F)? I thought it was Mylink in my truck that was messing up, but running it stand alone doesn't work either. It just flashes white like it wants to start up, but doesn't.
I was using Renovate ROM, but then flashed my stock back and it does the same... wondering if anyone else is having issues..
waze ? wft is that ? can you be more descriptive please ?

I think it's a map related app, tells you about traffic, accidents, or something like that. I remember accidents used to show up in Google Maps that were reported by Waze. Sounds familiar cause I remember hearing something a while back about Google buying them out.

Answering with "wtf is that?", guess you don't use it, since you don't know what app that is. Quick Google search would have told you.
But to answer your question it's a navigation app, similar to Google maps.

I Don't use it much, usually google map is enough, but it works fine on my t-mo version (SD). Did you check permissions? Maybe wipe cache and storage for waze and start setup again?

Yah, did pretty much what you just stated. I'll give it another go, after I restore to stock.. I just wanted to be sure that it does work on the note 8 and wasn't completely broken.
Appreciate it.

Correct, they bought them out and can now also be used with android auto if you have that option in your car/truck like I do(Chevy Mylink) Accidents still show up on Google maps reported by Waze.

Thanks for the info. Nope my old Tacoma don't have any of the fancy new technology. Google Maps is fine enough for me. I have a short daily commute anyway & rarely hit traffic.
But maybe on my next truck I'll give the app a try.

Yup, I really didn't pay attention to that feature when the salesman was telling me about it, got home, tried it out and was like, hell ya! [emoji2]
It's nice to have it on the 8 inch screen. I still use Google maps, it's just nice to use Waze for trips where I know how to get there so I can get reports of cops, etc..

So, I found what I was doing to make it crash on me. It would seem when I restore the app-data with titanium backup, it will crash, no matter if I wipe cache/dalv. Without restoring app-data, works fine... [emoji111]

Waze crashes on my note 8 any time I receive or make a phone call.
No luck anymore. Waze will not show up in Android Auto whatever I do. Clear apps cache, delete waze and AA and reinstall them from Play Store, no change. Waze works on its own, Android Auto works, but they don't seem to 'see' each other...

Hello everyone,
Is anyone else here also experiencing issues with printing documents after installing the last trial update? I did that yesterday.
When I want to print something I just get a force close of the app (no matter where I'm trying to print from)
What I tried so far is deleting cache and storage of the print spooler, and reboot the phone too. But it doesn't seem to fix it.
I wonder if someone else having the same problem, or maybe have solved it.
Thanks in advance for the reply!

Everything is fine here.
I am able to print to a laserjet pro printer with no issues. Device is up to date.
I can also print to Brother wifi printer
