Moto G 2014 becomes slow when connected to bluetooth headset - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am using LuK1337's AOSP ROM (5.1.1) on my Moto G 2014. Whenever I connect my bluetooth headset with my phone my phone's performance goes down...it takes long time to open apps and becomes laggy.
My friend used the same bluetooth headset on Redmi Note 2 and it was smooth, he can even play games smoothly while connected to bluetooth headset.
I am not sure what is casing this and what is the solution.
Please advise..thx

[Q] Moto X 4.4 BT Issues In Car?

I have an Alpine UTE-42BT stereo in my car and noticed lately when listening to music on my Moto X it seems to skip or "stop" randomly. I found out that restarting the device seems to "fix" it for a short period of time. When using my S III (Media Player) all is well. I have already tried using the X with BT speakers and the issue does not seem to occur here. Wondering if anyone is having any similar issues using the X in car with a BT stereo. I would love to listen to Pandora or Google Play Music on the way to work and can't do it with my S III since it's no longer in service and I only have local music on the device.
EDIT: I will also note that my X is rooted running the stock 4.4 VZW ROM. the only sound mod so to speak is the "extra volume steps" and I have tried disabling that to no avail.
Same issue... Unrooted. Also get no meta data, and the audio profile takes longer to load

[Q] Bluetooth Issues

Been having bluetooth audio stuttering issues with the Moto X when playing music/podcasts. Only seems to happen in my car with the Chevy MyLink system (Blackberry QNX-based). Works fine with a regular set of bluetooth headphones.
I've tried:
Disabling Wifi
Rebooting Directly Before Connecting to Bluetooth
Re-pairing the device
Turning off NFC
Un-pairing all other bluetooth devices
Turning on the developer option to leave the screen on when plugged in, to force the phone to not sleep
Moving the phone to different places in the car (assuming it was a reception issue)
Disabling the phone profile in bluetooth, leaving only the media profile
Different music players
Playing music from local storage rather than streaming it
None of it seems to help. The only real difference I can see is that the car bluetooth stereo supports AVRCP 1.3 (Track information, song/album title) and the other bluetooth streaming devices I've tested don't.
Does the Moto X just have a buggy bluetooth stack? (this worked fine on my old Note 3) Anyone else have this issue (and possible have a fix)?
I just started using my phone in my car to stream music today, using a CoolStream Bluetooth adapter and noticed the same thing. I have two CoolStream devices, so I was going to do some testing before posting anything (I used the other in my office today without issue). I just received a replacement Moto X (for another reason) today, so I will try it out tomorrow.

Funnily even I have Bluetooth issues.. I own a pair of bluebuds x and after pairing the device the audio was still playing through phone. I have to disconnect Bluetooth and restart bluebuds x and immediately start playing music after connection is established. if I wait for 2 mins again same problem.
From the motorola forums, there is a suspicion that this is related to the charger that is being used. Can you confirm if this happens if you are using bluetooth music on battery?

This happens even when the phone is on battery.
That being said, it does seem worse when I'm using my Belkin 2.1 amp car charger.
Hmm, definitely starting to sound like a bluetooth software problem, hoping this gets some visibility @ Moto.
Works well for me
No issues at all for me in my 2014 Hyundai Tucson.
Huge problems mine connects then disconnects every 30 seconds have called Motorola 3 times going to call again ask for exchange or refund.

I was having the stuttering problem when using Bluetooth in my car (Subaru Imprezza). I use the PowerAMP audio player. Going into headset/bluetooth settings (in PowerAMP) and enabling the "High Priority" setting fixed this.
On my BT headset, it's always been fine. (i use the Motorola S11-HD)
I got in touch with Motorola support. They are replacing the phone. We'll see if the new one does the same thing.

