I was just playing around trying to move apps onto my new micro sd card. I rebooted several times. But suddenly when I rebooted one more time, the screen turned black. It was supposed to reboot into recovery (CWM). So I tried to turn it on again. Nothing happened. I also tried to press power button + vol up. Nothing happened. No light when charging either. I really really really need some help

Does your phone vibrate when you press power + vol up? Can you get it into flashmode?
If your pc recognizes the phone as qhsusb_dload or something like qloader it's hard bricked and there's nothing left you can do..

No flashing LED, no vibrating, nothing.
I'm afraid to say this but it seems your phone is hard bricked... Try to do a rubber band across it so that the power button and vol up buttons get pressed all the time and plug it into your wallcharger. If that doesn't help bring it to your local sony service centre and let them repair it although they will very likely charge of a service fee.
Good luck mate!

Thank you, I will try that. It is really weird, the last thing I did was pressing the restart in recovery button.
I bricked my phone while trying to unlock bootloader (didnt wait for the command prompt to complete the process) and later my pc was recognizing it as qhsusb_dload. But my volume buttons were working and I used the Sony update service to restore it.

You should leave it for charging for a while and then check, maybe the battery is dead.

It is very possible, frequent restarts eat away alot of battery, and you never know maybe it was on while you saw a black screen thinking it was off.

Then its probably very hard bricked. You should take it to Sony and let them figure it out.

If you see a flashing blue light, when it is not plugged in, it's because the bootload was entered improperly and is in safe mode. The only way you can fix it, is to do a system wipe via Sony Companion and reinstall stock ROM. It's an Xperias way of bootlooping into a safe mode when it's locked.

Too bad Sony doesn't implement an ADB OTI. Otherwise you could flash ROMs even with factory lock and never brick it.
i am experiencing the same problem right now. hadn't touched the tablet in a couple weeks, i seem to remember turning it off because it was really low on battery and the charger wasn't near. now it is just a black rectangle.. LED never responds, charging doesn't do anything, doesn't show up on ADB or flashtool.
seems like it is some problem with the firmware or hardware since all the android devices i've owned have always charged (with the LED on) regardless of the condition of the software (hell my one x that busted open and the screen doesn't work still charges and hooks up to the computer)
i would love to get this fixed because sony tech support pretty much bent me over today.

Did you try external battery terminal dismount?
what is "external battery terminal dismount"?
Hello everybody!
I'm new in this forum, I'm also new in Android "tuning", so I don't actually know, what to do in this situation. Ok, I've read other topics about this, but every other seems lighter than my problem.
Firstofall, I wanted to apologize for my english, but I hope, you could understand me. :fingers-crossed:
So, there is an Xperia T LT30p which has been owned by my girlfriend. She donated it to her mother and so on, so long story short, one day there appeared a key and exclamation mark in a yellow triangle (if I understood it right, I really don't know) and after that it was dead. I plugged it in wall charger - nothing, no vibration, no led, nothing, then waited for some time, nothing changed. Ok, removed the back cover, tested voltage on battery - 3,83V, not so dead, I guess... Then I started to read topics in here, sounds like a hard brick, but how to solve it..? I tried to power it up, nothing (as you expected), also tried every possible key combination (power + vol up, power + vol down, vol up/vol down + USB cable) - nothing at all, no vibration, no leds, nothing on the screen. Yesterday I downloaded PC companion, downloaded Flashtool, tried to connect it to PC, of course no drivers, but got the QHSUSB_DLOAD, so I guess, it's not that dead.
Oh yes, the only way how this phone is responding somehow is when I plug in the USB cable/wall charger with removed battery, then it does one red blink and that's all, nothing else. And that doesn't matter if there is any button pressed.
The main question is - what can I try to do in this situation? Is it fully dead?
I really hope for your answers and suggestions, otherwise, I don't really know what to do with that electronic mess on the table... :fingers-crossed:
Remove the battery and press and hold power and volume up buttons simultaneously. Then plug your phone to computer.
You'll be able to flash a kernel with Fastboot mode in Flashtool that way.
If you have the kernel the phone should boot past sony logo. You may then install whatever ftf you like via Flashtool.
Btw, I have read somewhere that the computer recognizing the phone as qhusb_dload is the result of a broken motherboard. Would make most sense anyway, as the phone was not rooted or anything.
I suggest trying above steps anyway.
Good luck!
The phone is not rooted or something, just a stock Xperia...
Just tried as you said, with removed battery pressed power + vol up simultaneously + USB - nothing, I got one red blink and nothing more, computer makes that ''no driver'' sound and that's all, flashtool doesn't find my device...
No wonder about defective motherboard, but the phone is bought in the summer 13', not so old for a phone... And what could had happened with this phone in just everyday use..?
Maybe overhearing or just bad luck with the motherboard.. Sometimes there is no explanation. :/
Is your phone still under warranty ?
Well, technically yes, but warranty card is hiding somewhere, and the phone is bought in an e-shop, i'm not sure if this shop won't send me a few doors further with my phone and I don't even know if this shop still exists..

