[Q] wont boot after trying to convert system to jfs (E: Can't open /cache/recovery

Hi guys I really need some help here ! (Im sorry for the looks of my post but Im really clueless..)
So I updated KERNEL to 4.6.8 ( [KERNEL][Voodoo Snd-MIC-OC-TRCU-BFQ-ZRAM] Super Optimized Kernel 4_6_8 STABLE [01-18) and wanted to convert system to JFS under lagfix menu. So I cliked it, system rebooted and asked me if I wanted to do so and what kind of I wanted, I selected JFS and it did somethign and rebooted.
thats when it started, it was loading forever (30-40 minutes on Galaxy S screen). Finaly I gave up and restarted it using power buton, but the same thing. Got stuck at Galaxy S screen...
So I went into Recovery (Recovery and Download mode both still work) and got the message:
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.0 SOK ULFK
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open CACHE: recovery/log
I tried to disable the lagfix but it got stuck on blackscreen saying something like:
E: Can't open lagfix!
I tried wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition, but it still gave me the message after each one (even though it wrote that the proces itself went well)
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open CACHE: recovery/log
I even tried to restore, but the first time it was a way to short (one minute or so) and it said it couldnt restore something (cache and something else).
The next time (I choose different nandroid backup) it also gave me the message, rebooted and got stuck at Galaxy S screen again...
I really dont know what to do.. it probably went down when I force-powered it down when it was still converting the system.. but I dont see how that could have been considering normal lagfix conversion didnt take a third of that time.
Should I try to flash some ROM or KERNEL ? I mean it seems to me that thats about all I can try now
btw. if I for example go into TWEAKS menu in recovery it says
Enabled options:
Couldn not create config file
it really seems its all coruppted

[Q] Galaxy S won't boot: can't mount sdcard, mmcblk0p2

Hey,
A friend gave me his Galaxy S after another friend of him got it into this following state (I'm not sure what exactly he did or tried to do):
The phone is stuck in a boot loop, sometimes it shows the first frame of the boot animation for a second before booting again. When I start it in recovery mode (Android System Recovery (3e)) I get this error messages:
Code:
-- Copying media files...
E:failed to mount /sdcard (File exists)
E:copy_dbdata_media:can't mount /sdcard
your storage not prepared yet. please use UI menu
for format and reboot actions
The phone does not have an SD card in it.
After reflashing with the same firmware as original, I get these errors:
Code:
-- Copying media files...
E:failed to mount /sdcard (File exists)
E:copy_dbdata_media:can't mount /sdcard
your storage not prepared yet. please use UI menu
for format and reboot actions
meida files copy failed.
-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
Formatting /dbdata...
Formatting /cache...
Deleting Meta Data
Data wipe failed.
I've tried flashing different firmwares too, including rooted ones, and the results were the same except for a case where the first error was about not being about to mount mmcblk0p1 instead of sdcard, and another case where another firmware cause the phone to appear to boot, but after a minute or too it got stuck on a black screen and stopped responding.
I followed many different guides on how to fix similar problems, but none of them actually worked.
Please help, thanks a loooot in advance.

Maybe it will help?
Thanks for the reply. Solutions 1-3 are irrelevant, as I can get into download mode, but even after flashing, any version, the problem is still there. I tried solution 4 (dbdata flash), but it doesn't solve anything. Are there any other partitions I can flash and might be able to solve this?
Ok, next thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069867
Maybe here is solution?
Tried flashing the files there and no luck, still the same error. =/
I sent Faria, who said he has tools for solving this problem in that topic a PM, hopefully he'll share his tools with the community.
Meanwhile, I don't mind trying different solutions.
I also noticed something – if I keep the phone in the boot loop for a long time, it will eventually get to either a loop of the carrier boot animation (Which normally doesn't loop), or actually boot for one time. (When it booted I tried to power it off and see if it would boot again normally, and it didn't =/)
i have this kind of error few months ago, what i do was, flash pit file only with repartition, then flash pda, phone & csc.... agn flash this dbdata.rfs file, should fix the issue.
Just tried it, no luck, exactly the same error as before. =/
ops... sorry to heard that, at least it work for me but too bad not for u.....
I have the exact same error message and problem . Really hope someone can find a fix for this because I've spent hours and hours
Yep, EXACTLY same problem as OP and NO fixes for me yet. Tried everything from this thread and other threads. Let's see who's the real king of knowledge who can fix this.
any luck with this issue?
In my case it was solved by Click, but as in thread: for some people it works with repartition, while for some - without.
Or, try it Here I'd pay attention to page 2, Darky's resurrection... maybe looking for newer version at Darkyrom.

i tried all this various methods. i was able to boot into android but after reboot, it never got into android anymore. stuck in boot loops. ill try Darky's resurrection now, its the last option i havent tried yet. i cant believe there are no scripts or smth to fix and rebuild file system in such cases.

