google play services kills my battery, any fix plz - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello everybody
i have a serious problem with battery draining, google play services eats too much of the battery so i can't really use it too much because of that
i'm now on kitkat 4.4.4 and the problem was even on 4.3
my google play service version is : 8.4.89
i did all that :
rooted the phone.
uninstalled completely google play services ( after doing that another service was still eating the same pourcentage 34% of the battery was called : google service ) so even with removing google play services the problem still the same .
i reinstalled google play service the latest version : 8.4.89 .
i rebooted.
i wiped all cache and dalvik cache.
and it still on : 34%
i also tried @venky716 method : http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/fix-google-play-services-idle-drain-t3176177
and still the same problem
first of all i tought the problem came from kitkat but i realised right now that google play services is the biggest problem because i tried too much version : 4.4.4 / 4.2.2 / 4.3 / even 5.1.1 and the battery of my XZ is still draining with no reason
please give me a permanent solution

Could be an app that is messing with the service.
There is no more drain in 5.1.1 from the service.

but there is a very big draining from the system on 5.1.1 and heating also, that's what i heard from people . i'm now on JB 4.2.2 no more service draining, battery ok, but i hate this version, it's too old for a smartphone like XZ

You can try L_Speed Mod. It has a fix for google services battery drain

Play Store 4.1.10 update - Battery drain? [solved]

Hi all,
maybe you read the news that Play Store 4.1.6, which was rolled out after Google I/O, should drain the battery on some devices, so in the last days Google updated to 4.1.10 silently.
Last night I got the update but since then my RAZRi drained faster than before. I rebooted, cleared cache and such things, but the problem remains.
Do anyone of you experience the same?

Hi.
I noticed increasing battery consumption and more wakelocks by playstore since new version of 4.x.x so I am using old version 3.10.14 modified (edit patched) by arman68 from his System apps v1 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2223482
Google playstore even the new version supports only apps in our region so I'm satisfied with old version.
But Play Store does auto update itself, why not in your system?
Edit: is patched, ok
Edit 2: Google Play is not the problem... Seems that Google Play Services is the battery hog.
Just a small update FYI: Not the Play Store Services were the problem...
Unfortunately there were two conditions which came together. I modded a few things at my SystemUI.apk and got FC's after reboot and so on, solved it and left the phone alone. Just at this time (god knows why), Play Store updated itself, so I thought it was the cause for wakelocks - but it wasn't.
I rolled back to a CWM backup few days old, let Play Store update and discovered, that no battery drain appears.
The same curiosity was weeks ago, when I searched for the cause of wakelocking my RAZRi. After days I decided to factory reset and start anew. Seems, that if you'll play too much with your system and anything goes wrong (FC's especially with playing around with SystemUI.apk), some things may get corrupt in data.
So, the topic of this thread is solved

[Q] Fixed battery drain issue?

Hello, new to this forum and seeking some help. I'm sure you're all aware of the battery drain issue with the Xperia Z from an update about 5months ago. I got a new system update for 4.4.4 last night. Basically is this a fix for the battery drain issue or is Google Play Services still a problem?
I've installed the update and it doesn't seem much better. I have enabled Google Play Services again after having it disabled for 5months and my battery is still draining about 10% every 10minutes without even using it. I have stamina mode on, internet off etc.
Any advice would be appreciated
Cheers.

Android os and Google play service eating battery on OnePlus 3T OOS 4.0.1

After uninstalling FB and messenger I've been using this for a day now and the battery drain has slowed down but it is still draining ,Android System, Google Services, Android OS are top battery drainers draining 100+ MaH each battery drained from 100â„… to 75â„… in 5 hours with 1H 16Mins SOT :crying:
try wipe cache from google services framework.
the android os drain could also be because of swiftkey. delete / freeze it.
after both do a reboot and monitor it again.
-wipe cache in recovery
-wipe google service cache
-disbale Swiftkey
-turn off data when not in use
This is a problem that is affecting so many users that have updated to Nougat it appears there is no solution and Google are doing nothing about it people have reported this from very early on in the developing stage of Nougat an they have turned a blind eye to it!each day my screen would use up 5-7% of battery while android os would use 15% which is crazy oneplus have confirmed to users that an update is coming over the weeks which will fix it but im not getting my hopes up cos the problem appears to be with google an nougat not with one plus

