Hello everyone,
First of all , I apologize for my English, I 'm French . I , used google translation to post this message.
I have a big problem with my Note 5 (SM- N920C purchased from T dimension in October ) . Aesthetic concern ; let me explain :
In the upper left corner , it makes me like an air bubble between the screen and the casing of the Note 5. As if I had a screen protector peeling , except that it is under the screen.
I discovered this default for the first time last Saturday. At first, it was so small , but it grows by the day !!!!
I specify , my Note 5 since the beginning is protected by a tempered glass. It is never dropped or has never suffered shocks.
Am I alone in this ?
I think it'll be back to the sender for security; Be 'm trying to do with Samsung France , otherwise it's back at T- Dimension for service ..
I am disgusted...!!!!

That is the separation of the film of paint and also a shatter resistant coating underneath the phone. It's basically a small piece of adhesive attached to a screen protector like plastic material that separates from the phone. That's how I have my note 5 with the clear back

How you doing to repair the back cover ?

Definitely send it back, and I did this a long time ago to the s6 a few weeks after it came out and then to my note 5, people do it differently then I do, I personally like how I do it. Because it's faster and better on the glass. Most people use a razor blade but isopropyl/ nail polish remover does the best, keeping the glass from scratching and you can peel it all off and one sticker, make sure to let it soak in the nail polish remover for 10 minutes, one of the edges will inevitably peel up. I'll be 100% honest, I've never been one to brag. But anytime I see anyone with an 05 I have to show them my phone, when I do almost every single time is "holy crap that's cool" when I saw the article on my google now page saying that this guy had a cooler note 5 then i did. I couldn't help but to laugh because my note 5 was already clear lol honestly though it brings back a very retro feel. I'm trying to buy as many note 5 back covers as I can. So I can convert them and sell them clear. For just a little bit more than I bought them for so I can break even. honestly I'd rather everyone have the clear back then the platinum gold or the sapphire blue. The Pearl was pretty nice and so is the silver. sorry for deviating topics. But what I must say is the problem I'm having is much smaller but it's definitely what's happening with you as well I don't think Samsung will have any issues letting you return it. Obviously I voided the warranty on mine lol so they wouldn't do anything in my case. So it looks like it's $124 to replace the screen

Just ask for an exchange.
I sent a message to T- Dimension Hong Kong to explain my problem. Their technical department told me that for them, this defect is due to exposure with water, therefore invalidate the warranty .
Obviously , my rating has never been in contact with water , it's great no matter what !!!!
Just send an email to T- Dimension with a link to a video or Note 5 is immersed for a while . We see very clearly that once out of the water , the rating has not suffered the same fault as mine. I do not know if will be enough to make them change their mind ...

i have same issue and yeah! never been contact with water .:/ dont know what to do
T dimension has nothing to do with my problem. The fault was not enlarged. For now , I leave like that. However, one thing is sure : I never will buy anything from T Dimension . I'll wait patiently Note 6.
Where did you bought your Note 5 ? Is it a N920 C ?
I have the same dam issue. I was gonna contact Verizon, but know they will say it's water related. Never been near water... Argghh

My Birthday is Aug 21 the same day the note 5 was release i was ecstatic to get my new phone i had issues with the first one an sent it back getting a new refurbished one <--- I know funny right we pay all this money to buy a new never used product to have issues with it and have to send it back for a sec. hand item.. well to the point i had a screen protector on my devise and removed it thinking there was a fold in the corner to find out the was a strange bubble under the glass and for a sec i thought i cracked my phone at first wasn't a big deal but now its def. bigger and noticeable.. only solution is WARRANTY!!! to get another depreciated value refurbished Note 5.
Ask samsung exec to prove that phone is in contact with water, if they can't replace the phone.

Well just FYI because I didn't want to get charged for water damage either. And I thought to myself but how can you check the Samsung Note 5 for water damage. So to my curiosity looked it up so if you use a pen and pop open the SIM card slot and remove it get a flashlight and look inside to see there should be a little white square meaning no water damage. If red then you may have dropped it in water at some point and don't remember hope that helps ease your mind when contacting your provider.
I am in Brazil and I have the same problem, common in the first pictures ... still did not take the technical assistance ... we'll see the excuse that will give ...
Same issue in a Verizon Note 5, upper left corner. I need to get this in before my warranty expires.

