Streaming music issue - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having an issue with one particular streaming music service that I can't replicate on my other phones (Note 4 and Moto E) where the audio will cut out and start skipping once the screen turns off. I have T-Mobile and have tried factory resetting the phone and that did not solve it. Any ideas?

Bluetooth fast forward bug after phone call ends

I noticed a very odd, and big, bug today on my Moto X. I had just got around to linking it to my cars bluetooth and noticed after I ended a call the music didn't resume. Upon opening Pandora I found the music was on fast forward and would not let me stop it. If I was to skip to another song the new song was also on fast forward. I have since tested it on another bluetooth device to rule out my cars bluetooth as the culprit, and it happened on the other device as well. I was also able to reproduce it using YouTube (so it's not a bug with Pandora). I have done a factory reset and the bug remains. I am wondering if anyone else has this or if this could possibly just be a problem with my phone?
Here is the workflow to reproduce the bug:
Connect phone to bluetooth device that supports both phone and music profiles.
Open up youtube and start watching a video (audio will play through bluetooth)
After about 15 seconds click the home button
Call someone (I called a 1-800 number)
After about 15 seconds on the phone, hang up
Now go back to youtube and press play
The video will be playing in fast forward (no audio) and there isn't a way to stop this.
Once you disconnect bluetooth you can then play the video fine
*You may have to make a phone call 2 or 3 times before this happens, but it will happen - at least on my phone.
Can others please test to see if you can reproduce it? My phone is stock and running kitkat with all apps up-to-date. I have also tested this using my Nexus 5 and it does not have this issue. I will try to record a video tomorrow to better show what is happening.
same problem
i am having the same problem, but mine doesn't appear to be connected to bluetooth just all media is fast forward with no audio.
tested so far:
1) audible
2) youtube
3) videos recorded locally stored both on SD and Local drive
4) downloaded videos
5) played on mx player pro, vlc, stock media player
I am rooted and running lollipop on my note 3 N900

[Q] Help! Default media app and other problems.

Just updated to the Samsung Note4 from a SG5 and SG4 before that with many other Android phones.
I've been running into the issue that I can't find anyone else reporting or a resolution to and hope someone here can help.
I listen to podcast or Pandora. Unfortunately this version of Samsung Android, does not allow setting any other application as default for music or media playing.
When ever I connect through earphones, or Bluetooth the Music app automatically plays. Even when another audio app is running and when using either the earphones or Bluetooth button to pause or play will automatically start up the Music app and start playing.
I've partially stopped this by adding Bluetooth Connect & Play app from the Play Store. This is just a small fix that doesn't always work.
Interestingly enough when I turn off my car after listening to a Podcast or Pandora, I turn off the radio 1st to disconnect from the Bluetooth and also stop it from starting backup when I get in, the Phone immediately starts up the Music app and starts playing from the phone speaker.
I have already done a factory reset once.
I have contacted Samsung Support, only to be told that these features are "Samsung manufacturing design."
I have couple of options from what I can tell, Root the phone and change out the ROM with something that is close to stock but works, or Return the phone and take advantage of my 1st gen version of Jump and switch to the second phone in a year, which I am seriously debating. Might just go to the Nexus 6, maybe back to the Samsung GS5 which worked great, or join the herd and go with iPhone which really annoys me to be honest. I like being able to customize my phones which is what is really frustrating with this issue.
If anyone has any suggestions, similar experiences, or general helpful comments, its much appreciated.
Rooted the Note 4 today.
Disabled the Samsung Music app.
Set Google Play as the default music player, but the issue continues as it appears to be a Bluetooth communication issue.
What ever the default music app will respond to all Bluetooth controls, regardless if there is another music/media app running at that time.
Does anyone have a suggestion other than removing all MP3's on the phone and/or deselecting a default media app?
Thanks.

Just to post an update that others might be able to find helpful.
I found a old forum post about this exact issue on other android devices. One suggestion was an app called Media Button Router. It so far seems to be a work around for now.

Definitely having bluetooth issues with newest 5.1 *attached to my Rav4 entune system. I've narrowed *down to the handoff from low quality/low latency phone bluetooth connection back to audio bluetooth connection. Often it will not complete the handoff and there is no sound but phone still thinks it is playing audio and bluetooth on the phone needs to be switched off and back on a number of times to reestablish the connection and sound. This usually happens after a phone call. Sometimes bluetooth will play audio over phone stream during phone conversation. Here's what I've tried : updating car firmware, toggling bluetooth settings in moto app under voice, removing and readding connection in car and phone, disabling Moto functions, disabling message functions. I should note that everything worked fine before update except message access. That works now.

Have the exact same problem after updating to 5.1. Worst update I've ever done. I've yet to find a fix for any of these problems I keep having.
Verizon Moto XT1060, with 5.1.
No issues here. The phone is connected to my car stereo's Bluetooth Headset/Hands Free profile. Since my car has only an AUX input, and doesn't have other BT audio profiles, I'm using a Blackberry Stereo Music Gateway (i.e. bluetooth receiver) connected to my AUX port to stream music..
Phone calls and streaming music work fine. Including while streaming music, it auto pauses for an incoming call, then streaming continues when I hang up the phone call.
You didn't mention in your post if you factory reset as an attempt to fix or not. If you didn't, you might want to consider trying it. I know there is a slight chance it wont correct the issue, but there is enough chance that it might. I'd suggest doing a fastboot erase cache and fastboot erase userdata... then manually setting everything back up, installing apps manually, etc.

Yeah, I did not factory reset, but I may if the problem persists. I may try running safe mode first to see if that makes a difference. I really don't want to set all the things back up...
My threads here and on Motorola's site aren't getting many responses, so I assume it is a specific conflict between Moto x and my cars Bluetooth (that, or since the x is now so old no one that cares uses it in cars any more). Too bad because everything worked prior to the update. Oh well, that's one way to get you to buy a new phone...
I'm continuing to diagnose things bit by bit but I can't find a real pattern or trigger that always disconnects Bluetooth.
Same here.
I'm having the exact same problem. I've set up a tasker profile to trigger on phone idle which toggles the bluetooth off, waits 5 sec, then toggles on again. While this doesn't address the cause, it at least automatically resets and restores my bluetooth audio after a phone call.
Also, it doesn't just happen with my car bluetooth. Also happens with my wireless bluetooth speakers in the house.
Occasionally, when a bluetooth call disconnects, the entire phone locks up and I have to force reboot. This randomly triggers the dreaded "setting up apps" process like a first install. Cleared caches, deleted and reestablished bluetooth devices, even factory reset. All seem to be very short temporary fixes.

Google Home Mini + BT speaker = stuttering music

I encountered stutter when broadcasting music from GHM to my BT speaker. It's like buffering every second. With the Internet connection everything is ok. The router is located near the GHM. When connecting via BT to the phone or through AUX with any other source, my Marshall Acton plays music without any problems. The problem occurs only when the music is broadcast from the GH Mini. It started a couple of days ago. Up to this point, there were no problems for a week. It happens randomly, it can play an hour without stammering, and then start, or vice versa. The GHM itself plays without problems. Tried TuneIn and Google Music. I also tried to reset GHM.
CC Audio has no Bluetooth
Has anyone encountered this problem?
The same thing has been happening for me as well. It only occurs when playing to a Bluetooth speaker. Playback via the Google Home Mini speaker itself is fine and it is right next to the wifi router.
What firmware are you on? Mine are on 1.32.118652. I think it's a preview firmware so it may be a bug in the firmware as nothing I do has made it any better and it was working fine before and has only started over the last few weeks.

The same version. Do you remember what version was before the problems started?

I bought the Home Mini yesterday and found the same problem. Any update about it?
Same
Same here. Stuttering music. Thought I was the only one and there was something wrong with my BT speaker. Stuttering music. FW 1.32.118652
Managed to get it working by unpairing and forgetting, and re-pairing. Now it happens every time my BT speaker goes into sleep mode.
More irritating is that when this happens the Google Home Mini defaults back to its own speaker instead of trying to reconnect.
This is firmware basics. Let's hope they iron this out.
My BT speaker will start to studder with about 25% battery left now or when it's actually plugged in. Fresh charge will run fine.
I'm having this issue too. I'm at the latest update at the time and using Harman Kardon Aura speaker
I'm having the same issue on GHM in 2022, using an Anker Soundcore Flare 2. Seems like Google has not fixed this issue. Does anyone know if Google Nest Mini has the same issue too?

Bluetooth Connection Issue?

Hey guys I don't know if this is a known issue, a "feature," or something else. So I use my Note9 with Bluetooth headphones almost everyday for Spotify. And during the listening sessions, there are no problems at all. But when I pause the music (or any media, really, this applies to Netflix, YouTube, and other apps), after a few seconds my headphones would disconnect then reconnect itself after another few seconds, and it keeps on doing that over and over, which is annoying. At first I thought it was a software problem, so I did reset the phone, even updated the phone to One UI 2.0, and the problem persists. Anyone have this issue?