Play services battery drain xperia z3 compact

Hi to everyone. I have a problem with google play services that drain my battery (It consume about the 25% of the battery). I've tried to reinstall the rom with xperia companion and I've also tried to use greenify, (with xposed and donation package) but the problem persist. I have MM .291 built. I'm thinking to downgrade to KK or LL.
Thanks guys
If you use both 4G and wifi, you can Restrict app background data. Then Google Play Services cant drain battery during 4G network.
Settings > Apps > Google Play Services > Data usage > Turn on Restrict.
I've restricted background data. Now I'm going to monitor the battery usage. Thanks
I've struggled with this for months without success.
Switching to the Sony Concept Rom sorted it, but I prefer the regular z3c rom.
Interested to hear if you solve it!
I've restricted background data of google play services, but I've noticed that whatsapp messages don't arrive if the phone is in standby
I'm thinking to install a custom rom such as AOXP 1.5.7 ROM, X P E R I E N C E & R O Mâ„¢ or Discontinued Rom
oh. im not use whatapps, but my fb messenger still work well.
Have you try this way: keep Play services running, but turn off Google Backup Transport (Settings > Backup & Reset > Backup my data FF); turn off Google Location History (Location > Google Location History : OFF); manage your Google sync (accounts > google > turn off some settings you dont need it)
This "Google Play Battery Drain" is NORMALLY just after you flashed a new ROM, and Google has to synchronize settings + data with you device. It should settle itself after normal usage time ( ~ 5 - 7 days)!
As you stop more services / process, Google Play Services will try to restart those even more frequently, resulting into a more heavy loss of battery power. ( --> don't do it for the first week! )
Mind if you tell me what ROM you are using?

He basically says what I'm saying, leave the device alone, don't make any fancy changes in the first week, then after that, log the battery performance.
By "Stock Rom" you mean the orignal .ftf rooted + xposed OR SliMM .291 rooted + xposed?

Nope, It's an original Sony stock rom that I've rooted following this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/guide-newbshow-to-291-mm-z3clocked-t3536395
but now I would try this one https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/development/rom-aoxp-rom-v1-t3478863 that also promise to fix the play services battery drain.
In any case should I do a factory reset, do not restore any previous backup and then let the phone alone for the first week right?

Yep, just let it settle itself before doing anything outrageous
And use it like you normally do, but don't care about the battery anymore. Most times it's a placebo effect, as the constant fear of something can result in overexaggerating things.

Now the battery usage seems return to normality. Play services consume only 6%
Only the "android operative system" consume is still high, but I think is normal... maybe...

Just stop touching that battery menu for several days

Help,Google Play Services drain my battery

Hi guys
I don't know what to do anymore with these problem due to Google play services that consume my battery very fast.
So far I tried:
-uninstall updates and reinstall again Google play services via google play store
-freze some Google applications
-disable locations
-disable sync
-uninstall Google chrome and reinstall
-boot in the recovery and perform clear cache
-4 full resets of the phone
-flash again the stock firmware via Odin
After a few days this problem comes again and I Don t know what to do anymore. Is the first time when I have this problem, before note 8 I had S8 and the battery was awsome.
Sometimes if I restated the phone the problem goes away for a few hours...
What else should I try to fix this Google play services issue?
Are you sure it's the play store that draining your battery? Maybe It's one of your apps that causing the play store go haywire?
Google Play Services is the first battery drain.Every night, before to sleep I have to power off the phone for about 3min and after that on again and for about 24 hours no issue with play services...but now this trick is not working anymore....
Remove Google account, then clear data/cache on all the Google apps, then re-add the google account
Disable auto update of apps when connected to WiFi.

I've tried all the advices and the problem haven't gone.
In the last 4 days I flashed another stock firmware via Odin with the same results..Google play services starts to consume the battery as soon as I start the Wi-Fi or mobile data.Right now I don't have installed any applications in my phone, just the stock ones and this **** Google play services is the first drain battery.I put my phone in Safe Mode and again, there is the first consumer, runs all the time and my phone is getting very hot due to this ****...
In setting>connection>data usage, find google play service and check if background data showing huge amount of mb. If so, maybe it's constantly running in background which draining the battery. Then in the same page, try to turn off 'allow background data usage'
This only effect when you're using mobile data. To make it effect when using wifi, check 'restrict network' and turn off the wifi network there. This should prevent google play service consume date in background.
Not sure if its work but worth a try.
Thanks for this advice.Yesterday I flashed again another firmware with Odin and the problem is still here but only when I use Wi-Fi Google play services starts to run all the time and to stop it I have to power of Wi-Fi and restart the phone and use only data mobile. So far, this is my fix for this problem...will see in the next days
I was getting the same annoying message about google play draining battery. I deleted the last 3 apps that I recently installed.. i restarted the phone and never got the error message again.. the apps were magicjack, hopper and zelle. cant tell exactly which one was the culprit. good luck

No doubt Magic Jack. Are they still around? LOL. Even their USB dongle those years ago lagged my PC down like a ton of lead.
