I filmed an 18 minute video using my CM6 N1, and the file size is 790 MB. I am trying to share it to YouTube from Gallery but I keep getting the message "You cannot upload a video larger than 1 GB". The file is smaller 1 GB though. Any thoughts?
Let me add: I tried doing the same with a 162 MB video and I get the same message. A 20 MB video doesn't complain though.
Maybe the limit is 50 or 100MB and the text is just wrong? Seems silly a bit silly, although a 1GB movie would take quite a while to upload from your phone.

Yes, well, I wanted to upload it from my university wifi connection which has 4+ Mbit upstream. Would have been much faster than from home. Sadly I forgot to bring a cable to transfer it to my office computer, so I tried doing it on-device.
The limit is most definitely 1 GB on the main web site. Could others on here with stock Froyo, other ROMs, and/or other phones confirm whether they are bumping up against the same limitation?
the app itself i believe is limited to just 20mb (agreed pretty ****ty) don't think anyone has hacked it to allow for more. you have to use the actual site to complete the upload (is that possible on 2.2? I'm not sure)
hot chix ?
i understand the university, 790Mb, and wifi bit, but are there hawt chix involved ?
lol i'm kidding man, i've uploaded larger files (100Mb or so) via wifi directly from the nexus one, but it was plugged in to power. i believe (not certain) that it polls the battery to see if it will last long enough to upload the entire file.
try it with a file about 21Mb and see if the 20Mb hypothesis is true.
dd if=/dev/zero bs=1M count=21 of=/mnt/sdcard/somefile.mp4
just an idea
It was definitely plugged into power when I tried.
Were there hot chicks involved? Depends on how much you like drag queens at least 15 of them were on stage for this video.

Hi there,
Quick question for all you fellow HD7 owners.
Have you noticed that the phone can be painfully slow loading apps / games?
General phone use is quick, but when I fire up a game or facebook / twitter I often have to wait upwards of 20 seconds before I can actually get going. Certain games, like The Harvest, seem to take forever.
I can only conclude that HTC have used the slowest SD Cards that money could buy in an effort to shave their margins.
Not that impressed.

WMPower Users have a story about that, where someone compared a HTC Trophy to the Samsung Omnia 7 (the Samsung has a SSD, not MicroSD), and the HTC loaded games 2x slower.
I'm really scared about this, I was going to buy a HD7 but knowing this, it sounds pretty bad :/
Coming from a 3gs I'm a little dissapointed by the loading speeds. I guess that's the difference between nand and SD storage.
Oh well!
This is a bit concerning but I had a Desire with Apps2SD on, with a 16GB Class 2 Micro SD Card and apps loaded up fine. I'm guessing after a few updates the speed will be faster.
I havent had that feeling, both Twitter and facebook are loading in less then 10 seconds! But sometimes I have to reboot, because it just bounce back when you try to open a hub!

The XNA programming platform has been known for slow load times, add in a SD Card and apparently it gets slower.
TonWes: Try opening a game, not an app. Twitter and Facebook are written using Silverlight most likely, not XNA.
Ok so its not an apples to apples test but bejeweled live takes 45 seconds to load to the main menu in my hd7. On a 3gs bejeweled 2 takes about 5 seconds to load. say what you will about optimisation but it would appear that HTC used some poor grade memory in this phone!
And 45 seconds to load a simple game like bejeweled! Wow!
The Trophy in that video doesn't have a removable sd card, either.. there's a large sandisk chip soldered to the motherboard.
Obviously the controller or the memory is inferior to what samsung is using in the Omnia 7.. which is a real shame.
This is making me re-think my decision to buy a HD7..
are the load times the same (bad) on the 8GB en the 16 GB ?
Hello,
Someon with HD7 can try to load the game "retro spaces" and say us the load time.
Theres is a video in youtube that compare trophy with omnia and the diferences are big
Then it will be very interesting if anyone can try the HD7 with original sdcard and with other beter card

Yea i can confirm this too.
It's ridiculous on how long it takes to load up Bejeweled. I use to own a iPhone (all versions) and the iPhone can load it up in 5-10secs (10secs for older versions of the iphones). 45 secs just to load a game like Bejeweled is insane.
I would of thought as a "entertainment phone", they could at least beef up the memory. Since the screen was a monster already, i was expecting the specs to match up to it's screen... sadly i was wrong...

Whilst there is no doubt that the iPhone will load games quicker, as will other NAND based phones (omnia 7) Im hoping that the deficit between the two will shrink over time as the tools / sdk improves.
There is no way bejeweled should take 45 seconds to load. There just isnt that much to the game. Im hoping that a few patches down the line it will be a bit better at least.
Still, I would like to see the game loading on an omnia 7, which I imagine would do it at least twice as quick.
And, I suppose I have to take heart in the face that once loads performance will be the same. Just a shame it takes so bloody long.
Takes 32 seconds on my HD7. Still not good enough, but defo Popcaps fault.
Just checked on my Omnia 7, takes 15 seconds.
Yeh took about 28 seconds on my HD7
Surely this is App related aswell.
Tetris for instance loads almost instantly.
I'm not doubting that the Omnia is probably faster, but I'm sure these slow loading times are due to the apps themselves.

Omnia FTW!
Hopefully someone can test a HD7 with a better SD card in it, that would be interesting.

Hi i got my samsung i9000 yesterday and immediatly flashed it to the cm7 mod. The battery seemed to die very quick today got about 5 hours music out of it. Also when i free memory the maximum i get is 150mb. Surely that cant be right when it has 512. Is something wrong or does that seem normal?
Thanks

There is no way to estimate if your battery usage is normal, not enough information. However 150MB free is pretty typical of all Galaxy S ROMs. CM7 actually tends to have a bit more free memory then most. You need to remember most of the memory of your phone is busy being...y'know..a phone.
Just making sure just feels abit weird after coming from an iphone 4 that had 300+ memory available.
when i read at this page.... gsmarena.com/htc_desire_c-4759.php
at the storage it has "4GB include" but the device has 90MB rom and 940MB memory...
anyone please explain that
p/s this is my first post and i'm from vietnam, sorry for my bad english.
hello all you guy :good:
Welcome to XDA
I don't exactly know how it works but you only get around 1GB of space you could actually use!

Usuasable memory..
You are right. Both the websites and the box in which the phone is shipped shows the internal memory to be 4GB. But in reality this storage space is also used to store the phone's software. So the 4GB is actually partitioned into two parts, one storing the software and another part as the actual usable memory which can be used by the user. So you get a little less than 1GB of internal memory.. around 935mb or something. To know more.. go to HTC's website.
actually its split in three parts
1 part for the OS,sense,etc
2 0.94 gb for apps
3 ~90mb for storage (media,pictures etc)

so part 1 take for 3GB??
apparently ICS+Sense 4.0+bloatware=3gb
it's like the galaxy s4, from 16gb you get ~10gb of user storage
imo this is just a marketing scheme something like internet speed ads. they say "internet speeds up to 150mbps" not 18mBps(even though it's the same thing) because ppl like big numbers ;the difference is you still have the same internet speed while with the phone the 4gb mem is a lie ....unless you format the whole internal memory and use the phone as a throwing weapon....

Hi,
I'm a bit surprised that if I add free memory and used memory from the Settings app the total is about 1.7 gb. Ain't we supposed to get 2gb? I hope sony didn't do the hdd trick (see wikipedia page on Kibibyte, I cannot post link as a junior member) and even so 2000000/1048576 = 1.907 ... where's my ram?
Under CPU-Z that show : 1.732Mb.
Your OS doesn't need RAM to function right?

yes it does but I thought it will be included in the "used memory"... if the OS takes 300 mb that's ok but why I only got 900 mb free when I kill all apps? I used to have a nexus 4 and with the same amount of memory on chip there was a *LOT* more available in the settings menu.

That 900MB figure is about the same I normally have free. Various apps and services take up about 800MB on my phone, which seems excessive but I've turned off all background stuff that I can (some Google and Xperia services just won't go away, however). The only good news is that Android will free up memory if it's needed so that 900MB is not a finite figure (at least that's what I assume).
Hmm. I generally have no more than about 300 mb free memory at any given moment. Even just a few minutes after reboot. No weird apps or excessive widgets. Do you guys really have 900 mb free? You can check your memory on the fly using Cool Tool from Google Play.
The Z3C has 2GB of RAM, don't worry. What you are missing is used by shared graphics memory. BTW: This is exactly the reason why the Z3 has 3GB of memory (instead of 2GB) for its screen resolution is full HD opposed to "only" HD on the Z3C.
Anyhow, is it really necessary to start another thread on the same topic if there already is one?

I have never had any doubts about the two gigs. But how much free memory do you have on your Z3C after a reboot and after a few hours of typical usage? My other phones with this much ram have generally had a lot more memory available at any given moment. Not that *free* memory is of any particular use in android, but I'm still curious to see whether your Z3C's are the same.

When I boot up the phone and immediatly check it shows some 800MB of free memory. About 500 to 600MB after a couple of days, fluctuating though. However, don't think these numbers have any meaning for Android keeps as much in memory as possible in order to increase responsiveness. It also depends on the Apps installed and the bloat disabled/blocked. Further, comparing it to other phones you had earlier might also be misleading since the version of Android could be a different one, hence comparing apples to apples would just not be possible.
