A humble request to a rooted user (Mi4) - Mi 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I need your help as my sensors are not working on Mi4 all sensors but i found a way to fix them.
so basically i want you to backup your all your partition excluding USERDATA, System, System1, all modems i don't need these. I need rest of the partitions left
You can backup your partition easily via this app i have attached apk below or Playstore

Why do you need these partitions?
You could also flash a fastboot ROM for mi4 using mi flash or mi pc suite.

Mi3 is bricked

Hi Guys,
My Mi3 is bricked.I did a repartition some months back and I wanted to install MIUI 7.I used Miflash but it is showing size too large error while flashing. My recovery is replaced with stock recovery.I tried to use ADB to push the file, that is also not working as it is shoing device not found while I am in recovery.I installed Miphonemanager as well for that. But there is no luck.I am out of ideas. Can anyone please help me.
Can anyone let me know which driver I need to choose in driver manager for android in desktop? Currently I tried CMCC Composite ADB driver and Xiaomi Android Interface.
Flash latest TWRP first. What happened during repartition?
You can allways acces the eeprom writer through short circuiting the sim card, there are a lot of tutorials, the only way to brick this phone is breaking its hardware

Install custom recovery through fast boot mode... Then flash the repartition revert zip .. There is one revert zip in miui forum which ends like this "....EIPerroVerde". Only this revert zip works..Then use miflash .. It should work..

Hey Knight (didn't want to call you Dork  )
I have a messed up phone,
2 questions here :
1- Would repartitioning reset ALL the partitions ?
2- When installing a ROM with fastboot, will ALL the partitions be filled with the necessary data ?
(I'm in doubt because of IMEI data)
Btw, can anyone point me to a link with WORKING fastboot ROM downloads ?

Repartitioning will wipe both your system partitions [EDIT: Seems I was wrong?]. If you want to use MIUI 7, you can use either extended partition, or stock partition using the zip from my link.
For fastboot I guess you'll need stock.
No, installing a MIUI fastboot ROM shouldn't touch your IMEI. But yeah everything else can be overwritten, depending on which bat file you use when flashing.
The process I'd recommend right now is to flash TWRP IMG using fastboot(use the 15-second ADB installer and look up a tutorial on how to flash an IMG. Basically just put the IMG into the adb/fastboot installation directory and then open a terminal window and then fastboot flash)
And as for MIUI fastboot ROM, you just gotta find the thread on MIUI forums. Google can help

Thanks ... but ....
I was under the impression that there were many more partitions (about 28).
Check this site:

Basically, I'm looking for an easy way out to make a REAL factory reset from PC.

Well there ARE a LOT of partitions on any device, but the important ones are system, boot, data, cache, modem etc.
That guide seems to manually mess with the partition table, so it gets down and dirty.
The easiest thing would be to do what I said, flash TWRP or CWM r7 by furniel and then the proper stock partition zip. Then use MiFlash or recovery to flash any ROM.
I think I'm back online

OK,
I followed your links and flashed :
First : Repartition to Stock Layout
Then : Repartition to 1.2GB Single System
Strange, after this, I did a normal reboot, it rebooted into my old ROM.
Shouldn't that have been erased after partitioning ?
Anyway,
Then I flashed ; update-XenonHD-08-08-15-signed-.zip
WAIT WAIT .....
as I'm typing, I'm flashing update-XenonHD-09-05-15-signed-cancro.zip,
first ROM in a few weeks that seems to be installing.
Let me check is it really installed .... YEP .... progress
Flashing : pa_gapps-modular-pico-5.1-20150418-signed
Everything seems to be going smooth
OK, for the time being .... all good.
Thanks a lot :good:
If your device cannot boot, flash it thru fastboot mode. See the full detailed tutorial on en.miui.com
Well you can directly flash with miflash even with the extended partition. Just edit the fastboot script (.bat extension with windows) and search for line
fastboot flash system+system1
And then delete system1
Fastboot flash system
And use those script for flashing via miflash

Mi 3 Partitions Removed.