I'd be interested with results as well. As last hope, you can try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330491 this one, but it requires hardware mod...

any update or fix?
Someone found any fix for this?
Yep!
Hi guys!
Yep - probably I found the solution. One month ago I have bought i9000 with this problem (as broken). Finally I managed to start that SGS and even install ICS on it. The problem is (as I suppose) that internal flash memory is broken and You have to move /data partition to external SD card. So some flashes, some changes in files and repartitioning of SD card does the thing.
Currenty I am in the middle of preparing a tutorial to be pushed on YT to show how I managed to solve the problem. Stay tuned
Best regards
this is a hope.. =)=)=) please send me a tutorial. thanks
Ready
So.
Finally I had some time to add voice recording to my movie and volia - is ready.
I hope it will help at least somehow.
I am not sure if this manual will help in Your case(s), but it might be at least a hint
Best regards
Fteller.
^ So, umm, where's the link for your YT video? Thanks.

Samsung gt-i8190 e:mount bind /data/media error=255, panic kernel, wrong screen logo

Hi,
I'm sorry for my english.
I have a Samsung gt-8190 s3 mini and i have many problems. I had given my phone to a friend to update it and now i have a lot of problems.
I dont know the firmware, i dont know what he was done with my phone.
On the first screen arrears Samsung s2 i9100, On twrp menu when i put wipe, format, fix permissions i have messages like failed e:mount -o bind /data/media process ended with error=255 , failed to mount, e:unable to stat /data/lost+found. When i reboot to system appears the message panic kernel 0x00000008 or the system always reboot.
What can i do? Is there way to format all data and built the cellphone from the beginning?
Please help me.
Thanks, Giannis

Xiaomi Mi3 Locked

I have a Mi3 wearing normally until this morning I found him to touch off. On power it is left in the IM logo with nothing. I tried to change the system 1 to system 2 and again it stays in my logo. Then I tried to do a complete wipe and still not working. At least you can seamlessly access to recovery and fastboot. I have again changed to System 1.
Finally, and I had left was to use the application MiFlash Xiaomi, so trying to solve with the latest build of Global MIUI gives me errors.

Grated and lost, it struck me as TWRP install a recovery by ADB. In doing so I was having problems with the partitions as they could not mount volumes.

I would also like to mention that when I present the TWRP recovery and also try to mount the systema in Windows Explorer I get the MTP "MI 3W" icon, let me get inside but I have "permission" to create nothing inside the folder contains nothing (I guess when to make the flash was not due to complete by bugs and does not have any system).
To all this, I think it can be solved because you can seamlessly access and fastboot recovery. I hope someone can help me really...
Sorry for my bad English, I used Google.

N900a Failed to Mount EFS

I woke up today and my Note 3 was dead. I assumed the battery died as that is in all likelihood what happened. I plugged my phone into the charger and attempted to turn it on. It stayed on the Samsung logo for several minutes. I then booted it into recovery mode, and noticed at the bottom, E: Failed to mount /efs (invalid argument). I attempted a cache wipe and at first it said failed to mount /cache, however another attempt and it completed without error. I then tried a reboot with the same problem. Next I tried a system/data wipe and got the same problem (failed to mount efs).
So, I used a 4 part Odin flash to 5.0 Lollipop OEM. This succeeded and upon reboot the phone got as far as the AT&T logo then hung again. Once in recovery I noticed the same E: Failed to mount /efs (invalid argument). I have searched on this and many other forums attempting to resolve this issue without success. I've been at this nonstop for 12 hours now. I know of a way to use adb to create a generic EFS folder, the problem is the phone is 100% stock, including no developer options(adb), custom recovery, etc. Not even busybox.
Anyone with any info on how I can unbrick this phone would greatly appreciated. Or even how I can use Odin to install safestrap w/ root thereby giving me the ability to mount the system with TWRP and send adb commands that way. To clarify, I have access to nothing but the stock recovery and download mode without ADB active on the phone. Thanks for your time.
