Doubt regarding factory reset - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, everyone! I'm getting a real bad Idle battery drain on my note 5. I want to do a factory reset and see if that solves it. I wanted to know if the factory reset will also format my music, pictures and such other data.

Anyone?

Yes, it will. Back everything up before you factory reset.

Random Factory Resets? But apps still 'look' installed?

So I've had some weird stuff happening the last couple days, which is to be expected since i've been experimenting with JPH, OCLF 2, and Rooting.
Now, last night I decided to flash back to JG8, re-partitioned, then factory reset. Then I flashed JPH and factory reset. Now after I got all my apps setup again, I thought I was good, but decided to reboot once more. Upon reboot, everything looked like a normal boot, but i was greeted by a phone in a semi factory reset state. By that I mean, everything looked factory, but if I went into manage applications I could see the com.blah.packagnames of some of my apk's i had installed, but none had icons, and they all showed 0 size.
The only possible reason I can think of for this to happen is that I rebooted while my phone was plugged into my pc, and while odin was open (although it was not doing anything at the time).
I'm kind of afraid now of having my phone randomly go back to basically, factory defaults on its own. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a good explanation? If I can reproduce it, I'm happy to avoid it, it's the lack of predictability right now that worries me.
Thanks

[Q] Every reboot factory reset

I am thinking of buying my neighbor's phone but I do not know if it is fixable. They have a TMobile HD7 and everytime the phone is turned on(as in battery removed or died or shutoff) it does a factory reset before loading up and everything is lost.

Severe battery drain issues, Droid Turbo

Well I was hoping someone had some ideas with my battery issues. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is without root, but here is what I can provide. Any help would be awesome!
That surely is bad battery life there. Try an FDR (factory data reset) and that should fix your problem most likely or disable as much bloat ware including Motorola stuff and see if that helps. Most likely though you will need a factory data reset
......or try wiping cache in recovery, that worked for me
I'll give the cache wipe a shot and report back. As for disabling bloat, I went through and gave it a real good scrub over the weekend and I'm still seeing these terrible numbers. I'm hoping to hold off on the factory reset until lollipop comes out, since it's recommend you factory reset when going to lollipop, but who knows when that will be.

Can overheat cause a factory reset?

Hi all,
After a not so smooth transition to Oppo, yesterday I almost collapsed when I looked at my phone and saw the config assistant starting.
I've left the phone unattended during around 2 hours and for some reason a factory reset was performed. I know that to perform a factory reset you need to input the password, so it's out of question that was done by one of the kids (they are 4 and 7). So, the real question is:
1) Did anyone experienced this before?
2) Could overheat cause a factory reset?
I know that all my data was lost but most was recovered. Unfortunately, all the files in the hard drive are vanished forever...

Click to collapse
Did you recover a backup or clone from old to new phone?
If this process does not complete successfully, you can end up back at the start of the wizard.
Once a restore or copy from old phone has completed "successfully" I cannot see any way the phone would auto factory reset.
No, I've managed to recover some of the data but for some reason I couldn't recover it all - the files in the local drive were lost forever...
The weird thing is why or how did the auto factory reset happened.
