Hi, I have been using my HTC diamond toch for nearly 2 1/2 months. a few days ago, i did a rom update using Dutty's rom update. All went fine duing the update. used the phone for about 5 days nonstop, no issues at all.
But yesterday all of a sudden the phone has swtiched off by itself, now it doesn't switch on. Thought the battery might be dead so i tried charging but the enter buttton area doesnt glow and there is no sign of charging.
I switched batteries with a friend to see whether it was faulty but it is in good condition.
What do u think the issue will be ?
Thanks
Buddhi.
I have the same problem. I've just got my phone back from being repaired as the touch screen got all messed up and now it won't charge. I plug it in and the touch pad does the charge animation twice then stops. It'll randomly try to turn on but it doesn't even get to the point where the red writing apears before it turns off again.
Help?!
same problem here
Dudes.... Chill!!!!
Here's what you can all try ....
First you guys need to know that de HTC does not charge if the rom is inconplete/damaged .
And.....
If your batery is realy dead there is no initial power on the internal battery to manage the chargement.
So ... resolution.
Fist way .
If you know any one that may have an other HTC Diamond you need to swamp batteries so the good Diamond that has the internal bat ok and charge it there.
Second way . this one i did it my self .
Go to a Local ChinaMan store and buy a multimeter and a regular Universal Adapter.
Heres how it hoes ...
Use the Multimeter do figure out the polarity pin's on the battery ex: + and - .
remove / cut one of the plug's from the Universal transformer and also tag the polarity.
set the voltage to be close to 5 V - 1 Amp .
Can be 4,5v or 5.5v no sweat
Conect the cuted wire from the Univ. Adapter to the Diamond Battery respecting the polarity.
Leave it for a wile..... ( Probably up to 1 hour but chec from time to time tme battery temperature and if possible a reading on the bat voltage levels.)
Done!
Put the battery bat and boot your diamond or turn on to boot loader.
**** Attention if you don't have more than 50% of the bat charge compleated you wont be able to flash your phone****
Any questions Just reply back.
same problem...

Help, I have the same problem and my battery was fully charged before this happened. Voltage reading is 4.2V on the battery.
I also tested the power button and there is nothing wrong with it, it conducts when pushed.
Usually pluging in the charger should start it up, but it will not start.
Anyone have any solutions?
I couldn't fix mine so phones 4 u replaced it with a touch hd

I had the same exact problem two days ago.The phone was not charging while it was on,and when it was off it did that charging light animation twice and then third time the litght managed to get in the middle of the button and sudennly stopped. So here is my solution . I'v managed to charge the battery on another phone and turned my Diamond back on. While still attached to charger and power source i'v performed a soft reset (by pressing the reset button beneath the stilus) ...the phone reseted and now it's all ok.

Someone has fixed?
I have the same problem but on my samsung corby GT-i5500. I installed the clockworkmod on my mobile by rom manager and rebooted in recovery, I think i've installed a wrong version and now it does not turn on at all! what should I do? my parents will kill me if they discover that ive broke my phone
Yesterday morning I pulled the TAB from the net adapter. Immediately it beeped and turned off. Plugging it back in, the battery indicator went from 0 to 100% in 5 minutes.
Turning it back on, it died in 10-20 minutes.
Turned it back off again, fully loaded it again and played a movie on it, 50% back-light. It lasted for just 20 minutes.
I made a backup to SD, did a factory reset and charged the unit (powered off) to 100%.
Did a restore, and everything worked again.
Battery is still working at 80% after an evening of restoring apps and a night of stand-by.
What the heck happened?
perhaps one of your apps? try installing them a few at a time to see which app is causing it

I also think it's a software problem, after the problem disappeared with the factory reset.
I'm going to check slowly which program is the culprit.
I just can't imagine that a program can stress the TAB so hard it realy drains the battery.
I think it could probably be a misguidance of the android OS from a wrong setting?
I had a similar problem but not nearly as bad as yours. I had my tab unplugged for a while and checked the batter: 30%. So that was fine so I opened up dolphin and INSTANTLY the screen went really dim and said I had less than 3% battery which I did not believe.
Turning the tab off and back on the battery was now at 27%. This only happened that one time and I havent seen it agian. Must be some weird battery level reading bug.....
I have the same situation and also make a backup and factory reset amd later a restore.
That was 2 months ago and until now it works like a charme.

Power off g tab drain the batt
I have my Galaxy Tab for about 3 days ago. Charge to 100% the battery, and then, I decide power off (totally) the Tab. Hold power button, and in the pop-up window, power off the phone!!
After a 1 hour, I saw the screen message with the android icon "POWER RESET or UPLOAD MODE"....and drain totally the battery!!!
What can I do???
See the attached image.......please help me!!
Only 2 things are likely to cause this, the battery being stuffed, or the battery stats database getting corrupted. You could try the "bump charge" method and see if it resets it. (Charge fully while on from AC, unplug, turn it off, charge for an hour or so from AC, unplug, turn it on, turn it off again once booted, charge for another hour or so, unplug, turn it on).
The battery stats can be wiped from the CWM recovery if you wanted to flash that, I'm not sure where the file lives to do it manually.

