Ive posted this in rom related forum but thought maybe here i could get more answers.
I was running sammy 5.5.9 with barbossa 2.8.7.0 without problems. Waking up this morning(too late by lacking of alarm) i found my phone rebooting time after time... when i entered recovery i mentioned there was 0mb of internal storage. The phone does get in recovery and downloadmode also shows my ext. sd card. It also shows internal memory although thats shows 0 mb.
I tried factory reset.......failed
I tried installing rom........failed
Is this a case of dead phone or is here someone willing/able to help me??
No one?

Hello. This is my first post, but I have been a reader for a while. I recently bought Samsung Galaxy Note. Rooted it using the ZergRush exploit and installed CriskeloROM v0.6.
It worked perfect for a week, but then something wierd happened.
On my way to work I got out of the door and opened spotify as usual, but the screen just blinked and the app didn't start. When I looked into this it seems as if the phone won't recognize the SD card.
Saying that the phone won't recognize the SD card isn't entirely true. The phone know the card is there, but it appears as full.
USB storage: Total space 11.08GB - Available space - 0.00B, not even a single byte.
When I hook the phone to a pc, I can see that I in fact have about 8GB of free space. I can also without problem browse all the files as if nothing was wrong.
The things I know I have done that might interfere with it is that the other day I was going to copy some wallpapers into my phone. To do this I was required to encrypt the disk station using BitLocker. I have also by accident disconnected my phone without dismounting.
I have done alot of searches in google and on this site, but I have yet to find someone with the exact same problem as me.
I have tried to take out the battery and leaving it out for 15 minutes.
I excuse the wall of text and my poor english.
Thank you

When you boot into recovery and mount internal SD is the info correct there?
Thanks for the answer!
When I boot into recovery, witch I thought was CWM but witch turns out to be HyperDroid RedPill Recovery, probably changed when I installed the ROM (?), I can choose
- Mount internal SD
Witch leads me away from the menu and into a new little menu.
"USB Mass Storage device. Leaving this menu unmount your SD card from you PC.
-Unmount
-+++++Go Back+++++
And that's it.
However when I try to actually do a recovery (the recovery file is in the internal SD) I get the message:
"HyperDroid RedPill Recovery
E: Unable to write to usm lunfile (No such file or directory)Error mounting /sdcard!
E:Can't mount /sdcard"
do you have an external sd card in the phone? some kernels seem to swap the internal and external about
No I do not. Thanks for the answers guys!
hello!
i have an i9000 that produces this error after flashing stock. and is stuck on a boot loop.
i believe* the internal SD is damaged.
i think there was a good (and understandable) guide on how to make the phone running from the external SD card (using ADB to swap the lines in /etc/vold.fstab)
tried to search for it but with no luck.
made me think maybe i was wrong and this wasn't covered? found hacks swapping the Internal & external storage, but they assume the phone is working, and doesn't contain detailed explanation. with all the info here it should be possible to run it from the external SD without a problem.
* reasons that makes me believe the internal SD is damaged is that just before the phone got stuck on boot loop, all apps / photos were erased on every reboot, until it stopped loading up.
plus, i already tried all the flashing stock, wiping data, complete SD card format and flashing .pit.... basically everything i found, and it didn't work.

I got this one as well but in my case this happened when I was flashing from stock 2.3.6 to CM9. I found on the net that I should flash twice. I tried and it resolved the issue. Hope it helps.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984140 <- FLash that as a PDA using odin after u flashed stock.
thanks for trying, but that didn't work.
Hi. i have a xperia z from tmobile which i rooted and installed the dual boot recoverys!
I usually use the twrp recovery since the cwm doesnt work for me , i dont know why but thats not the problem.
It's a locked bootloader.
well i was flashing a zip file using the twrp and everytime i flash something i always wipe cache/dalvik since ive always had many rooted devices.
But when i did so on my xperia z, it was showing the loading bar like is was wipin, it took awhile then the lights of the display dimmed and turned off.
I thought it wouldnt turn on and i was puzzled...but i booted it up and it turned on fine.
however after that i tried to download a file off the broswer and it said "no sd card" and im like? ok?
i thought it was the actual sd card at first, ejected it put it back and it shows that it reads it..
then thats when i noticed it was talking about my sd card, but my internal storage.
it shoes the amount of storage im using but not how much i have in total which is strange..
it wont let me use certain apps saying its not reading it...
i tried using fixed permission but it does nothing to help and trying to re-wipe cache says error and doesnt read..
hope someone can help me, sorry for the long paragraph! lol
EDIT: BTW when i connect it to the pc it shows my both storage devices, internal and sd card but on the internal it says "0 bytes" and shows nothing. but on sd card is shows the gb amount correctly!
Hi all
For days I've been flashing all different kinds of things in hope to get my phone fixed, but I just can't find the answer.
So for those of you most kind enough to help, here's what's going on with my captivate (at&t)
I took it out of my pocket last week and the phone was frozen. Sometimes it happens... a quick pull out of the battery and re-insert fixes it in most cases... but not this time.
After restarting the phone was hanging on boot screen (CyanFox bootscreen).
I restarted... 15 minutes on that bootscreen still. I had no idea what was going on.
So I decided to reflash. It was a big decision, seeing as this ROM has been working absolutely fine for weeks, but I needed to get it working.
Soon after getting it into recovery, CWM was saying that it couldn't mount /sdcard
I tried even flashing using Odin to go back to stock following the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843 still not working.
Most of them ended up showing that little android loading bar for a second or two, but then get stuck in a boot loop.
I tried flashing many different kernels, and different recoveries, but everything all pointed towards: Unable to mount /sdcard
But alas, finally I found something that more or less works. I flashed the Initial Kernal for Cognition: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127578
And I finally got back into a working device... or so I thought.
The phone is still unable to access the internal SDCARD. Just says 'unavailable'. I tried putting in an external 2GB sdcard, but that reads as Total Space: 00, and Available Space: 00
The external sdcard I know works, because my wife's samsung mini2 reads it just fine.
Multiple formats and it still can't be read.
I tried plugging in the device into my pc and select mass storage, but although the computer detects that the phone is plugged in (in device manager) the 2 drives for internal and external both remain hidden, and cannot be accessed.
I have absolutely no idea what to do next. I've used Odin and Heimdall, Repartitioned, and followed every stickied guide here, but I still can't find what to do.
I really appreciate any help anyone can give me on this.
Just for the record, ADB works just fine from my PC. I can send the commands to the device, but mounting the sdcard still proves impossible at this stage (no file exists).
Thanks again, I look forward to any advice anyone can spare.