Now my phone is in fastboot and I donot have system, recovery partitions. I can't go to recovery or use adb. Please help me how can i reset my partitions now or boot my device :crying:

The miui link dat i gave u download the cancro merge partition zip ok extract it and ull find a folder named images. Luk into dis folder ull know about all the images dat r required to be flashed before flashing any kernel or rom ok.
A simple fastboot flash all is enough and ull have ur mi3 ready once again to flash ny custom rom and gapps.
In d same link the developer has created a special recovery compatible wid merged partition which will help u to flash ny rom dat u want.
All d best

[Q] Bootloader Locking/Unlocking, Stock ROM Backup with minimum changes

Hello people. Recently i got my first qualcomm device redmi-4x (v8.2.12.0) global (previously i used/worked-for mtk devices), and from past few days i have been reading/learning about this qualcomm device.
I have checked almost all redmi-4x forums (miui, xda, 4pda etc) and still have some questions in my mind.
Q1:
I want to backup my redmi-4x before unlocking/rooting/FlashingTWRP. I know in mtk devices, even if the device is unrooted/untouched we can easily backup firmware/complete-emmc (each and every partition) by readback methods using SP-FlashTool/Miracle-Box etc...
i read somewhere, we can do same thing, i.e readback qualcomm device's emmc in edl-mode but unfortunately, xiaomi has disabled fastboot edl mode in new devices and the only way left to open edl mode is test point method which requires disassembly. though i can but i don't want to disassemble it (warranty will be void). Another solution i saw was Deep Flash Cable, which isn't working either, personally tested... Now, having no other option, i decided to unlock it to make stock rom backup using TWRP. Actually i wanted to make backup with minimum changes to original firmware, so if anyone here knows any other solution to make backup without unlocking bootloader, (or unlocked_bootloader + no_other_changes, i.e without TWRP) please share... Thanks!
Q2:
From what i have learned so far, i think MiUI bootloader unlock tool doesn't work with non-miui firmwares, right? so the question is, if we manually relock our redmi 4x using fasboot when there is some non-miui rom installed in the device. what can be the possible solution to unlock it again? (except reflashing miui by test point method and then unlocking bootloader). Thanks!

Hi, I do it this way:
- unlocked bootloader
- copy http://www.mediafire.com/file/pj0qh1ccj4h2a2a/p0.zip to FAT32 flash drive
- fastboot boot twrp.img (TWRP is not flashed, boots from RAM, not eMMC, so no_other_changes)
- attach the flash drive to R4X on OTG adapter
- in TWRP "install" p0.zip
- entire eMMC will be compressed and saved on the flash drive
My new R4X 32GB was compressed down to 2GB within around half an hour. Later I mounted the disk image on a PC and erased OS/data partitions: system, cache, userdata, cust, recovery, boot, and now the entire 32GB with bootloader, support and firmware is 80MB compressed.
Have you tried QPST backup in EDL mode?

I made the guide and script for Nexus 7'13 but it works well on R4X too. There is no known method of QPST backup on the Nexus but Xiaomi always had more options thanks to freely available "firehose" files. Thank you for the emmcdl link, it is a very simple and convenient tool.
We could use emmcdl for unlocking. I found some pre-patched "persist" partitions here http://blog.regenerationmm.com/2017/03/emmc-dl-အသုံးျပဳျပီး-mi-account-bypass-ျပဳလုပ္/

Goto advanced twrp file manager and move ROM to internal storage?

After all this was easier to solve than apparently it seemed. Just installed a new version of TWRP (3.3.1-34), the previous one although it indicated that it was nominated for the MI9, was not the best choice. After installing a new one, I uploaded the ROM(MIUI 10.5 by xiaomi.eu 9.6.20) to the root of the phone and installed it. It's all working again.

TWRP not decrypting my data

I used fastboot to flash twrp-3.5.0_9-0-raphael.img. I used TWRP make a full backup to internal memory. Then I flashed xiaomi.eu_multi_HMK20ProMI9TPro_21.2.24_v12-11.zip which didn't work. So back to fastboot->TWRP to restore backup.
But it doesn't ask for my pattern anymore! All my files remain encrypted. Command line adb shell twrp decrypt fails too.
Is there a special TWRP version that can help me out? Or is it game over?
