Yesterday I got my new MI 5 phone. I am not able to send or receive SMS messages. My service provider is Airtel India.
What could be the problem?
Thanks in advance.
Are you using the default app for sms? I tried using the google app and it was really dodgy for me. Switching back to default fixed it for me

I was able to send sms using my first sim (Jio). I recently noticed I am not able to send sms using my second sim (vodafone). Tried the hidden menu to check smsc, did refresh, still can't send sms.

I am not receiving SMS messages at times. A lot of the times when I don't receive SMS is at night for some reason but happens in the afternoon too just not as often. I use to run CM 12.1 I thought that might have been the problem so I flashed 6.0 and the problem persist. I change APN, messaging app, another factory reset, not use WIFI, change sim card, turn off enhanced LTE and still nothing.... anyone know how to fix the problem? Oh yeah, I'm on tmobile network
I have the same issue but I dont think so it is nexus. At least from my point of view. The problem is missing, delayed, broken/mixed messages from iphone users. I contact ot tmobile regarding this issue. They check everything is they couldn't find if there is any issue. I want to tell you that this is a 2nd nexus 6 i have. Problem seems to exist from iphone users. My friend when she text other people some of them aren't receiving some of her messages and she has Iphone 6s plus. She is the only one i have issue to receive messages or messages are delayed and mixed.
I don't seem to have a problem with iPhone users mostly android users especially note 4 users

I tried it. Even I tried textra and still using which didn't resolve the issue. I have problem to receive delayed/broken messages only from one person and that person has iphone 6 and it is on tmobile network. It is getting worse for her when she turn on imessage function.
I've encountered a problem with text messages with 4.1 7. When responding to a text message by switching SIM the message doesn't arrive. On my side all looks fine but my sister doesn't get the messages. I have checked the number has the land code attached. She receives only messages from SIM 2 not one. Tested texting a friend in the UK from Sweden worked fine and texting a friend using both also went well. Any idea why this is happening? Could it be an iPhone issue?

What exactly do you mean by this? Was SIM1 used previously in an iPhone? Or the intended SMS recipient (not receiving the SMS) is using an iPhone?
Sorry no. My sister has an iPhone that she sent the messages to me from to my SIM 2. As I don't have to pay for text from SIM 1 I switched to SIM 1. The text sent from SIM 1 never arrived to the iPhone. The one from SIM 2 arrived. No problems sending to friend with android phone.
Does that make it clearer?
I'm not getting any text notifications from T-Mobile phones. I'm using an unlocked, from Samsung, note 8 with a T-Mobile sim card. Verizon and AT&T done through just fine but not T-Mobile. I get the message but no text sound or preview pop up.

It seems that there is a general issue with notifications. I'm also using T-Mobile and a week ago I was not getting any notifications from facebook (the badge counter showed it but no sound/vibration/preview popup). It just started working again after some days :\
This happened to me a few days ago. Easy fix for me, went to app notification settings & found notifications disabled for the Messages app. I'm not sure how it got turned off, I know for a fact I did not turn it off.
I’m slow...
Are you all talking about texting/SMS or application notifications?
If the former, im on T-Mobile and Ive been on a couple of group texts the last couple days with people from T-Mobile att, vzw. No delays or issues, and there majority of the udsers have been iPhone contributors.
I don’t use crackbook (facebook) so cant speak on that, but overall I’ve not noticed *NOT* getting notifications from apps that i give permission to alert me.
I'm using the stock messages app and I've checked if the it had notifications turned off, it wad on. I know it's not an iPhone issue as my wife has a Samsung phone and my mother has an LG. Its only an issue worth text notifications from T-Mobile users.

I just installed a third party sms app and it's working like it should. I went back to the stock sms app and still nothing. Again, it's only T-Mobile contacts that aren't showing notifications. It makes no sense.

That is strange. I wonder if it has something to do with tmobile users that are using the advanced messaging system or the share typing indications feature. By default advanced messaging is on, I think the only way to turn it off is to turn off volte or something like that.
Not the same setup as you but I have an international unbranded N8 using a tmobile SIM & texts from tmobile users work fine for me.

I read something similar about the N8 but couldn't find the link.

Function has been broken pretty much since .120 version. RCS settings gets provisioned alright in the app, but all messages are being sent and recieved as SMS/MMS. My carrier just referres to Google, and Google only accepts feedback in the app it self. I just wanna check if more people has this problem to see if there is a Google, Carrier or Huawei problem.

(yes, tried multiple data resets of both apps)
Mine is working fine , clt-l29 .128 firmware.
Carrier Orange Romania , I use chat messages with my girlfriend , she has a Galaxy S7. Both phones have to be configured and accepted by the carrier for RCS chat messages to work. You can't use chat features with someone who doesn't have Android messages installed or the phone they are using is not accepted by the carrier( I used to have a Xiaomi Mi A1 and it didn't work) , at least in Romania .

Yes, I'm well aware of that you need both clients configured. Must be a carrier issue then.
Hello,
I flashed a different custom ROM onto my Mi 8 and now I can't send texts. The message 'Not sent. Tap to try again.' appears.
I can receive fine
It's phone related, not a SIM problem. If I swap SIMs with my old phone, the old SIM won't work on my Mi 8, whereas the Mi 8 SIM will send texts fine on my old phone.
I've tried flashing to other ROMs, but same problem.
Any ideas?

Disable Volte, that"s what did the trick with me, when u disable Volte you cant have internet whilst calling, just saying.
It was happening with all SMS apps.
yafi - turning off VOLTE worked. Thanks a lot. I wonder if there's a fix that allows you to keep VOLTE enabled though. Oh well very relieved to have SMS back, I was using my Redmi Note 3 with a cracked screen for a few days there.
