I've had my note 5 for a month now, it's been great but i've started to notice an issue that most of my notifications are delayed now on Wi-Fi ONLY but everything is fine on cellular data. This happens mainly when the phone has been sleeping for over 10/15 minutes. The issue is most noticeable with whatsapp/ gmail and facebook notifications. Doesn't seem to be a router problem since i've tried 3 different routers now. Has anyone else had this issue or know of any fixes?
Verizon WiFi Notifications
I'm having the same problem, I have not found a solution except to turn off WiFi. This seems to be a Lollipop thing. My previous phone was a Note edge and it worked fine until the Lollipop update and thats when the notification issue started. I have a Samsung Note tablet on Verizon with KitKat and it works fine. So now with the Note 5 having the same issue. Notifications come late, sometimes hours late.

I picked up the Note 4 last Thursday. This is my first phone with WiFi Calling and VoLTE and so far the experience has been less than ideal. I've found that I get more dropped calls and the person on the other end can often not hear me when we first connect (and I need to call them back) when using WiFi calling or VoLTE.
Is it common to have more frequent call issues with these two features enabled, or could there be an issue with the handset?
I called TMo support last night for similar issues. I would try to clear the cache and data from the phone app. That's what they suggested for me and it's been working much better for me!
Sent from my Note 4 using the XDA app. Damn this thing's sweet!
Trust me, clearing the cache and data has nothing to do with it. It's a network issue. I've been having similar issues sporadically with WiFi calling ever since they switch to a different format of WiFi calling a few years back. Also couple that with the upgrades they're doing, at times service may be affected.

Yeah I didn't think it would. However, when my calls drop, I get kicked immediately back to the home screen. There was not a FC error or even a call drop tone (which I've NEVER heard on T-Mobile after a call drops). When I had a Note 3 with Verizon, my dialer would say 'No Signal' and it would at least tell me that the call was dropped. I'm not getting that here. After 2 weeks, I can't say I'm particularly impressed with the QoS of T-Mobile as I have several dropped calls daily -- sometimes 4 or 5 per day. It's getting rather old, honestly. If it wasn't for the dev phones, I would have ended up back at Verizon. I just had to start somewhere with the cache and data clear....
Well that's not quite what's happening to me. My calls either drop just like a normal dropped call (sound and all) or stay connected and just have audio issues.
Anyway, I was playing around with it a bit more and it seems to only occur on HD calls. My wife and my dad both have Nexus 5's, and I see the issues frequently with them. But VoLTE calls to non-T-Mobile customers seem to be fine.
Anyone else note 4 take 5 to 10 seconds to connect the call? Happened with my note 3 as well.

Not up to 10, but usually 3-5 seconds. This was true of my Nexus 5 as well though. It tends to be longer when it is not a VoLTE call, I imagine because it needs to drop from LTE to HSPA to connect.
I have VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling turned off. Sometimes when I answer an incoming call quickly (actually that doesn't matter), I just get silence and I can't hear the caller and they can't hear me. I have to hang up and try again; Anyone else encounter this?
Update: I think I narrowed it down. Apparently the first call I receive after rebooting my phone always fails (unless I've made an outgoing call first). Subsequent calls work fine until my phone is powered down or rebooted, then the 1st incoming call fails again. I can reproduce this 100% of the time.
I've had this happen a couple times, funny thing is I've had it happen on my S4 and S5 as well.. Im starting to think its Tmo's network.
It might be a glitch with T-Mobile's network, but I haven't encountered it on previous devices. For example, I just switched from the Nexus 5 and never had a problem with voice calls.
I've had this happen a few times also with my S6. Never happened before, and I've been with T-Mobile for over 2 years.
This only happens for me occasionally if one of the callers is on Wifi calling, but it's happened with every phone (not just the S6) so it's definitely a network issue
I found this related to the S4, http://thedroidguy.com/2013/06/gala...ting-incoming-calls-66029#jMqaFVvIYCDRQHse.97. I've disabled the mute function in motions and gestures. We'll see if that works.

