Hardware diagnostic tool for Tab S2 - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does a hardware diagnostic tool for the Tab S2, specifically the T810, exist? A command-line tool, perhaps?
I'd like to find out if I can diagnose the problem where the WiFi suddenly stopped working and cannot be turned on again. Force-stopping the WiFi applications, wiping the cache and starting the tablet in safe mode, none of the above worked.
Trying to turn the WiFi on only results in being stuck at "Turning WiFi on...". Bluetooth seems to work, as does the rest of the tablet.

You don't need a diagnostic tool. Android has its own diagnostic logs.
Download the app syslog and it will pull every log the device has.
Logcat probably being the one you need to examine.
I suggest you examine the logs in a good editor like notepad++

Wifi issues

Anyone of you having a wifi issue not connecting after updating it to ICS with Odin?
No, you have WiFi turned on? Haven't heard of this issue.

If you don't want to root, create a desktop shortcut to the servicemode app for the "WiFi Debug Screen" activity. Then launch it and turn off 'WiFi Power Save Mode'. Note that after every reboot you will have to turn it off again. I found this fix for my Galaxy S3, but noticed it also works on my Samsung tablets too. Seems to keep them connected all the time now.

How do we put servicemode app in the desktop? I remember it we
Can put activities using another launcher. Mine is touchwiz and can't download a thing because of this wifi issues.
Turning off the power save mode didn't help... On wifi information, it state that it's connecting but cannot connect at all
I can really confirm that ics makes my wifi nuts! Just restored stock HC and I was able to connect. What could happn?

That's weird. I have upgraded two of mine to the Malaysian ICS stock ROM and had no wifi issues.
If it is trying to connect I would look at the AP side. Presume you power cycled the AP? Also, try removing security to see whether this is an issue.
Good luck.
I already tried with or without security. Stock ICS and even dannoRom can't seem to connect. I even tried above post suggestion. Been wanting ics for my tab cause it's really better than Stock AT&T HC.

That is really puzzling. Trying to see what is going on probably needs getting the logcat and analysing that. Not an easy task, though! (see google for more info on logcat).
Good luck.
Here's a logcat from my tab. dunno where to look at, someone might knowledgeable bout this. thanks in advance.

Well done getting the logcat. Hope someone who knows what to look for sees it and answers. Looking through it there are no obvious error entries around wifi activity, though.
Is yours wifi only or 3G? I see mention of gsm so thought it must be the P7300.
Mine is actually the i957 which is the AT&T 4G.

Ah.
Must be really frustrating as your thread seems to have hit a dead end.
Hope you get a resolution some time soon.
Update for my tab issue, I turn off use packet data, put to airplane mode and when I turned on wifi it suddenly connects to wifi. And even disabling airplane mode it stays connected. Pretty weird but finally it can connect to wifi.

When BT Connected, Turn on WiFi HotSpot

Hello All,
Looking for a solution to the title. Need to make my phone turn on WiFi HotSpot when it connects to the Bluetooth in my car. I tried this with Tasker and a guide I found online, but it fails and says error executing action: WiFi Tether.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
OP, I've tried to replicate the problem and it seems that the app doesn't have the proper permissions. Although all app permissions are enabled in the app settings, I think it's missing an additional permission. See screenshot below. You might want to contact support for the app to get the issue resolved.
As for a work around, it may be possible to do what you want with NFC stickers.

Yep, same thing I was getting. None of the automation apps for this particular scenario that exist on the Play Store work either. SecureSettings plugin for Tasker also will not enable WiFi Hotspot. Seems to be by design. I'm just going to go the NFC route since there is a particular spot I put my phone in the car every time. Thanks for the reply!

NFC will not turn on WiFi Tether it's an issue with the app not requesting the permission or Something with the Samsung Software. I had an LG G6 and it was working fine. The way I resolved my issue I use autoinput. Now it's working fine. see the attached:

Yes. That would be the trigger. I have that on mine because I have an android headunit that like to have connected to the internet since I run waze, pandora and some other apps that require internet.

Sounds like the same implementation I have. Thanks for the help! So I would set the profile in tasker, and then the task would be what I put in AutoInput, right?
Thanks again!