HELP! My Xperia SP is dead after unlocking bootloader with official way!
It won't turn on even when I tried to boot it up by connecting via usb to laptop.
I tried to charge it, but it's useless
I also tried to force restart it from restart button but it doesn't wake up
HELPP! :crying:
#UPDATE: By some miracle, the phone boots itself up and get working again. All apps are gone (like factory reset). It shut down about 2 hours then suddenly it came back to life. Still don't get it why this can be happening though. But thank God!

Have you tried the OFF button on the back?
You should try to connect your phone to pc, press volume button and keep it pressed. Then without releasing the volume button, press the restart button on the back until you see the led (blue or green depending on the volume you pressed). This means you have at the same time : usb + volume + reset button on the back.
You should keep it pressed during 3 to 15 seconds. If this doesn't work, put your phone to charge (on wall charger and preferably with stock charger) during 1-2 hours and try again.
Try reflash a stock ftf
Please provide more information to the things you did. Did you use EMMA or FLASHTOOL?

Edit: 12 hours later and still no signs of life, so im' doiwnloading ftf and i'm going to try flashing it...
Make sure you have the driver installed for your phone.
1. Download, install and run the driver update utility. Here's the link where you can download it.
http://www.driverscape.com/download/xperia-sp
2. If it doesn't detect your phone, download flashtool from here:
http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
Make sure you have the latest ftf image in order to flash to your phone. You can download from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311964
3. Make sure your phone is off by force shut down (clicking the OFF hard key in the back)
4. Open flashtool. Press and hold the volume down key and then connect your phone to the computer by USB.
5. The notification bar will light green indicating that it is connected in flash mode.
You can then follow instructions on how to flash through Google search. If you are able to reach step 5 and don't know how to flash, let me know.

Thanks, i know how to flash ftf, but my phone shows no signs of life, when plugged to charger, the LED doesn't light up and i can't go to flash mode aswell. So now it seems that the only thing i can do is to take my phone to repair, as it seems there is some hardware problem...
Dead Xperia SP Also
I have same situation since 21st of December.. I left my Phone on. When I was going to bed. I woke Up and saw this fuzzy blank grey screen, then I pressed the reset button at the back of the phone thinking all will be fine, But since then I've been battling with it. First, No sign of life after plugging, then a day later after I left it connected to my PC, The LED LIGHT turned red, but dead screen. About 15MINS later it goes off, Then comes up again (LED LIGHT) I've tried connecting to PC, it recognises it for about 4seconds and it disconnects automatically, I've tried practically all the method I saw on here.. Rubber band trick, leaving it to charge all night connected to wall charger / PC..All proved abortive, I have been trying to get the MAGIC green LED LIGHT (FLASHMODE) but it never works.. I took it to a repair shop (NOT SONY) He said he only deals with HARDWARE that it wasn't hardware problem, and they then went ahead to flash it.. (I'm out of warranty) STILL NO LUCK.. I'll be glad if anyone can guide me through or come up with a Plausible SOLUTION, 'cause my BREAK has been horrible since my PHONE went M.I.A..... Thank you GUYS
So, finally I'm going to pick up my repaired SP :fingers-crossed:. They thought it was a problem caused by the reset button pushed too hard, but since they've informed me they've changed whole motherboard, the problem must have been somwhere else, maybe they'll tell me where.
(And it seems that despite the fact i've unlocked the bootloader and flashed ROM on it, they will accept it as a warranty repair, because i think they weren't able to get to know that )
My XSP must really hate me. After less than a week since i've picked it up from the repair, it's dead again (everything tried - reset button, leaving it to charge, usb) with no signs of life ... I guess there must be a much bigger problem than just motherboard That means another two weeks with my old slow LG OO. I'm gonna die without it, i've maintained almost a month without it back then, but i had a tablet borrowed for a review. Now it's worse...
Maybe they should give me another XSP instead of trying to repair this one again...
have you considered about the battery?
the battery might be dead for all we know
That may be the problem, but i must also keep in mind that it had its motherboard changed a week ago. Anyway, i took it to the service again, they also said that charger may be causing it, but battery seems more logical to me as there were no problems with charging.
So i have to wait another two long weeks and then i'll know what was it...
I'll started off by saying that my bootloader is unlocked and I have flashed the Android 5.0 ROM (503b) from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/orig-development/exp-lollipop-xperia-z-t2929369
Sorry if this is a bit long but I thought it'd be best to tell you the steps leading up to the potential death of the phone.
As far as I can tell the issue doesn't stem from a software fault as I've been running the ROM solidly for 2 weeks now with no issues apart from not being able to hear a call when I accept with something plugged in the headphone jack.
I wake the phone and go to unlock it and the touchscreen is unresponsive. I have known it to take a second or two to wake up so I gave it a minute then tried again.
No response. Screen hadn't dimmed either so I suspected it had crashed.
Held the power button and the power off prompt appears along with all my previous actions unfolding beneath it. Just for good measure I decide I'll reboot the phone as I sometimes do when it starts to lag.
Powered off fine. Go to turn it on and nothing happens.
Battery was on about 20% when I turned it off so I plugged it in and tried again.
No LED light when I plug it in, still no response to any button combination. No recognition over USB either.
So I'm going to leave it plugged in overnight as I've seen it recommended by a couple of people before. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if you managed to recover the phone?