I am on my second phone, it is better than the first, but the problem still exists.
This sounds like a major problem - I have a Sony Smartwatch 3 and it keeps dropping. I haven't tried anything else yet but this is already not looking good. Anyone with any answers running Lollipop?
same if not worse
I went from a moto x 2013 to a 2014 and uograded to lolipop. The stuttering is still on lolipop and i have othwr issues as well. When I try to play a vox it doesnt pause audio and is silent. It also fails to auto connect about 50% of the time. And wven when it does the audio is muted and i have to disconnect and re connect. Using an Alpine ute-42BT
I've been using my Moto X 2014 with a 2011 BMW and I have no issues with stuttering. The version of the car's Bluetooth stack supports AVRCP 1.4. I had some quirks with it and my previous LG G3 (time display was off, and previous/next controls from car didn't work properly). With the Moto X, everything works well and all information is displayed properly.
Does anyone know what version of AVRCP the Moto X has when running Lollipop? It seems like stock Lollipop is still stuck on 1.3 (I can't get a clear answer), but with the time being reported properly, I suspect 1.4 is being used on my Moto X.
I also have issues w Bluetooth. Stutters randomly w my Subaru Impreza, as well as my 2 UE Boom Speakers. Using Google Play Music All Access.
In addition, the Jawbone UP24 wouldn't sync w my phone. Had to restart the phone to push a sync through.
My phone was working fine until today. I was able to pause, play, and skip with my bluetooth receiver, but the audio was still coming out of my phone. This is terribly frustrating. I can't believe such a large issue has been going on for months with no announcement from Motorola.
My pure edition on lollipop stutters when the active display goes off on Bluetooth. Only send to happen then
I've notice using Bluetooth headphones none have the range they are suppose to. I've used Power beats 2 wireless, JBL Synchro's wireless, and Moto Hint. The range and Bluetooth auto seem to lack badly. Using a Bluetooth to aux adapter in my work van I've noticed it skipping as well. Hope this gets fixed its apparent that its a issue with the Moto X Bluetooth.
my bluetooth audio has become worthless. so much stuttering, calls sound like they are under water, moto assist voice in the car is so quiet
i can't stand it.

Nokia MD-310 Bluetooth Receiver issue

Hi!
I'm loving my new Z3 Compact but ran into first annoying issue. I've been using Nokia Wireless Receiver to stream audio via bluetooth to my amplifier. It has worked well with my previous phones, iPad Air and also my wife's Galaxy S4 Black Edition that has KitKat installed.
With Z3 it connects and phone shows aptX device connected. Audio starts playing but cuts off and back constantly, almost like it loses connection every half a second or so. Tested Spotify and Radio FM to make sure it's not an app issue, same thing happens with both. I also got JBL Flip 2 speaker and bluetooth audio is crystal clear with that, no issues at all.
I'm a bit baffled because it doesn't seem to be an Android issue (Galaxy S4 working well), not an app issue and also bluetooth audio from Z3 works with other devices. Any ideas/help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi. it seems like you and me are having the same problem except I have a z2. Previously I had a Xperia sp and that works fine with the Nokia receiver which leads me to believe it has something to do with aptX as my z2 works OK with other non aptX devices aswell.
Did you ever find a solution to your problem? I found that if you turn WiFi off it helps a little, but is still un-listanable to my ears

T-MOBILE LG G6 Bluetooth issues

Hello I am on the latest e update from T-Mobile and have noticed in my cars Bluetooth when I stream music it seems to have popping noises that seems to be like it's having a hard time keeping up with the stream. I also noticed with audio from videos played through my car has an aweful sync delay. I have a 2017 Ford with Sync3. I have no issues with my older Nexus 6p or GS 7.
Has anyone else experienced this? Wondering if I have a defective unit.

I have the same problem with the new update connecting to my 2017 Ford Escape. I found a work around, though. If I disconnect and then reconnect to the car's Bluetooth, the skipping goes away. No idea why this would happen, but hopefully the next update fixes it. I don't want to do this every time I get in my car!
Edit: Also, I'm 90% sure I didn't have this problem before the update.
I hope so too. I have factory reset and turned battery optimization off all Bluetooth apps too. Also I had all the new play store updates. And when I factory reset I lost them all. Seems like the updates tab and filter options were on then gone after reset. ?

