After two weeks using my brand new Mi 5, the hardware buttons (volume rocker and power button) are not clicky anymore. They're soft and mushy, without that clicking feeling they had at the beginning.
It's really disappointing!
What about yours?

Sure, why shouldn`t the buttons be usable? Worked always for Me
same, always use search button to confirm (never tried the other) and volume to navigate
that's very normal... even can use Vol+ to go up and Vol- to go down, but yeah you can use them actually you must use them, if not how could cwm navigation works?

Lol, why are you acting like you've discovered the wheel? I've always used the capacitive buttons in CWM since I first ran the program. I've heard you may be able to use the volume/power buttons but using the capacitive ones is much more convenient for me

:O Really? I never knew you could use other buttons for CMW other than vol/pwr
i never knew that!!!....always used the vol & power combo.
haha, it naturally available since OB recieved CWM... hardware button is used for service & r&d.
My biggest concern with this phone is the power button. I'm used to the power button on the side on Samsung Galaxy devices. With the power button on top, I'm afraid I won't be able to turn on the phone holding it with single hand. If you own an HTC One, can you comment on the ease of use of the power button?
It really isn't much of a problem
Incredibly easy. not noticed anything hard about it.
As the battery is non removable, is there a reset button or pinhole ? If I counted the number of times I had to remove the battery of my Evo 3D because it didn't reboot after a backup/restore or rom change (even using volume buttons+power button)...
AW: [Q] Reset button or pin hole ?
Just longpress power

Yeah phones with non-removable batteries are actually EASIER in this regard.
You just hold the power button until it shuts off, same case on Nexus 4, or even iPhone (power + home).
I am intrigued by this one also. The long press power mechanism is it implemented as software or hardware feature? If it's software then there's a possibility of a permanent brick. If hardware then great.

I am not 100% on the One, but on many others (and I would say likely the One too, I just don't know for sure) it is hardware. Just like a Computer power button. A simple circuit really.
My power and volume up buttons are starting to stick a little bit and to press them feels a little mushy. Any way to clean them to restore the click they made when being pressed? This is really frustrating...

same here with the power button... one of it's sides is down. but it doesn't look like it's stuck. I can manage to put it on the right position again easily. It's more like if's loosing the tension...
Me too. Used to have a great feeling click to it. Not sure how long it's been bad, but noticed it a week ago. At times i can't feel it might at all. On a few occasions it's got stuck for long enough to bring up the power off menu.
My volume up is perfect. My volume down isn't so clicky any more, but nothing like the power key. It seems with volume down that now I've noticed and started writing this I've fixed it by pressing repeatedly. Didn't work for power...
I've just watched to this video where she disassemble the moto x:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dweww9_RF2E
At 13:40 we can see the button mechanism. It's an ordinary plastic membrane that offers the resistance for those buttons. I think the metal buttons are just too heavy for the kind of membrane that Motorola used on this... The curious thing is that I press the power button half of the times that I should press on an ordinary smartphone, because I always wake it up with the Moto Screen stuff...
Anyway.. I don't think there is a way to fix it without sending it to repair. They will probably disassemble it, change the membrane and send it back to you. And unless they change it for a more resistant membrane, nothing will prevent the issue from appearing again...
I've only had the phone about a week but the volume rocker is mushy specially with the volume down. Another problem is with the left air trigger, after a bit of gaming and the phone warming up I have to press it hard to get it to respond ?
u can adjust the sensitivity of trigger
Forgot to mention I did; I also said it works fine until the phone heats up

my power button has been less responsive since day 1. volume buttons are solid though
My 1st ROGPHONE 2 with 8gb ram and 128gb rom has very clicky power and volume buttons. My 2nd ROGPHONE 2 with 12gb ram and 512gb rom has clicky volume buttons but mushy power button...
The click just isnt there. Haha.
I own the device for 3 months now, and the power button has gone mushy. I somehow fear, it won't work for the expected life-time of the device.
Anyway, I just found a way to enable double tap on display to wake up, so this would help for a while.

I did ask an Asus Technical Support in Indonesia. They said as long as it makes a sound its fine. Unless its totally silent when you press it then you will be having an issue.
Ans yes the double tap to wake or double tap to sleep is very useful. I also use Tiles to turn reboot/turn off my phone.
