Depends on what version you are on. I am currently on 5.0.1 and used pingpongroot

As far as I'm aware, ping-pong root has been the only root method for AT&T S6. It worked on the first 2 builds of 5.0.2. If you are on a later 5.0.2 or any 5.1.1 build, there is currently no known root method. Read the ping-pong root thread for more details.

Try a different att store or a bestbuy with a Samsung experience shop inside. Bestbuy with SE store is your best bet

Downgrade G900A OF2 to KitKat or remove lock samsung account

My friend have a refurbished G900A (OF2), and when he tried to start to configure his phone it appeared the message "anormal reset", so we decided to downgrade it but we haven't found any solution (and we researched for hours).
The problem is, the bootloader is locked, and my friend discovered after installing "Supersu", that the phone is rooted.
So, I'm asking for your help to find a solution, or at least find how to change that "anormal reset" message, because when he tried to use any solution on the internet (specially YouTube), the phone responds "Error processing" (or something like that, it's in spanish) when he tries to insert his or my Samsung account, or doesn't allow to start Samsung Apps when he tries to change the "Accesibility" options.
Best regards from Chile!
(And sorry about my english)
Additional info
By the way, I started the phone in bootloader mode. Odin starts and get stucked in "Downloading".

Thanks for your answer!
I tried to do that, but when I unchecked the box to disable the lock, the phone checks it again.
So now I'm thinking as a desperate option, to bring the phone to a Samsung Official service center.

I brought the phone to a Samsung Service Center, and they can't fix the phone, because the AT&T Model doesn't have support in my country.
Is there any way to remove the samsung account lock in the OF2 version?
Your friend might have gotten conned. I once bought a refurbished phone and it had an IMEI lock on it, meaning it was either lost or stolen. So it's possibly a similar situation...

i have had my device rooted since the week i got it in october successfully, no issues. when i got the phone it was on the oi6 firmware, rooted it and put MOAR rom on it, no issues. then on the 23rd the day before i was going to go out of town i changed my primary google account password on my device, and for some reason i couldnt tell you why other than it didnt seem that it would be of any significance that OEM UNLOCK option was enabled so i turned it off not thinking anything of it, and right after i reboot the phone i found myself in a bootloop. only going to samsung galaxy note 5 powered by android with little red writing at top that says custom binary blocked by FRP lock. so i did some research and it became obvious what my issue was that the oem unlock should never had been touched. from what i figure, but that didnt validate why i was never given the chance to actually verify my account being that the device hasnt booted back into the os or any screen other than the splash screen i mentioned and download mode. thats the only two things i can access my download screen reads this

i have tried flashing stock oi6, ive tried PIT file for oi6 ive gotten errors starting from couldnt open com port ehich seems to vary from the different versions of odin more or less, ive gotten complete write fail error, ive gotten COULDNT GET PIT FOR MAPPING as well as THERE IS NO PIT, and so i tried flashing one andit failed or just wouldnt go through, i mean ive just about ran the well dry as far as what ive read to do. Odin recognozes the device, i just cant get it to flash anything. as for all i know the device is wiped. my assumption.

Try use Samsung KIES (or Samsung Smart Switch) on Windows PC to flash/restore your firmware. I've never had to this way though.
And BTW. This is not a "hard brick", so your thread title is misleading. It's "soft"...

Awfully suspicious if you can't find your serial number.
They all come on the sticker that seals the two halves of the box. This is standard from Samsung.

mate, its really nothing to worry about, it isnt hard bricked,
i had the exam same issue, that oem lock can be a real pain in the arse,
all you need to do is download the firmware, and i mean not just the same android version, but the same, as in oc1 ok1, what ever version you were rocking,
in my case it was the latest firmware available on sammobile,
and flash it via odin,
after that you must wipe cache, data, and factory reset to be a able to use your phone,
once booted,
you can login with you google account, enable oem unlock from dev mode, and install custom recovery and do what you do from there.
cheers