Just got the same on mine. Top of glass to under the earpiece and from the notification light to past the camera. Friend of mine just mentioned that it looks like he has water damage on his but he didn't spill anything, told him it's probably the same issue. Calling Verizon for warranty and he's going to TMobile, we'll see.
OMG... it's global problem. I have the same bubble... same place... left corner... And I'm sure, It's not a water damage. My phone is under warranty, but I'm afraid, they'll say me It can be changed... we'll see.
I have the same problem. About five days ago a bubble appeared, and it has quickly been spreading across the top of the phone. No drop damage, no water damage, even pulled the sim to double check and the litmus is still white.
I called T-Mobile and they tried to tell me it constituted as physical damage that voided my warranty... So I called Samsung, who told me a screen repair was covered by warranty. My city has a walk in repair shop, so I will be going in tomorrow to get the screen fixed.
I got the bubble too. 9 months old. Upper left corner. Sprint model.

I noticed a problem with my Diamond today - the clear plastic covering the main button has started to peel at one edge (see pic). I've written to HTC to see if they'll repair it under warranty. Anyone else had this?
Crikey - fast reply from HTC:
"Good Afternoon, Essentially, we do cover your device under your warranty for paint peeling. If you call us on our technical support line, one of my collegues would be happy to book your device in for a repair and evaluation. Please can you call: 08458900079 Kind Regards, HTC Europe"
Full marks so far!
R
It was all going so well.... until...
I called the number and explained the issue to the lady on the phone. She told me categorically that this 'plastic refurbishment' is not covered under the warranty - I presume she knew what I was talking about although I could hardly understand a word she said. I explained that the email suggested it was covered. So, she asked me to go back to the email response and tell them what she said.
How annoying - firstly that you get two responses from one company and secondly that they reply on you to communicate between them. One is not impressed!
I have emailed HTC back with the news...
R
Hmm I have the exact same issue with my diamond. Almost 9 months old and I too have the problem off the plastiv letting go just above the home button. Well 1 month to go and I can get me a touch diamond 2 if it is released one month that is.
Now I get this:
Now essentially the HTC Touch Diamond has no known issues with paint peeling. As i did specify in my last e-mail, we can evaluate the device however if our repair center deem this to be caused by general wear and tear this would not be covered under your device warranty. I must also advise that if a quotation is raised due to an out of warranty repair there is a £20 charge to release the telephone back to you. With all that information in mind, would you still want to get this device evaluated?
So, I can pay £20 and be without my phone for 2 weeks in the hope that it *might* be covered. A bit annoyed at this - it is wear to the item but I count this wear to be within reasonable use and that the keys should be fit for purpose.....
R
My reply:
Hi, I think this is quite unfair. Essentially you are saying that I can send my phone in and hope you will see fit to cover it - but this is a risk, and if you presume it to be acceptable wear I will have to pay £20 have my phone released.
I know of others on internet forums who are also having this problem so I am not alone.
In my view, although this is 'wear' to the item it is within reasonable fair usage for the product. In other words the covering to the button is not fit for purpose in this case.
I am not prepared to risk £20 and be without my phone for 2 weeks whilst you decide if this is coverable or not - I have sent you a picture of the problem which clearly demonstrates the fault. The fault is obviously a lifting of the button covering that has occured during normal and acceptable use.
Please talk to your repair team and let me know if I will be covered or not.
Tell them that on other countries (in poland, im sure of) your issue is a 100% covered by warranty. As Poland HTC Support is in GB, and i assume its the same office they answer europe calls.
I know more than 5 people that had given their Diamonds for fix this issue without any cost.
I had the same problem.. I just peeled it off and ordered a screen protector+the bottom part for the keypad and just replaced it.. I didnt want to go through all the trouble. It worked out for me.

hey i remember you gave me the eBay sellers name, for the same one you purchased, but i couldnt find the item that has both screen protector, AND the button protector =/ you lucked out man!
I dont know if i wanna buy it from the seller located in Hong Kong! I just want the one that feels exactly the same as the one that comes with the Diamond
Had exactly the same problem back in January, I just peeled it off. Now the button area is getting quite scratched up and I'd love to get a replacement. I've not found anything on Expansys or elsewhere that's similar.
Cheers
Dave
OK - maybe I have the wrong idea about this. I thought the top layer was an intricate part of the button itself. The above posts seem to suggest it is merely a protective cover that can be easily removed and (if you can find the part) replaced? Is this correct?
R
Yes you can just peal it of, it does take some pealing so take care.
So, once you have peeled it off - what is underneath? Clear plastic? Sticky stuff? Can you rub the button decals off if you do not re-cover it?