i had the same problem a couple of weeks ago...
you internal sd card is dead...
you can do nothing about it for now...
if you want to confirm open your camera app and see if you can take any pictures...
if no, then follow the things as i say..
this requires you to do a partition of your external SD card and to that it should be formatted, so take the neccessary backups..
1) download this http://www.mediafire.com/download/sbjd049x4m36pb6/I897UCKI2_noBL_BoogsKernel.rar
2) after flashing this stock firmare with cwm, open up the recovery.
3)follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447303
4)i couldn't get ICS to work..
5)so you can now use kitkat roms only on the captivate as we have the kernel for 4.4 only with swap sd
6)so after you follow the guide and boot into ICS, copy the rom.zip which you want to flash and the neat kernel swap sd, which can be found here http://www.mediafire.com/download/s34o69u39u66x8n/NeatKernel_v1.03-[02-08]-cma-swap-captivate.zip, be sure to thank the developer here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2548081
7)so flash the kitkat om which you want to use,and then flash the neat kernel after flashing the rom after that you can flash the gapps and reboot..
if you do everything like i said, your cappy will be up and working again..
Sir, you are a gentleman and a scholar
Although it didn't go exactly as planned step by step, with your instructions I finally managed to get it working on my 2GB external card.
Here was the process I did
1) Downloaded CM11, Gapps, Stock Kernal and the SwapSD kernal you linked
2) Flashed the stock kernal, the phone just went on a rebooting spree.. but after a few attempts I got it into recovery using the 3 finger combo
2) Followed the instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447303 to partition the external SD card. (Since I have only a 2GB card, I partitioned 1GB for data, and 0MB for swap)
3) Done the classic wipe sys/ cache/ data
4) (Here is where things changed a bit for me, as I couldn't boot into ICS either. And no other rom would work at this point) I installed the new SwapSD kernal to get a newer version of CWM by mounting USB storage via CWM and copying the files to there.
5) The device rebooted a couple of times during install, but it automatically went straight back into the newer CWM.
6) Installed CM11, let that finished and installed Gapps straight after.
7) Rebooted and the phone is now reading my external sd card as its internal storage, which is fantastic
Although with it's limited storage and broken internal storage, it still needs replacing, but at least I now have a device from which I can still run a few apps on regardless.
So thank you again dude
*edit* just need to figure out why the adb drivers decided to not work anymore.
Sometimes I hate having windows 8...
So just a quick run down of the what happened. I am rooted with safestrap. I had the slimkat rom installed and I have a nandroid backup of my slimkat rom and stock rom.
I tried to use the app called internal to external to swap my internal and external sd so I would have more room (stupid because I didn't know what I was doing). First I copied all the files from my internal storage to the external sd per instructions including the safestrap files(Probably part of my problem). Then for those familiar with the app I selected the sdcard and sdcard-ext for the first two options and sys/dev/block/179:97 for the third option where it says select the sdcard at the system level. For the mount option I had unmask=0000.
Anyway I hit the swap button and not much changed. I checked storage and it showed that the internal storage was clear but it still only said 2gb were available. I then rebooted and it was stuck in a boot loop. Its pretty messed up no but with much playing I can still sometimes get into safestrap, but when I look in the rom slots it says there is 0 space available internal. I have tried to do wipes but it says it can't wipe cache. Right now it is active under slot 1 but if I try to activate any others it crashes. I tried to restore my nandroid but it fails. I can still move files in file manager though.
Is there anything I can do that might help? And would restoring with rsd lite even help at this point? Thanks for any ideas!
Ok so it a crazy turn of events it actually booted to stock jb and is still rooted but it is still pretty messed up. In files it says that the internal has 0 free space but I can still open it and see its files. It won't save pictures because it says no space is available. See pictures. I am going to try to leave it on so it might be a little easier to work on the files. Is there a way to unflip what ever I flipped with that app?
So with it booted back up I installed the external to internal app again and played with it some more. At first I had though I had made it worse because it said the SD card was the internal and the external. But I rebooted it and after a series of wipes and restore attemps I was able to restore my stock and slimkat backups. Everything looks good except I has a flashboot error every time I reboot but I think I might have found the a way to fix that also. Thank you Lord!
