[Q] Ubuntu for Asus padfone

Hello,
I'm looking for a new phone now, and I really want ubuntu OS on it. Either as ubuntu for android or ubuntu mobile OS.
At the moment the Asus padfone seems to me like the perfect device for Ubuntu, but it doesn't seem like anyone agrees. There is no mention of it anywhere that I can see and I can't even find the device on xda. I have contacted Asus and suggested that they work on it, but of course they cannot reveal anything to me.
Does anyone know if there are people working on it? Is it likely that the padfone infinity can run ubuntu alongside it?
Just a question about ubuntu for android: If I run the desktop OS, I will be able to run games on steam? And other games like Heroes of newerth that have a linux version. How well will these games run? I mean: How far behind are ARM than x86?
Thank you

I was really hoping somebody would bring this up... I did some research on the Padfone before and getting Ubuntu on it works like this: if you can get CM10 working on the Padfone then it can be done. The problem is I haven't seen anybody willing to port CM10 to the Padfone, but it can be rooted.

Is this only valid for Padfone "1"? Or is this the case for both of them?
Im thinking about getting the padfone infinity (nr 3). Obviously no one can answer about infinity since it hasnt been released yet, but I was hoping to see if anyone cared about the product line at all

Hi,
are you people still thinking about this because I'm really interested.
I have the PadFone 1 with phone/tab/keyboard/stylus and think the ASUS done rubbish on the latest version of the firmware.
I'd really like to go with Ubuntu but need to be sure about it as this is my only phone and don't want to brick it.
Maybe you guys should also look at www.padfoneclub.com. They have a forum and people really interested by the device.

[Q] ASUS MeMO Pad 7(ME70CX) CM or any other custom ROM?

First of all i am a bit confused tablet's name is ASUS MeMO Pad 7 and there is couple different models with different specs... I couldn't find any custom ROM for this model. Is there any custom ROM for this model? I can see this tablet is not so popular but still maybe it's just me being blind, so if some could provide link for CM that would be great.

Huge help needed asus memo pad 7 firmware 5. lollipop root problems

Hi guys
I'm desperate for some help here as I have an Asus memo pad 7 which I have in the past had rooted. After being unaware of what upgrading to next firmware does to your root permissions I went ahead and got android 5 lollipop. NOW.....I know this is a topic that has been pressed on quite a bit, but my problem or my pad just seems to be the stubborn one. I have no access to a computer so I don't know if that will stop me.
Common problems I get are
On all rooting apps it gets to 90 percent completion and then stops giving me an error code.
Or tells me there is no possible strategy.
That's pretty much it guys so yeh please help as I love a rooted pad : /