Hey.. Yeah I remember giving you the link.. The seller had stock at the time you should have acted fast.. I cant find any seller who sells both pieces except in hong kong:S
Keep trying you might find something soon.
Answer to other questions: Yes you can peel it off. There will be some minor glue residues which you can take off and the decals will not be scratched off. I would replace it immediately though. Remember this is not the perfect solution but it is a fast and easier solution than dealing with HTC.. My opinion anyway. Good luck.
I have the same problem and in the same spot, im here in Australia and when i got fone only Telstra sold them.
I can not get it covered under warrenty.
it sucks.
Exact same problem here at the same corner too.
My initial solution has been to carefully slice off the lifted flap with a sharp knife to stop it ctaching my pocket and coming off further. Be careful of you do this though as you could damage other areas with the knife. I used a thin sharp blade held flat on the face of the phone and gently sliced through the flap from the outer edge.
Same problem here, left corner peeled off, so I peeled the whole cover off, and since I recognised that it gets scratches easily I covered it with a transparent sticker. But I already ordered new navi buttons, just don't know how to replace it...I'll see...
thanks for a useful thread. i had the same problem and just peeled it off. i'll start looking for new protection and post if i find anything
Hi all,
i just get back my p880 after replacement screen since the dust under the screen, but guess what?
It happened again just for 1 week.
i did write a email for them.
Hi,
I wanna make a complain on your flagship product !
last week(roughly Nov 27) i did collect a unit P880 after screen replacement due to dust under the screen. However after 1 week, it still happen again !
This is a quality issue on this unit! and i am not the only 1, my girlfriend also having same problem from day 1, and mine too.
Before sent in , i did ask your staff! your staff say no, this isnt quality issue, so far i am the only 1. i take it at that time.
But when i get back my phone, and this happened again in just 1 week !
And i did research ! i am not the only 1.

Too bad, i dont have a pro camera right now. and also hard to capture by camera.
and i believe those p880 with this issue will be more dust after certain usage.
just 1 week, there are 2 medium dot under screen. from my exp last times, about 1-2 month, there lots of dust and big 1.
really make me so sad. what a product with this stupid issue!
i have the same issue too but its really slight. the dust are hardly seen under normal usage and only when the screen is off and im looking for it.
not something very irritating but yea, it shouldn't be there. btw my Optimus One had this problem too but it was really a thick dense line of dust from the bottom left corner of the screen.

i know where is it, and send before. i post here that because i believe it will happen again after second service.
previously i emailed, they said sent to their service center.
in the service center i asked, and they said no this quality issue on other p880. what i feel is nonsense, just other people lazy go for it.
And purposely go there for same problem, i am quite unhappy, because wasting my time to go and back.
And they just replace the window glass, i dont think can fix permanently, since this is a common issue for most people, wasnt?
Hello I have the same issue, in my P880 I saw specs of dust two days after of purchase, now 2 months later I have many specs, some are very annoying at sunlight. Sadly in my Country I do not have technical support from LG.

How i' fixed one dust dot.
Hello
Today i noticed white dust point between my screen and glass of phone... and.. i was pissed off!!! because phone is one month old!
Tried to calmdown ... but every time when i looked on the screen i saw nothing but that white dot...
So... i don't take any responsibility for this "tutorial" on damaging your glass or screen or phone...
So... turn off you phone ... using your pointing finger make speed hard taps on dust area with little bit bending of whole phone.
With this method i managed to move dust point from middle of screen to bottom edge of screen... and with more bending and taping on edhe area
dust spot is disappeared. (it took me 2 minutes of tapping)
I konw it sounds crazy but it worked and i'm happy again

Isn't this problem partly due to the fact that there's a large gap between the display and touchscreen itself?

So today as I was whatsapping and after sending my messaging I turned the screen off to place my note 4 on the table. As I did so while the phone was still in my hand I noticed a crack/ scratch form itself.
Naturally I took it back to Samsung whom refused to take it back saying it was my fault. In the UK we have a sales of goods act in which the dealer must prove that there is no inherent fault if the product is faulty within 6 months. They just outright refused me.
I will give the head office a call tomorrow and if that gets me nowhere I'll take it to a small claims court.