Been with Tmo for 5 years now and I have had this happen on previous devices.. could be the area I am... lol, I also notice a delay when making a call out which I believe is the network
Never had this problem on S4, but since getting the S6 this problem has been bugging me. Very frustrating.
Ok everyone figured I'd come here to where the experts live. Haven't been here in awhile.
Recently my S8, wifes S8, and our sons S8+ all have the same issues.
The first issue is texts get stuck "sending". This happens with WiFi on or off, with wifi calling on or off, and I even tried changing off LTE to just 4G/3G/2G and even 2g in settings to see if that would help. I'm on the latest firmware from TMO ending in QEF, well we all are.
The other one is apps like FB and others aren't alerting but they will show the number of alerts even after they've been checked. I've reinstalled these apps and the problem persists, and then I can reboot my phone or wifes phone and all the alerts start working again for awhile and then die eventually.
The texting issue though persists and is random when it will hang and when it doesn't.
According to TMO rep at the store it's a bug in the firmware with bixpy that was pushed out, but I frankly don't buy it and figured I'd hit the guru's up here and see if you guys have any thoughts.
Thanks in advance guys and gals....
I too have had the random "texts get stuck sending" issue. I haven't had it in a while though (now that I've said that I'm sure I will).
I unfortunately don't have any suggestions.
I ended up using googles version of messages due to this. Only on stock text app do i have any problems anymore. I also noticed on the stock app that my phone would say "sending" when the other side would actually get it, but it was at random.
You don't have a cellspot repeater or router do you? Last time I had it, my device was hung and needed reboots. Just a thought.
Thanks for the feedback, yes I have a cell spot, but I also have the issue other areas of town too with no real specific place thatbit always happens.
I'm going to reverse back from the qef firmware and see if that resolves things. This has been so annoying, and it just started about two weeks ago.
Thanks again everyone.
I have had the same issue with sending texts too. I have been using the stock messenger app. I may just switch to textra.
Same issue here. A temporary fix, try turning on airplane mode and off. Works for me a times
Also happening to me on the XAA firmware (have unlocked NA variant) with the stock messaging and Google messages.
So I'll ask the question begging to be asked (at least by me): How does one disable this messaging app and use "stock messaging" app?
Thanks in advance....

Just get a app disabler for Samsung from play store like BK Disabler.
If I were you, just download Android Messages. It's simple and fast.
However, I do not recommend disabling stock messaging, unless you don't like getting EAS (Amber/Weather/Presidential Alert)
Having the exact same issues and it's driving me crazy because I really like this phone. I don't get notifications for any of my apps but when I open them I can see the new messages. A reset seems to fix the problem but it only lasts about an hour before it starts doing the same thing. I've tried using different messaging apps but the same thing. And the fact that I don't get notifications for other apps it can't just be a text messaging issue right?
Happened to me for almost 2 months but haven't had an issue in about a week. Called t mobile, they created a ticket and said they'll be working on it. Few days after speaking to them, problem went away.
This has been happening intermitantly for me as well. It's been bad the past three days. I'm currently in coversations with T-mo's engineering team and they seem to be coming up with a bunch of dead ends. It's not a location based thing as it's been happening over a 20 mile radius in the past few days for me. Other people on T-mo network that I'm freinds with or I work with aren't having any problems. I'm wondering if just a fresh SIM card could solve it?
I have data connection although it seems a little sluggish compared to when I originally got the phone. Similar to OP I've tried all the "G's" modes, with wifi calling on, with it off, with cellular network preffered with wifi calling on and off. With Textra, with stock messaging app. I've factory reset to no avail. I've pulled and re-inserted the SIM card to no avail. This is incredibly frustrating for a flagship phone on a network where I've had no previous issues.
UPDATE: T-Mobile sent me a new SIM card and that seems to have cleared up the issues. Not sure if it just hapened to coincide with T-Mo tower fixes or anything else like that in my area but I'm back to normal operation. Anybody else experiencing this I recommend you push customer service to send you a new sim.
my husband and i are having a strange issue where we can message pictures and video clips to other people that don't have the s8, or aren't on tmobile and they'll send and receive just fine, but when we try to send to each other, the first attempt to send fails, but the second attempt goes through?

i had same problem one of you is not using stock message app, if you check it ull find pictures all there i think its new messages plus thing
I am having a strange issue that I can not find the reason for.
I am on a NON-ROOTED, Not Unlock Note 9 with Tmobile. Current running Pie Beta DRL7.
Using Samsung Messages 10.0.10.5 I am not able to send MMS to other (Newer) Galaxy Devices. Sends fine to J7 and iPhones but not to S8 and up so far. If I use Android Messages it goes through so it is not a Data/Wifi problem. I have tried it with Data only, Wifi On, Wifi On w/Wifi Calling. It tries to send it twice and holds each time at the last few 0.# MB. Even toggled RTT on and off as well as Wifi Calling Cellular/Wifi Preference. Just at a loss.
Since I am not rooted and on the Beta, I can not simply uninstall the 10 version or upgrade/downgrade. Is there something I am missing maybe or are others having a similar issue.
I have a Pixel 4xl on Spectrum. Since my phone updated to Android 12 I have been unable to make phone calls on cellular and data randomly drops, you can watch it flash off and on several time, randomly. I get a Verizon error message. I can make calls on wifi only. After security and bug fix it worked for a short time then back to not working. My wife has the same phone and hers worked but dropped calls randomly anywhere between 1-10 minutes. Hers works a little better now but still has issues sometimes. After all this I rooted mine so I won't keep loosing data while working on it. In rooting I had to reinstall the factory ROM. I can now make calls on cellular but now drops calls between 1-10 minutes. Has anyone else seen this? Should I just go back to 11, if so which factory image do I use and how do I install it. I am rooted but not custom recovery installed.

I seem to have faxed it. Contacted Spectrum for the second time and they had me reset the network settings and it seems to have fixed it. Settings->System->Reset options->Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth
