I'm still on .200 firmware altought the Sony support homepage already shows .232 as the current version in my region. Got a open phone (not carrier branded) and I'm wonderong if there is any trick to "force" getting an update. Thanks, Gescha

Is your phone rooted?
If yes - did you just freeze or uninstall bloatware?
Sometimes, when you uninstall, not freeze the preinstalled bloatware, the phone is not recognized properly in "Software update" and, in most cases, will never get notification with the update available for it.

Hello
I updated my I9305 to 4.3 and then rooted with CF-Auto-Root-m3-m3zh-gti9305, the problem is whenere i try to access SuperSU or an application tries to get root from SuperSU i get this notification "Security Information: An application attempted to access system on your device wothout authorization. This attempt has been blocked."
How can i fix this issue ?
[Edit] I managed to fix it by updating to latest version of SuperSU on the market.
Probably a KNOX issue
First time I started SuperSU after rooting (with CF-auto root), I got the question if I wanted to disable KNOX, because this won't let you get root access.
Indeed solved by updating and then selecting the knox fix.

How can I root my Xperia Z 4.3 without unlocking the bootloader? I found a root tool from Bin4ary, does it still work? Or if I downgrade the phone to 4.2.2, then I update to 4.3, the root will remain?

Do not post questions in the general section!
To your question: downgrade to 4.2.2, root with root tool from Bin4ary and update ota to 4.3
There is a good how-to here on xda. If you root 4.2 and then do an ota you will loose root!

downgrade 4.2.2
root
install CWM/TWRP [XZDualRecovery]
install any 4.3 Rom like: [ [STOCK][C6603][4.3] Update to 10.4.1.B.0.101 [Root & XZDR][LB/UB]] if you want the stock Rom
done
I tried to downgrade, but now my phone won't open. Is always rebooting. What can I do?

I understand that this isn't the section to ask questions, but I have one more since I'm a begginer when it comes to modifying my phone. I succesfully installed the [STOCK][C6603][4.3] Update to 10.4.1.B.0.101 [Root & XZDR][LB/UB]] ROM, but now Google Play, sync and google account authentification don't work over wifi, only over mobile data. Google Play always says "No connection", and I can't download anything. I tried to clear cache, delete updates, disable google play, google services, changing my hour, reset my wireless, factory reset the phone, but it still doesn't work. Youtube, Firefox, Chrome all work perfectly over Wifi. What can I do?
And also the Frozen Free Fall game doesn't work. Is always force closing.
Thank you for your help.

If you update ita you won't loose root, you only loose it when updating via pcc, flashtool etc

Hi guys,
I'm still on 4.3 (LB) on my Z, and have just rooted my phone a few days ago using the new towelroot method - which worked a treat. Since then I have done a couple of things; downloaded SuperSu, iFont so that I could use different fonts on my phone & also I tried uninstalling some system apps (I think I did anyway!) using ES file explorer.
Anyhow, I noticed after doing this, my internal memory keeps getting very low despite me removing apps (games etc)! In fact, the more I am removing, the more I believe it's actually eating up memory! I only have like 1.7gb left & keep getting the stupid 'transfer to SD card' message - which is dumb seeing as I've transferred everything I could.. WHAT IS EATING THE MEMORY UP!?
So can anyone direct me if I am uninstalling system apps correctly? I am doing it by clicking on Root Explorer via ES file Explorer, then 'uninstall system app', then ticking the ones to uninstall. Is that right?
And also, is it worth updating to kitkat considering how many bugs are found with it atm? If so, should I update via OTA or PCC? As far as I understand, OTA keeps root, and PCC doesn't? For some reason I fear that updating whilst having root & a couple of system apps being uninstalled, it could mess up my phone...
Sorry for all the questions! The low storage in particular is driving me insane..
Many thanks!

Use titanium backup to uninstall system apps.
Be careful about what system apps you are uninstalling

Thanks but I don't wish to install anymore apps especially when I have already got es file explorer. I just wanted to know if I am doing it correctly on that particular app.
I am pretty sure the apps I have tried unininstalling were safe to get rid of, they were stuff like playmemories.. Some live wallpapers I hated etc.
Any other opinions on my other questions anybody please? Safe to update OTA to kitkat after having deleted system apps?
You can check what is using the internal storage in Settings -> Storage.
Removing system apps with ES file explorer should work fine, although I haven't removed system apps like that for a long time. I usually freeze them with Ti Backup as they can be restored if needed that way.
You won't be able to update via OTA any more as you have removed system apps. OTA updates check if /system has been modified and fail if it has.

I've already checked the storage part and it's just apps taking up space but the more I've deleted the more I believe space is disappearing =P I've deleted a big game I don't play to free up a bit more though
Anyhow, I didn't quite understand the last part of your paragraph/ending sorry. Do u mean it won't allow me to update OTA or check if it works? I can still do through pcc right and it won't affect anything? I know it will remove root but I'll just install the apk again
again. Just wanted to know if updating will mess up my phone because of the uninstalling of system apps.
Thanks!
I mean you can only update officially via PC Companion now. It will not mess anything up because of root or removing system apps.
When you update via OTA, during the update a check is made to see if anything has been altered in the system partition. Because you removed system apps, that check will fail and the OTA update will not go ahead.

Thats really informative, thank you. Now I understand =)
I noticed you're from UK too, did you update to kitkat the official way without flash etc? How do you find it and any problems like others have been getting? Eg. Music stutters, lags.. All these are putting me off and only thing making me want kitkat is the supposedly new and improved keyboard with emojis! But I hear there's also lag there too!?
You're welcome. ?
Yes, I'm from the UK. I got fed up of waiting for the 4.2 update and instead of moaning about it for weeks on end like some on here, I flashed Spanish firmware on my phone. Since then, I've either updated OTA or with Flashtool. Still on Generic Spanish firmware as it generally receives updates fairly quickly.
The KitKat update was a bit laggy to start with, but after a few reboots I'm having no problems with it. I can't really comment on the Xperia keyboard, as I use SwiftKey that has emojis in KitKat as well(which is now free incidentally and everyone should try it out).

I Think the very first few couple of updates from Sony did drag out insanely long for the UK, but now I think they are bringing them out too quickly lol.
So in other words, you'd recommend updating and a few reboots should do the trick? The battery drain everyone kept talking about I actually experienced before even getting Kitkat too, so not just a kitkat problem.
I can't guarantee it, but my phone is functioning fine after a few weeks usage and a few reboots.
The battery drain is down to Google Play services and requires an update from Google to fix it. Who knows when Google will fix it.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
Yeah I managed to fix the drain by doing several things but never downgraded it. Maybe I should just wait for a new update instead of going onto kitkat and regretting it coz im not at all familiar with flashing files etc
I already removed knox with titanium but this message still pops up.

Hi Guys,
I have Oreo running on my VTR-L09 and successfully rooted with supersu.zip. Randomly root permissions are lost.
I use nova launcher at the moment with screen lock button, which works best with root. This is how I notice when root is lost.
Opening supersu tells me the same.
After a reboot all is fine again.
Sometimes it happens twice a day sometimes once in two days... Completely randomly...
Anyone any suggestions?
Any possibility to unroot?
Maybe root via magisk?
Thx a lot.
Benny

I'm on Oreo Beta.. stoc, bootloader locked.. and no random reboots... since 12.01.2018 when I received the beta OTA.
I have no random reboots, I just loose root randomly and after a initiated reboot, root works again.