Ouch. I am not in the UK but I am interested to see how this all turns out
Thanks, the worst part is that I actually watched as the scratch formed itself and grew bigger.
My hypothesis is that it may have been caused by heating and cooling of the phone.
My Note 4 did get pretty warm one time at which point it throttled itself. Hope someone at Samsung actually
knows how the UK law operates and sorts this out.
That seems like a crack, do you have a gap to the near edge there ? Im pretty sure the tiny gaps the phone has are to prevent exactly this type of cracking the screen against the metal edge due to heat cycles
Update: There are now three scratch/cracks which are parallel. I am beyond upset with Samsung and their unwillingness to sort this issue out.
I hope this doesn't happen to me x_x I doubt anyone would believe me if I told them that at best buy or something
Holy sh*t dude.
Let me know how this goes tomorrow. That is NOT cool.
That's not looking good at all, you should repost your story and photos on Samsung's Facebookpage and Google Plus page for everyone to see and hope that they will reply to you there. It might be a way to get around the denied reply you got from techsupport.
/ Magnus
You obviously have a faulty unit. Raise hell and don't give up until they replace it.

Cool story bro. You wouldn't believe it until it happens to you. At the end of the day, if I were to scratch or crack my phone, I wouldn't give a **** and just replace the screen myself.
But in this case, I am disappointed with a phone I purchased less than 2 weeks ago. I'd expect it to be defect free for £630 and if it does have a defect Samsung should have taken it back.
I've never owned an Apple phone before, but I have purchased headphones from the apple store before which when it went faulty after 11 months they swiftly refunded it according to the 'sales of goods act' which the manager lady there said so herself. The lads at Samsung need a sales law seminar.
I see little leprechauns in my garden at night and no one believes me.
My Note 2 has a crack that runs diagonally from the upper left to the lower right. One single continuous crack that mysteriously showed up out of the blue. No spider webbing or whatever. I did NOT drop my phone. I did not witness the crack appear, as the OP, but did notice it shortly after I had been for a walk out in the heat. I have always been convinced that it was a fault in the glass to make it crack in this way. Phone still works fine and I never pursued the issue with Samsung (I had owned the phone approximately 7 months when said crack occurred.) I work at a college and have seen a huge amount of cracked screens...all spiderwebbed and nasty...mine is just the one diagonal edge to edge anomaly. So yeah, I believe it could happen. Good luck getting Samsung or the carrier to do anything about it though. I do wish you well on your endeavor.

If you have the option, just try a different location to do the exchange. That doesn't look like a typical crack.
Happened to my s4, the thread is still going I think. It cracked like that in my pocket. I think it was from heat of my thigh and the cool air or something. Samsung told me I must have dropped it for that to happen. And in the end I sold it on eBay for spares and got like £200 for it.... Best of luck.

My very late, in rush butt started running without realizing that my phone fell out. I got the phone back from a stranger after multiple attempts to unlock my phone and keep it. Anyways, my friends and I, we came to conclusion that my phone was ran over by a car, face down on the asphalt. Tech21 screen protector on it has multiple holes and dents from the surface of the asphalt. Luckily enough, everything is fine but the screen, of course. It cracked every where. Every tallest bumps of the road left a crack on the screen. I can barely read but actual screen is FINE. THANK GOD!!
SOOO end of story. I ordered repair kit on eBay but I was wondering if anyone went through changing the glass on Note 4 yet? am i the first one?? T.T
Edit: it's my first time replacing the glass but I've dealt with similar stuff before. If anyone would like a video of it, I could try to record it. If I crack my screen, people could cry with me or laugh at me.

If a car ran you phone over I am very sure you have internal damage. Good luck
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Dropped my phone while riding my motorcycle. Glass cracked but the lcd and digitizer works fine. I ordered new glass online and called all the cell phone repair shops in my city. 1 person said that they have done it before so will be taking my phone this weekend to see if it can be fixed.

It would work better if you had the machine to separate the glass from the screen. I will say if the screen is badly cracked up you might have a really low success rate.
why not just buy a whole screen? they are under $200 the last time i checked on ebay. less risk and less headache.
you can even try just the glass after you replace the screen just to do it and if it works you have a back up, if not no loss.
i have a machine and hardly use it cuz how bad people break their screens today, whole screen is the safe bet.
i don't know if its the same in your area but most places charge $100-150 to replace the glass and most places don't reapply new adhesive to the digitizer and glass . so the glass is being held onto the phone by the frame only.