Same here. I checked on my wife's G6 and it had the same sync issue. Hope the next update fixes this. According to T-Mobile the next update should drop on the 7th.

No update yet.
Which version of Bluetooth are your devices/car bluetooth connections utilizing? Just curious.
My stereo headphones use 4.0 (Jabra Move), but I haven't noticed any issue yet with high CPU usage, battery drain, quality issues, etc. I've had it on when out in case a call comes in.

Also no update today
Bluetooth Issues
Hi, I have been having bluetooth issues with this phone since day one. It does not happen with all bluetooth devices but it definitely happens with my Pioneer Head unit in the car. Sometimes it also depends on the application used. The strange this is that it does not happen all the time, but when it does it happens frequently. I also noticed that the headunit will get stuck in voice command mode after using voice command, also the phone will answer calls by itself even though this feature is turned off in the settings. The message is "Bluetooth device has stopped working". This obviously did not happen with my G4. I have cleared Cache and all bluetooth devices, and have also cleared them on th Head Unit. I do have another Pioneer head unit in another vehicle, different model and it does the same thing. I have seen many people reporting issues with car units in other vehicles.
Hoping for a quick update, I know weird things are bound to happen with new phones. I really like the phone, this is the only real anoying issue.
I think the issue is more so bluetooth than anything else. Bluetooth never was, and likely never will be, a truly reliable data transfer protocol.

I think the issue has to do with device incompatibilities. Every phone I have had, I see reports of BT problems that I just don't experience. Hooks up to the car in a flash. Works with both my bt headphones and soundbar for my tv.
My car is a nissan maxima.
I have had g2, g3, g4, nexus 6p , g5 and now g6. The nexus was the worst for my devices. It worked, but getting connected took longer.
Possibly The Music App Being Used
I don't have a ford like allot of you guys replying in the thread, however I have noticed that specifically "Google Play Music" will have an issue on any bluetooth device; where if you have a widget of the player on the phone, and you have listened to music using the app BEFORE you connected to the vehicle, when trying to play from where you were in the song, it will pop and skip around. The only way to fix this easily is to pause the song, clear the app out of recents and re open the app and play. Hope this helps some of you.
I have also noticed this with my G6. I have a 2014 Chevy Malibu and use Google Play Music, streaming through T-Mobile. I have no issues streaming music to the same car with GPM through my Samsung GS7. I noticed someone mention disconnecting then reconnecting bluetooth, so I will give that a shot. Still frustrating, and I am hoping that LG will be able to come up with a software fix.
My G6 Bluetooth crashes every time its connected to my car "Bluetooth crash". It doesn't matter which app I use, it disconnects every 5 seconds. The rest of my phones connect without a problem to my Honda Accord. Even my fiance's G6 connects without an issue. I believe I got a bad unit, will return for another one and see what happens.
There were a ton of Bluetooth issues in 7.0. I had them on my Pixel XL. It really sucks that LG didn't ship the G6 with 7.1. Hopefully they implement the Bluetooth patches in 7.1. I can't get my Dodge truck to display Google Play Music metadata with my G6. My Pixel XL displays the metadata just fine. The G6 does display Google Play Music metadata in my Ford Explorer though.
I'm getting noticeable static when using Pandora via Bluetooth with my 2016 Subaru, but it's an improvement over my OnePlus 3T that wouldn't even allow media playback via Bluetooth with my car.

Hi Yes I am having a similar issue with my lg g6. I am also on tmobile. The sound randomly about 1-2 times during the song just starts to sound terrible (like FM quality). It does have a bit of a static/popping nosie, this happens for a few seconds for me and then goes back to sounding normal.