Hi, just like to share my experience with you guys. I encountered the same problem as mentioned, especially the sudden request to shut down due to battery becoming 3%, although it has 50% left. I tried recharging a few times but the same thing happens, something, it will shut down at 30% battery power level. Then, one afternoon, while I was looking at my pictures (at Gallery), I saw duplication of my photos (3 times) that appeared on my gallery folder. But the key issue is I stored all these pictures (taken by camera or by transfer from PC) in the microSD card (8GB). I tried to do a deletion on the addition pictures (it showed 3, so I tried to delete 2). But to no avail, and the system keep processing even though I tried stopping it. After about 2 minutes, the promot came up, requesting me to do a shut down saying the battery level was low, although I have about 50% battery power left. So, I shut down the tab immediately and removed the microSD card. After that, I switched on the tab and it says 50% power left. But I have to make sure it is possible to utilize the tab until it drains out the battery. Finally, I managed to cross the 20% power level and the tab can still be used .
I was curious about my microSD card, thinking that it may be faulty. I used a pc to open up the content and I discovered the SD card has no problem at all, it didn't have duplication when viewed from the pc. For your information, I have installed "angry bird" onto the 8GB microSD card, I am not sure if it is causing any problem to the tab or draining power from it, because the download (from Goggle market) mentioned something about "preventing phone from sleeping - System tools". I am not sure how this is link to the duplication of the pictures in the gallery folder as well, but I am glad I have found the fault to the draining of the power by the tab.
I would suggest, before anyone proceed with the factory reset, do a check on your storage card or the apps that you have installed in your tab, try to solve the simple way and it can save us a lot of troubles .
I hope it helps............

As knightnz mentions ~ It's the Battery Stats Database being corrupt.
To repair, simply:-
Connect the Tab to it's Charging Cable and ensure the Tab is switched Off.
Next, hold the Power On Button whilst at the same time touch and hold the screen.
You will notice the battery indicator will pop up.
The Tablet will now reboot.
Everything should now return back to normal.
This procedure can also be used for a Tab that refuses to switch on.
Should I do this when the tab is off? or when it is on?
I actually tried both, but I dont see "the battery indicator pop up" as mentioned.

Actually, I missed out an important ingredient ~ The Power Cable.
You need to have the Tab connected to your charging cable as if you were charging the Tab and the Tab switched Off.
Next, hold the Power On Button whilst at the same time touch and hold the screen.
Next you will notice the battery indicator will pop up.
The Tablet will now reboot.
Everything should now return back to normal.
I'll amend my previous instructions to include the Power Cable.

This is not working for me. The battery indicator pops up, but nothing else happens. The battery indicator even does not do any animations.

Hi Beards,
Sorry to ask again, is there any way to verify that it has been solved without really draining the power to 0%? Is there any clear indication?
Thanks.

The trick is in holding the screen whilst powering up.... It bypasses the normal start-up routines, resetting any errors that would sometimes require a Factory Reset to correct.
This info was passed on to me by a Samsung representative.
Easy fix, get a replacement, thts bad hardware, shouldn't have a problem exchanging, assuming it was purchased thru an auth retailer. No sense in messing with software and having a headache over it.
Seriously, the press screen thing doesn't work at all. Eventually, I brought it to the service center to do a firmware upgrade and it is back to normal...............
New upgrade:
Baseband version: P1000DXJM2
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected]#1
Build number: FROYO.DXJM4
The funny thing is my wife has a unit that was using the same version as mine (old version, we bought them at the same authorised dealer), but she did not encounter such problem. I am just puzzled.
It did not work for me either. Is the charging cable supposed to be plugged in to the power socket or just the cable? (I tried both and neither worked)
I also did a firmware upgrade with Roto JMIv2. And I still see the problem.......Anyone having any suggestions please?
If your GALAXY Tab is running from fully charged to flat in under 20 minutes I wouldn't recommend anything other then... Sending it back to where you go it from?!
It doesnt go flat in 20mins. As a matter of fact, it lasts a couple days with my work load. Its just that when i put it in standby mode let say overnight at 80%, when i turn it on in the morning the battery will be at 50-60%. But when i restart it will go back up to 78-79%.
So im not losing battery capacity here i believe, but its annoying to have inaccurate reading, especially when i am on a trip or sth.

