I have rooted my kindle fire 2 and installed the gplay store (3.10.9). Everything worked but i get realy low res icons on all Apps i install (angry birds,...). Is there a way to fix that?
I have a 2012 kindle fire hd 8.9.
Recently I just removed the built-in nav bar and used the LMT launcher instead.
Since kindle has a "favorites" window that cannot be launched through LMT's built-in actions,
I was wondering if it is possible to invoke some activity or script to show the favorites window up?
Thanks for answering in advance!
Best,
chhsiao
Running 5.4.0.1 Fire 7 7th Gen.
I can run either the default Amazon launcher and any of the pre-installed
software, (Kindle, Audible, Movies etc) or I can run Apex launcher with
Play Store and widgets and it looks mostly like a normal Android tablet.
Alexa does activate on home long press. Normal press does show the
home screen of the launcher set in Launcher Hijack 3.
Kindle app will not open when Apex is set as launcher
I am wondering if 5.4.0.1 doesn't like either 3rd party
launchers in general or Apex in particular or if I am
doing something wrong?
I noticed that many scripts are using Nova, is that
launcher known to work with 5.4.0.1 on 7th Gen?
Will Kindle app open correctly with it set as
launcher?

Preinstalled Kindle app (not the one available in the Play Store) is known to have some dependencies on the stock launcher. May explain the behaviors observed when Apex is primary.
Home button long press behavior is expected with custom launcher. Don't believe there is a workaround w/o root.
Apex and Nova are fine launchers; I prefer the latter but it's a personal call.
Widget support is variable by launcher. Last I knew Nova required root for widgets (on FireOS only) but that may have changed.

Widgets works fine in Apex by following this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/general/root-required-widgets-preferred-launcher-t3637814.
Does the reference to preinstalled Kindle app vs Play Store Kindle app mean I can use the Play Store app with Apex?
If so, how do I get it installed? Would it overwrite the 'updated' preinstalled Kindle app in /data/app?

Assume you mean Nova as widget support with Apex has been established.

To the best of my knowledge the preinstalled Kindle app must be used. As I recall the Play Store app doesn't install/function correctly under FireOS.
I have a kindle fire 7 and downloaded hijack launcher and nova. The only problem I'm having is at the top of nova launcher settings it says, *Not set as defualt* at the very top.
I went into kindle settings down to accessibilities and
To detect home button press is*on*, nova launcher is *on*. What am I missing? I can't find another spot to make it default.
Otherwise it works fantastic. Thanks to whoever developed these programs.
I hope I posted in the correct area. Its confusing on my phone.
So, my Kindle Fire HD 7 is not rooted, but I've sideloaded Google Playstore and used the Launcher Hijack program to have Apex Launcher as the default launcher. But now I can't put widgets on the desktop. Everytime I try, it sends me to the tablet's settings screen. What setting needs to be changed to use widgets?