Thanks for the answer, unfortunately it didn't work.
I tried wiping my phone clean but it seems that after the LG Android Updates it starting acting worse. GPM does not help either.
I've tried everything, reset network, clearing all Bluetooth data, safe mode, even restarted my car's audio system. Brand new LG G6, not a day old and it doesn't connect to car, only call audio connects but not the media. Works fine with portable speakers but keeps disconnecting every ten seconds in car.

Recommended smartphone hardware requirements to run Android Auto smoothly

Hey all! I have a Motorola Moto G 2014 Rooted + Xposed Framework and I find it hard to use Google Maps and stream music through Spotify, when I connect the phone with my Opel Corsa. When I use Google Maps, 3/10 times there is a lot of delay between the screens I need to go through in order to select a route to reach a destination. The real problem is when I want to listen to music through Spotify AND use Google Maps navigation. There is a lot of lag, maps constantly crash and music has a lot of distortion, like a bad mp3 file. The phone itself heats up like hell.
I feel that, unfortunately I have to move to a newer phone, since Snapdragon 400 and 1 GB RAM can't handle navigation and music streaming through Spotify. Since I want to keep using a dual sim phone and beside the aforementioned problem, I am absolutely satisfied with Moto G 2014, I think that my best option (Value for Money AND Domestic Market Options - Greece) is Moto G5 (I don't like and don't want Huawei P8 Lite 2017 or P9 Lite or P10 Lite or even a Meizu). The only problem is if I need the Simple or the Plus (Moto G5 Plus) version of the phone. The main and interesting difference between these two is that the first one offers Snapdragon 430, whereas the second one comes with a Snapdragon 625.
So, currently I don't know which phone to choose, because I don't know the recommended hardware setup of the smartphone to have Android Auto running smoothly.
Thanks in advance everyone.

Hey man, I remember you from Moto G 2014 threads!!!! Have you used it with Android Auto???
@Jimisballjohn No, I have an opel Meriva but that doesn't have Bluetooth unfortunately....
And yeah, I went from my Moto G 2014 to a Moto G4 Plus. That one had awful ghost touches however. Now I'm on a Moto G5 Plus. That one is perfect for now. Very fast (certainly compared to the Moto G 2014). Running Resurrection Remix at the moment!

Greek? If yes, me to..
I have use to my opel corsa e, with intellilink 4.0 those phones: Note 4, lg g2, galaxy s5, nexus 5x. Marshmallow, and nougat custom rom to all.
The only one work super is nexus 5x. All others loose connection, connect one time, doesn't connect the other etc.
Probably the type c usb of nexus makes the difference?
I have also create a custom case to insert nexus 5x You just insert nexus to the case and everything is working automatically. (In the end of the case i have glued the type c microusb in which nexus is connected by inserted to the case) . It has a 4 usb hub, from which i use 2: 1 a usb stick with mp3, the other the usb cable of nexus, and the usb of the switch to car intellilink.
Everything work fine. I have Google maps, waze beta for android auto, Spotify etc. I also have created a y cable to take power from lighter usb charger. So i have navigation without discharging.
Just to give the idea. I will probably upload photo some time..
Sent from my SM-T700 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
So, i recently purchased a Lenovo Moto G5 Plus and connected it to my Opel Corsa E to check whether it is capable of running Spotify and Google Maps smoothly at the same time.
I have to say it is more than capable; music scrolling through steering wheel button is super responsive, maps load within 2-3 seconds and navigation never hangs, while music doesn't have any weird cuts etc.
So I would say that Snapdragon 625 + 3GB RAM should suffice for having multiple apps running through Android Auto (music and navigation). I also know that Snapdragon 400 + 1GB RAM was not enough for a smooth Android Auto experience. However, I am unaware whether a Lenovo Moto G5 with Snapdragon 430 + 2/3GB RAM would also be enough for a smooth Android Auto experience or not. Should someone try this setup (Snapdragon 430 + 2/3GB RAM), he/she must definitely share with us his experience.
