I've searched High and Low for a solution but I can't find anyone who have the same problem as I do.
My Galaxy Tab is running on 2.3.3 and it has been good all this while. Then recently, when my Galaxy Tab shows the 100% fully charged symbol, after unplugging it falls back into the battery % I had before charging. (This happens when I left it idle/when I'm sleeping)
Basically the problem is, it wouldn't charge. So I decided to monitor it as it charges. After 2 hours or so, the battery still shows 53% charging and did not increase. Neither did it drop while charging.
However, when I drain it a little, it varies. For example when I drain it to 43% and recharge after that, it might charge till it's 60% or 55% and stuck.
I need a solution. Thank You
Well first of you should try to use an app called battery calibrator.
But it can also be that you have one of the faulty Taiwan battery's. Samsung replaced them later on with China battery's and they don't have this problem...
I have an Taiwan battery with similar troubles. I for example can charge to 100% then disconnect and fall too 99% instantly. Then if I reboot I come back with 50% battery or less left...
So I don't reboot my phone when not at home
Anyways, I orderd a new Chinese battery from eBay ...
i have a bit same problem. when i charge the battery percentage still the same even if i charge it for 2 or 3 hours...is this a software problem?pls help.thnx
Hello all; today i bought a used samsung galaxy note the battery was at around 13% so i puted it to the charger , the indicator showing that it is charging i was playing with it
and i saw that if i use it the battery is discharging , and if i leave it the battery charging but very slowly i left it around 1 hour to charge to 20%.
the Q: is this thing normaly for samsung galaxy note or my phone is faulty ?
and what the problem could be ?
hi andy325e.. this is what i do with all my new phones that i bought since last year, just a quick share. when u bought a new phone, always remember to discharge the battery first until your phone turn off. After that, you charge your phone until the battery reach 100% or max 6hours. This method will bring the max performance and better battery life for your phone. For your case, just take out the battery and put it back in. Switch on your phone, let the battery drain. When your phone turned off, charge your phone. I hope this will solve your problem. Good Luck..
I just got my xperia z, just wondering do i need to charge it for like 8 hours straight for the first time charge after draining its battery?
Also, will the battery overcharge if i accidentally leave it on the charger for extended periods of time?
I always find it best to follow what the manufacturer says, in this case:
Charge for 30 minutes before first use - after that, use untill drained and recharge till full - you're done. No "formatting" of the battery is needed, it's a thing of the past.
And no, the battery will not overcharge. If it could overcharge - they wouldn't make a charging dock for it. Modern batteries have a chip inside that measures their charge level and cuts the power when they reach 100%.

You can not damage the battery by leaving it on the charger. The first charge won't take 8 hours, after reaching 100% it is fully charged.
Ah shoot, what I did was slightly different than you said :/
I sorta drained the battery on first use, and it's currently charging and just reached 100%..it doesn't make much of a difference though, does it? or do i need to do some specific steps like to drain the battery all over again and recharge til full?

NO need to charge it before using
however u don know wht s the battery level it s ok to charge it for 30mins But if the phone has more than 50% charge u don need to charge it at first use.
anyway if u didn do that like me and found ur battery has more than 50% charge thr s no problem at all However no problem if less than 50%
it s a smart device so thr s no over charge for its battery
Ah okay, then there should be nothing to worry about
thanks for the replies!
Please state how long does your s3 mini charges from 0% to 100%? Thanks
It would say more than 3 hours.I never had a phone that charges so long, its really annoying.
Never been discharge it totally to 0%.
But from 30%, it would take around 1 - 2 hours I guess.
Not that hard. 1.5(battery) / 0.7(charger output) = 2.14 (if phone off)
Hey guys,
I haven't used my Galaxy Tab S2 in a while now. When I plugged it in it was at 0%. I used "a" (possibly not original that came with box) OEM 2.0A Samsung Charger + Note 5/Samsung Official Cable to charge my tablet. It has only gone up by 5% in the past 30 minutes.
Also when it was at 0% it said it'd take 7hr 12min to fully charge.
Is this normal when the tablet has not been used in a long time, or am I possibly looking at a bad charger/cable as the charger and cable charge my Note 5 just fine at the normal (non-fast charge) speed where it charges my phone fully in just over 1hr 30 min.
If someone could help me out to resolve this I'd be grateful.
Thanks!
Don't think the charger and cable are faulty as they work on your mobile. Generally whenever I charge my Samsung galaxy tab s2 using a different charger it shows a notification if the charger plugged in is slow. If it didn't show this I don't see why it would take so long other than the charger your using has a lower output causing it to take a lot longer than usual to charge.
Every android device I have will sometimes not charge fast enough - it doesn't matter what charger I'm using. If I catch that the charge is slow I just unplug it and replug it a it'll be normal again. I think the "smart charge" goes crazy sometimes.
I had the same problem on the tab s2 8''. It was because the motherboard broke. They fixed it under warranty.
When I had this problem I couldn't attach any external device (usb, playstation controller) through USB. Try if you can
I don't have the original charger anymore to compare on my 9.7. I use anker potable batteries to be free of wall sockets. It isn't 2.0. In battery monitor widget, really good app, shows charge anywhere from 1200-1600mA 20% per hour while in use during charging. 5 hours total. I think with screen off I get 30%. I get 10 hours of screen on time zero loss with it off over night. Using 5.1
It could be the motherboard. I know with laptops charging starts to mess up a few weeks before it no longer works at. The connection between the USB and board weakens over time/use.

Sounds normal. The big Lion batteries in these devices are just weird at time. Running one down to 0 is a good way to kill the battery permanently. Let it charge slowly and then keep it above 20-30% from now on. Should improve over time.
I think its a myth you shouldn't let the battery get low. As long as the battery itself says I'm at zero at the correct voltage then zero is perfectly fine. I'm not an expert here but at 5% battery I'm at 3.6v and will turn off in a few minutes after that. I think batteries are manufactured to safely go down to 3.2 before saying no more. Need to charge.
