I've been all over these threads and this is my last try.
I just want to know if i can get rid of all the att and samsung crap on my phone thats permanently slowing it down.
I'd like root but it looks like i cant even get that.
If you go into Settings > Applications > All Applications you can actually disable most pre-installed applications without root. There's only a few that require root to freeze, but the built in capabilities should get you 80% of the way there.

This seems like a simple question, but i'm not having much luck searching.
If I root my nexus and delete some stock applications (facebook, amazon mp3, etc..) and then lose root with an OTA update will those applications get pushed back to my phone with the OTA? I am not concerned with losing the root on upgrade, I just don't want the garbage apps back.

Probably not since with the stock OTA the applications you have already installed and your preferences are kept. It's just the core OS components that are upgraded, not a full flash, if I'm not mistaken.
However, there is also the possibility that Google pushes updated versions of the applications you probably don't need and therefore you may get them back. Even if you do, though, its not like it's difficult to remove them.

Sounds like I need to maintain root access incase they push them back. Not what I was hoping for. Bummer
Hi
I'm running the latest stock Sense UI on my One. I am aware of the side effects of rooting with the One (loss of data during bootloader unlocking and no chance of getting OTA updates) but i've been able to easily increase the performance of my phone by manually disabling the bloatware apps from Settings > Apps > All. So, i was wondering if there is an app that can actually do all that automatically? That would have been really amazing. Especially after each OTA update or factory reset, these disabled apps are enabled again, so i have to spend a lot of time going through the long list of apps and disable each one manually. Does anyone know of such an app for the One? If it doesn't exist, this might be an opportunity to create a Sense-debloater app. I think it's a great idea and it'll quickly catch on especially with those who aren't into rooting or just like to keep things relatively simple.
titanium backup (menu, batch freeze)
It sounds like s dumb question... but can ATT tak eof the crap software i don't want on my phone? I think I am going to call support and ask them. Dang Dre Beats program keeps unhiding/unfreezing itself every time it has an update on the store. Its not the only... alot of apps do that ... namely the Samsung ones.
I just want the KK bloat gone. Root or Bootloader is not my main concern but having either one would solve the issue at... bloatwares.
Open the stock application manager then swipe right to show all apps. Some of them will have a "turn off" feature. The ones that don't are non-removable system apps.
No one at at&t will be able to remove apps for you.
I generally try to run a minimalist setup, with all the bloatware and unwanted apps removed on my rooted devices. I don't plan o root this s6 edge but would like to know if there is a way to remove bloatware permanently and other unwanted apps. Just ordered the phone and it is on its way so I don't have it yet but I have read some articles on bloatware being disabled but not really removed.
Yes i realize this is a verizon sub forum.
cheers
The best you could to is disable the unwanted apps. It's (I believe) equivalent to freezing apps on Titanium Backup, so it's fairly effective. To remove them, however, you are going to have to root your phone because you would need access to the system partition.
Thanks makes sense.
Go check out this thread. Post number 8 has a link to a tool that can safely disable apps without the need for root. My phone is flying now after i disabled over 100 apps.

great thanks
I have a T-Mobile Note 4 rooted & running stock MM ver 6.0.1 and I'm using the phone on the AT&T network. Would it be possible to remove the t-mobile apps that can't be un-installed or disabled via normal procedures, by using the build.prop option?
I would like to lose things like the T-mobile hot spot app and the t-mobile startup screen etc., I was wondering if any of the following lines could be altered or deleted to acheive this.
ro.build.flavor=trltetmo-user
ro.product.name=trltemo
ro.product.device=trltetmo
I know I could cause problems doing something like this witout knowing the outcome first. I've done minor stuff like changing dpi but that's about it.
Uuuummmm.....no...start up screen?....your on the fast road to a hard bricked device....there are apps to remove bloteware on the play store but you don't want to just remove any apps....if you want to change your boot logo there are apps for that also...I would stay out of your build props
