[Dash Charge] Source code officially released - OnePlus 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

It seems that OnePlus finally released Dash Charge kernel code !
OnePlus just updated his git with a huge commit !
https://github.com/OnePlusOSS/android_kernel_oneplus_msm8996/commit/38dd8d898321801498f85d84f434fa7a9de2b992

This is only half of the story:
In fact, we will release DASH as two parts: one part is kernel source code, such as GPIO; and the other is Oneplus proprietary. For the business consideration, Oneplus proprietary will be released as binary.

https://github.com/OnePlusOSS/android_kernel_oneplus_msm8996/issues/1
This means that the binary file is still needed for dash charge to work. But I think it won't be long now
In fact, many kernel devs are pissed off by OnePlus for not releasing uptodate kernel sources in general. They are waiting since 3 OTAs now: https://github.com/OnePlusOSS/android_kernel_oneplus_msm8996/issues/3

time to daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaash on cm roms and kernels
thanks man for the info lets see the magic begin now

Yes I saw that.
But it's a first step !
There is still 3 days before the end of July :fingers-crossed:

I you check the linked commit, it includes code for sRGB inside the video driver.

So Devs are now able to make Dash work on custom Roms and Kernels or is there still something missing?

Guys, Dash is uploaded, please re-sync all repositories I mentioned below, and build.
android_vendor_qcom_thulium
android_vendor_oneplus_oneplus3
android_kernel_oneplus_msm8996
android_device_qcom_sepolicy
"
Now we need just to wait for the devs to add everything in their roms/kernels

Hmm... it is my kernel actually... but according to this thread looks like it is developed by Plamb1r.
I experience weird feelings.
Anyway. 0.2.1 is ready. Alot of stability fixes applied, I hope it will not break anything.
ps: pm me for kernel support, i will not post here.

I think the only thing I haven't merged yet is controls for headphone volume boost. Other standard things are already there. Due to the unfortunate fact that we still don't have a custom recovery I haven't touched the ramdisk, so you're just flashing the actual Kernel binary (plus the device tree files that are bundled to it) through the bootloader. It's really straight forward though.
I wouldn't expect any magical battery improvements yet. Although I've made some custom patches to reduce needlessly cpu idle wakeups (don't confuse this with wakelocks, totally different things), and reducing the load average, I doubt there will be any magical enhancements. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if you get 5-10% better screen on time.
Also merged some upstream patches which gave me roughly 5-10% better Geekbench results on both single and multi threaded tests due to lower lock contention & reduced overhead.
Made sure ZRAM was properly set up too, which didn't seem to be the case by looking through the entire Google's device tree.
There's other things on my patches, but nothing groundbreaking.
Everything is in my github too. You know my approach, no bull****, so don't ask me for merge/add retarded crap.
Yeah boy just in time! (Even though I'm not using the phone right now...) XD

Asus phones after the Zenfone 2 are overpriced. Also I don't know how much a costum ROM affects stability in this phone, I'm guessing the Intel CPU doesn't help much

It very depended on kernel, i/o scheduler, governor,...
Our phone have Intel "Atom" processor, so speed and stability would not cause us worried. The thing we should pay attention is battery. Because Intel CPUs are battery hungry.

Hi,
Are you talking about 14.1 or 15.1?
If it's 14.1, why not release a build here so that people can test & give you feedback, regardless of official or unofficial status?
Also, I have been in this community for a long time but I've never come across a bug in the flash. What bug was it, which you fixed in the device trees?