ALL EARS
So long as you are using genuine Samsung firmware or smart switch you do not need OEM unlocked.
If Odin is not recognizing your phone something has gone wrong with either your drivers or your phone is in a bad state.
Power down your phone, if you have to because it is restarting, catch it so you get back into download mode.
Then follow these steps exactly as they are laid out.
Open Smart Switch, click MORE, click Emergency software recovery and initialization, click device initialization, type in your model number using caps and dashes such as SM-N9200 or whatever your device is, then input your serial number again using caps for all the letters in your SN, finally connect your phone to your PC and continue with the prompts from Smart Switch.
The problem is since you have a carrier version, smart switch may not work. There was a guy who said it would not work for an AT&T phone.
Good luck.
Edit: I checked in smart switch using the sprint model number and it took it so you should be good to go.

yes i can get it in download mode ive installed the drivers from samsung website for the note 5, and installed them. is there other drivers i should install fgor it to recognize it? i also am successful in getting smart switch to recognize the SM-N920P for my phone model but i am unclear on how to obtain the serial number that smart switch wants. ive tried the dec hex the imei esn hex and the spc none of which it accepts. i have the box and it doesnt say serial number anywhere so im lost when i get to that point

That is a problem then because you need that number. It should be labeled SN and should be a mix of letters and numbers. Perhaps sprint keeps those records on file.
Good luck.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5, i need help ASAP.

This all started when i accidentally deleted a text message that i needed, i did a search on google how to recover a text message. I downloaded some software that was recommended on a reputable site, i scanned the file with Kaspersky etc and it was fine.
The software was pretty straight forward to use, you basically needed to go into developer mode to enable debugging which was easy enough and the software did the rest, it said on the site that rooting wasn't needed.
Anyway, it didn't recover the text message. After i disconnected my Note 5 from the PC i had this Security notification warning coming up which says "Unauthorised actions have been detected, restart your device", i've done that several times and nothing happens. I've tried going into the phone updates but it won't even allow me to connect to the update servers as i get a message which says
"The operating system on your device has been modified in an unathorised way. Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your PC or visit a customer service centre".
I've tried doing updates via Smart Switch but i can't even check if i'm upto date or not, i tried a hard reset via the home button, volume up switch and the power button but that hasn't done anything. The phone seems to function normally but it has this constant security notification being displayed.
I've tried going into the download mode to check the knox counter but a big yellow triangle comes up first with an exclamation mark inside it with a white android man underneath and it says under that "No Command , it pauses for a while then the boot and reset option list eventually appears, it's got yellow writing above the list saying Android Recovery but nowhere does it say the knox counter.
Before the above this is a UAE Note5 that is standard and hasn't been rooted, it's a stock phone.
Any ideas as to what i can try or do next ?
Do you have a link to this software you used?
One was called FonePaw, that didn't work so the one that i tried after seem to give me all these issues, that one was called Dr.Fone Toolkit for Android, version 8.3.3.64
It wouldn't let me post a link saying something about me being a new member.
This is the strange thing, ive been into the download screen a few times via the home/volume up and power button. Where normally you get a nice neat list with the actions you can do, their was a lot of yellow text at the top left, the actual list was underneath all that yellow text, it didn't have the Knox line where it usually is. I then downloaded PhoneInfo *Samsung* and that gave me a lot of info, it said the Knox was 0x0
Download mode screen says:

Help! Downgrade from Oreo N950F

Hello everyone, I have a problem, since I updated my phone to android "Oreo", it started to fail, it restarted, the battery lasts less, and sometimes it has many "Lags".
Download a version from "Sammobile", but when I try to go back to the previous version the process fails.
In "Oreo" I did all the "Wipe", but the problems aren't solved, since time later they come back out. I want to go back to android "Nougat", my "Note 8" was very good with that system, it even lasted me all day.

Well since you didn't read before upgrading your phone, now you're screwed and staying on Oreo because Samsung blocked downgrading.. No matter how much you try it's just going to keep failing!! All you can do now is try to fix all the problems you think it has and make the best of it and next time read about what you're planning to do first so you don't end up in this situation again!!
As mr mike said, there is absolutely no way for going back to 7.1.1 once you upgrade to 8.0.0, no way, but, you may try to flash another oreo firmware with an equal or higher bootloader version, there should be one that works for you, be patient and try