I can understand your predicament, I have those "moments" before. Mine just dies off and need reset to get the battery back. The unknown is always not welcomed to all since we paid so much for them.
Hi, I just got my Galaxy Note last night.
But I found some error with my phone.
If I "POWER OFF" the phone and plug in the charging cable, then it CAN'T turn on the phone when it was charging.
Even I try to PRESS or HOLD the "POWER BUTTON" for a couple of seconds.
It still CAN'T turn it on !!!!!!
And the screen just show me the "charging indicator" !!
And I try to search with the google. I found some of the threads talking about this problems with the samsung device. (but still can't get the solution)
Anyone can HELP me ??
Or......
Please help to try this......>>>
1. COMPLETELY TURN OFF POWER (NOT turn off the screen)
2. PLUG in the changing cable & charging
3. wait for the "CHARGING indicator" show on the screen
4. try to PRESS or HOLD " POWER BUTTON" to turn on the phone
can you guys turn it on or not ??
PLEASE TRY TRY if who is using SAMSUNG device (especially Galaxy Note) !! Thanks !!
I am out now so not able to test this.. but I guess it happened with me (not sure) when I was flashing my rom, my Note is turned off and it was plugged in USB and charging indicator was on... and i couldn't start the phone coz it was charging... but I really didn't give it any attention... maybe its in purpose or a bug.. but for me it was no big deal... I may try it again to confirm
Most of the Not-Wakeup problems are related to the wifi, tun off the wifi and try again that way.
it is the same with my old Streak. I think it's pretty normal
I wait for the charge battery to show up then I hold the power button for two seconds then screen goes blank and it boots.

when the big battery charge icon shows up, i can turn my device on by holding the power button for 5 seconds or so.
Has always been that for me, cant start it when its charging, dunno why its like that.
send it to samsung and reclaim a new one?
After owning a Galaxy S i9000, an S2 i9100 and now a note I can safely say this is normal behaviour for the Galaxy line, never once been able to turn any of them on properly if already being charged.

yeah me also !

Hello Pleashe help!
I have installed cm9, and for the night plug it in the charger, and now it wont turn on! It's plugged to the charger but nothing is working! Please Help! I cant turn it on! SO many thanks to helpers! Please guys!
I'll be so glad if you help me!
Have you tried a battery pull and then turned it on again? It could be a BSOD.
had the same problem (sort of) yesterday without the powercable connected, it seemed like the battery was empty while it shouldn't be, i fixed it using power+ vol up but i guess a battery pull should work aswell
sent from my LG 2X using cm9
Well i have tried for 5-10 mins to fix it, plugging it on the charger, and pulling the battery, this morning, but i can't get anything. What can be that for?
Can i revert back to stock (nVflash), or even turn it on? MUCH much thanks to everyone!
I really want to get my phone working, If someone can help me, i can give him some money in PayPal!
P.S I'm in school now, and with another phone! When I go back home i'll try what you say again! I left it in charge (from pc) and hopefully, it's because battery has drained or something! Thank you for the replies! I look forward to reply's, about how to solve this. Thanks!
had same problem this morning (left phone in charger for night).... i just disconnected phone from charger, removed battery for 10 sec, put it back - and phone is on...
only problem is that battery level was showing 999% (unknown), and after ~10-20 minutes it was 1% all the time (worked with 1% 2+ hours).. now it is charging again.. everything seems ok.
**
If it wont turn on, just remove battery, and connect it to PC while holding volume up key (or down.)... it should boot "upgrading firmware" mode... after just use smartflash and restore to stock.
hm... happend second time, when phone was on "wall" charger..
when charging from PC - no problems... when from "wall" charger - always BSOD after few hours...
anyone else have similiar problems?
I had the same as in OP during first night while it was hanging off the wall charger. It hasn't happened since, but I enabled "keep screen awake during chargin". I beleive I read somewhere here it should help with that.
Same problem here overnight charge and the phone wash dead.
After a battery pull it was ok.
It 's a bugg.
Mine survived overnight charging just fine...
And it rocks (ICS i mean).
Solution for Me
Hey i got my optimus 2x just yesterday on Starhub Singapore, and similarly, i HAD the same problem until i followed some post above about removing the battery, plug in the computer/laptop with proprietary usb cables, WHILST HOLDING THE VOLUME UP AND POWER BUTTON TOGETHER. Hold for 10 seconds at least
Nothing happened. So i didnt get the flashing menu or mode on screen
Then i put unplugged the phone, put the battery back in, and tried again, suprisingly the LG Logo came up, but now it hung there.
Removing the battery...
EDIT: I removed the battery, now working good. Hopefully this dumb sH*t wont happen again. Beautiful phone. Hope this solved everything
If not, try doing a hardreset maybe? Hold power + Volume Down Key BUT ONLY IF YOUVE TRIED THE ABOVE METHOD A FEW TIMES. cause all your data will be gone POOF
Hi Everyone,
I had this kind of problem where even after 2 hours of charging 'battery %' remained the same....
One of these things worked for me......
1. Use the battery calibrator app if ur phone is rooted for fresh clean battery stats
2. Delete some latest installed apps
3. Keep the tab switched off for few hours and after that connect it to the charger....
4. Turn off your TAB...then connect it to charger.....charging animation pops up........press power button and touch the screen simultaneously till the tab turns black and again charging icon pops up