Like your signature says, it's a badass Note 4. I've been handling android phones since MotoDroid and I can guarantee you that there's no internal damage to Note 4. Im still a flashaholic and my phones battery life and performance hasn't been effected at all. Yay me

I agree completely. I dropped the phone on the road while riding and except the top right corner crack on screen there is no damage. Somewhat surprising because i must be atleast 30 mph and the force with which it fell, should have broken into pieces. Not even the back cover came off the phone.
I just finished after 5 hours of job. I'll post pictures when i can with my friends phone. I got b

no update?
My screen cracked while snowboarding and Repairs Universe offers a new glass/digitizer assembly for $189. I contacted Samsung and they offered to repair it for $197.77, so for an additional $8 someone will do it for you. The only downside is you'll be without a phone for about 1.5-2 weeks.
I was worried about the stuff from Repairs Universe being genuine Samsung parts (wanna make sure I get a real 1440p screen and not Chinese knock off crap that's only 720p), so I contacted them. They assured me that it is a genuine Samsung screen, but they could have been lying to me just to get a sale. For that extra $8 I'll get genuine Samsung parts and it'll be getting done properly by someone that know what they're doing.
So for anyone that needs a new screen those are two options for you.

That's good to know, thanks for sharing. Yes, I agree, I'd go directly to Samsung as well, considering price is roughly the same.
Any chance you can share the phone/email of the department at Samsung you contacted? Would be good to have that handy.

I went to their website on my phone, clicked on contact us, and did a live chat with one of their customer service people. It'll ask you to choose which product you're contacting them about (phones, TVs, appliances, etc) then what kind of phone. They'll ask for your IMEI number and all that jazz. I found them to be quite polite and helpful.
The only down side is you'll be without a phone for about 2 weeks, so make sure you have a backup phone to use or prepare yourself for terriblewithdrawal from not having your Note...
Guys the people you want to contact isn't Samsung. It's their only authorized repair service in the United States. The name is RSI found in both Plano and Hurst, Texas. Here's their website: www.repairsvc.com
Dealing with them directly should reduce your wait time.

Yes, that's the price they charge. I was letting everyone know that these are the guys that Samsung uses. They use genuine OEM parts and are the only repair center in the United States authorized to do Samsung repairs. If you look earlier in the thread, someone said that Samsung charges $197.77 with a 1.5-2 week turn around. As you just said yourself, this method would be $5 cheaper and 2x faster than going through Samsung to get the same place to repair your phone. Just was putting it out there if someone wanted 100% assurance that they were getting genuine OEM parts but didn't want to wait 1.5-2 weeks that Samsung quoted them.

Yup same reason I haven't cancelled the tmo 'jump' subscription. You do have to factor in the $10 per month subscription price though, so if you break your phone in 10 months, it's $275.
T-Mobile insurance to replace phone is $175 I just filed a claim on Saturday and got a new phone not refurbished today. The only problem is I had a Note 4 in White but they sent Gray since White was not in stock. I called T-Mobile and complained and got a $30 credit applied to my account so I really just paid $145
My unit suddenly has a crack on the left side of the screen , never dropped it or hit it
i was wearing a pretty thick pants with tight pockets , if it got damage on my pocket.. it stills counts as users fault right ?
but damn that's pretty fragile Gorilla Glass 5 , I remember dropping my Note 4 multiple times without it breaking

not being insensitive, but if it didnt have the crack when you got it, then its accidental damage. they don't cover it under warranty. warranty info is here in painful detail https://www.samsung.com/us/Legal/Phone-HSGuide/#What%20is%20covered%20and%20for%20how%20long?
only they decide if damage caused by person or a defect. under what is covered and for how long. also you can either send to samsung for repair or ubreakwefix which is associated with samsung. note 4 was a flat screen but note 8 is curved. youre looking at 175 to 230 depending on where you take it to. locations for samsung stores and ubreakwefix are all over the USA. if you want to file for a RMA repair, you can contact samsung live chat. they are open all the time. Also in the philippines https://www.samsung.com/ph/support/service-center/ hope you found this helpful
ok thanks , no RMA for me.. should have known these new devices would be fragile. since it's bezel less , my previous phone Note 4 was very durable ,