Unfortunately no. The phone is doing absolutely nothing when any key combination is pressed and i've tried plugging it in via USB and doing these in case the LED light had developed a fault. Still nothing.
So a couple days ago, my power button and volume button and even the camera button stopped working. I thought I'd bricked my phone! But once I got home, I put the charger in and the screen came on. I've been using Sony's "double tap to wake" option to use the phone.
BUT THEN, god damn battery runs out completely, I charged it and now because the power button isn't working, I can't turn the phone on.
Tried adb reboot, tried holding volume buttons, tried hard reset button under USB and microsd flap, nothing. Screen comes on when it's charging, the phone works perfectly (apart from buttons ofc)
Flashtool recognises the device when I plug it in, but I don't see any option to reboot the device since it's connected with debugging off.
Code:
01/035/2015 22:35:37 - INFO - Device disconnected
01/035/2015 22:35:56 - INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
01/035/2015 22:35:56 - INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
I haven't dropped the phone, it can't be water damage either since I'm paranoid and keep it away from water even though it's waterproof.
Help? Don't know whether to take it to Sony because I unlocked my bootloader :crying:

I'd have to boot the phone into flashmode and that requires power button and volume button...
Try to turn on Ultra stamina Mode and then turn that same mode Off.
Phone will reboot, after the reboot tell me how are your buttons.
I had the same problem this morning, never had it before. Then i thought, 99.9% of phone's problems are software related and solve themselves by a reboot or factory reset (i sell chinese smartphones for living..) and tried to reboot the phone. Power button for 8-10 secs did nothing (as expected, as buttons not working). Finally, i remembered that ultra stamina mode asks to reboot the phone. Did it and Voilá! phone is cool now
I'm still worried, but lets hope it doesnt happen again.

I think it can be some minimal adb envirtoment because USB debugging is present when Andorid is fully power up. But thats only my theory
I think your problem can be hardware related, so you should contact Sony/Your Operator for warranty repair. In my opinion unlocking bootloader does not void your warranty in this case , Sony only noticed about you may..so is worth to try .
Sony said:
Voiding the warranty
If you unlock the boot loader, you may void the warranty of your device and/or any warranty from your operator. See your device’s warranty statement for details. Additionally, due to the modified device software, Sony’s repair network will likely have to replace key components before it can properly test, repair and verify your device using our repair tools and software. Consequently, if Sony performs a warranty repair, Sony will likely charge you a significant service fee for the additional costs caused by your modification of the software.]

Yep I did spot that, but as a (broke) student I can't risk sending my phone for repair and then getting a big bill from Sony.
I will take it to a third-party repair shop in the near future.
I think they (Sony) should inform you before charging for repair and wait for agreement from your side. Call them and ask about it.
Best Regards.

Hello I am having the same problem but I do not know how to enter this command so that it will turn on my phone. Could you please show me how? I have flash tool installed and it is telling me the same status as your phone. Thanks

Yep I did spot that, but as a (broke) student I can't risk sending my phone for repair and then getting a big bill from Sony.
I will take it to a third-party repair shop in the near future.

you didn't backup your TA I guess?
btw I confirm they will need your approval before proceed with the repair out of warranty and charge you the costs, so I would try taking it to sony then if they want too much money just ask it back (you may be asked to pay just the shipping costs if they are going to send the phone somewhere for checks)

Hello, I have the same problem, But I don't know how to use the Flashtool, Could you please tell me the steps to do it .
I think this is hardware related issue, so you should be able to go back to Sony.

Found this post when googling the problem, and since my phone hadn't died yet I was able to use this method. Worked perfectly! (for now...) Thanks!
I had exactly the same problem. Also phone wasn't charging in the magnetic dock.
A factory reset worked for me but I'm worried, once it happened...
How did it work?

hi,
I am facing the same problem. I installed SDK and ran the command but I keep getting no device is found.
How did you get it to recognize the device?
Sir, you are a genius