I did it backward this time. I created the task first and then I create the profile. I use the state connect to BT to trigger the profile. Also it's very important that you enable smart lock, so your car BT can disable the lock screen and autoinput can do the job. You would need to buy the full version of autoinput since the lite version won't work.

web messages & whatsapp keep timing out

Hey guys, I've searched endlessly online and can't seem to figure out what the problem is. It's not the "optimize battery settings", that's where most of the guides online start with. I've checked the data savings settings and from what I can find there is nothing wrong there either.
I keep android web messages and the whatsapp pc app open on my computer all day so I can coordinate with my guys at work.. but the pc apps keep getting disconnected. I have an odd feeling it has something to do with a wifi timeout, but I can't find any settings for it.
In order to get them to come back alive I have to unlock my phone and open either the whatsapp or android messages.
This is a very recent problem within the past week or two I would say. I don't have any app killing managers or anything like that installed either.
If anyone has any insight I'd greatly appreciate it - thank you!
I've the same problem and already tried to exclude WhatsApp from battery optimizations. I have raised the concern with the support team. I don't think it's related to Wifi connection as it gets connected as soon as WhatsApp is opened on phone. But I've never thought it this way so will try to troubleshoot more now and get back to you.
Hope someone else have a solution.

I'm using Note 9 and having the same issue for a long long time.
You may try to time how long it takes to lose connection - it should be very consistent at 30 minutes.

tried the same thing, adding whatsapp to the exclusion list, not useful.
Try these:
General Management -> Battery
Turn off "Battery life optimiser" & go to Advanced settings, turn off "App power monitor"
It works for me.
I have been facing these problem with my home-wifi and office-wifi. Everything is fine when connected to 4G, but I only have limited data usage. My device's problems started after upgrading of routers. There were other routers which gives perfectly timed notifications when connected. Have been trying to solve it by all the ways I could find on the internet. Finally, today I managed to solve the work-wifi issue temporarily with the adb command method. I cant confirm yet about my home-wifi.
I found the adb workaround in a samsung community forum. (Search in google: S9 delayed notification issue)
It is still a temporary solution and must repeat after reboot and need PC to do.
It requires setting phone to usb debug mode and connecting to it.
The adb command to send is.... adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable
If you have never used adb before, the instructions are here https://www.xda-developers.com/quickly-install-adb/
Good luck.

I tried turning off all battery optimisations at everywhere I could from inside the phone and even in performance mode too, notifications just wouldnt come in time. Now after turning deviceidle off through adb, notifications seem working even after battery optimising is turned back on.

display is black after fall - how can I backup?

hi
my phone fell down yesterday
the screen has cracks and the display is black
the touch is still working but I cant see what I'm pressing
is there a way for me to backup my data (images, contacts etc.)?
Thanks
You need to link up to your PC.
Blind navigation is very difficult but not impossible. Hopefully you already have it set to link up to your PC.
Get some screen shots of your model doing the steps you need to do and use them to help navigate the blackness.
Always redundantly backup critical data...

I think you fail to understand the extent of your issues. That's a plural too...
Try hooking it up to the PC. The Android will probably have a pop up asking you if you wish to connect. You need to punch that.
-If- it shows on the PC you're good to go...

I cant see if my android is popping up a message as the display is all back (as the title of the thread say)

You need to guess the popups position. Keep doing it until it connects.
Use a online screenshot of that model with that popup as a template and guesstimate.

Question Unable to Establish Reliable Connection to GPS Satellites

Hey Everyone,
I own an Exynos S21 Ultra, model number SM-998B/DS. I do enjoy the device, yet it has this problem with connecting to GPS satellites, which is really inconvenient and frustrating. I will need to use GPS extensively in a near future and I don't want to change my phone.
GPS Test application shows no connection to satellites. I tried all the possible solutions offered online, even factory resetting the phone, but still no luck... Though I came across an old YouTube video, which showed promise. But the codes for this Exynos processor phone are completely different, so that didn't work either. I put the link to the video.
YouTube video:
Has anybody encountered and solved this annoying issue?
I am in need of an expert's help... Thank you.
Somehow I can't believe the lack of GPS if the device is operational.
Did you do a "Clear and update" on the AGPS option with internet access enabled?

Sure, I've tried them all. I just haven't taken the phone to a technician yet.
Do you know how to access the NV Rebuild section on the S21 Ultra? I couldn't give it a go yet. I've tried different combinations of USSD codes to get to that menu for my phone, but couldn't.

I've seen this post, I tried what he'd tried but...
I read that a good amount of S22 Ultra users also have this problem but I don't think Samsung has addressed the issue in a proper manner.
Sorry to flood the thread but I really need help on this...
The problem still persists and I desperately need the GPS operational. I'm open to suggestions and any possible fixes.
Try Bluetooth GPS Output by Meowsbox.
I bought once.
I was getting the gps position on a tablet without GPS via this app from a phone with a working GPS. Perhaps it will solve your problem.
