Just got this tablet, is it possible to install Google play on it as is. Or do I have to downgrade to 5.1.2 first?

You can install Google Play on FireOS 5.1.3 but it will soon auto-update to 5.3.1 which you may ultimately regret. Suggest downgrading to 5.1.2, rooting and blocking OTA updates while you still can.
although google play seems to work better on 5.3.1 than 5.1.X

Edit: I mean 2nd gen (one with hdmi and camera)
I'm a bit confused with this. I have one on the way, but I'm concerned it will have been updated to the latest firmware. Are there downgrades available if it is locked down, or is it just not an issue with the latest firmware?

I started getting that on 2 kf hd 7" and 1 kf 8.9 that were rooted and updates disabled about 2 years ago. I was on here trying to remember how I rooted it in the first place to restore it.

Hello,
I have a Fire 5.1.1 rooted and SlimLP installed. When I look at the Amazon appstore, there are certain apps (mostly marked "Kindle Tablet Edition") that I cannot install. On Amazon it says my device is incompatible. I know I can get these apps in the Google Play store. I am wondering if there is anything I can change on my tablet that would tell Amazon that it's okay to install those apps.
Thanks
Other than changing the os back to Fire OS no.
Thanks for the response.
I would recommend just installing the Google Play Store as it has all the apps up to date. PM me if you need help doing this.

As they've got the Slim LP rom on chances are they've flashed gapps afterwards, it's in the installation post for the rom after all. And they even say "I know I can get these apps in the Google Play store." in the OP

You are completely correct, my apologies. I read these posts too quickly.
Hello,
unfortunately, Fire HD 2016 cannot be rooted yet, so the question is: can I block the update in my router by adding specific domains? Is there a reliable way to do so? I have installed Playstore and Novalauncher, and fear that Amazon might disable these with future updates

Amazon will usually remove lock screen ads and other promotional annoyances without charge if you complain. Alternatively, you can downgrade to FireOS 5.4.0.0 and use the debloat script. I recommend the former route as it is easy and doesn't maroon the device on a backlevel FireOS build.
How would you downgrade to 5.4.0.0? From what I have been reading 5.6 cant be downgraded..? I really just want to get rid of the bloatware...
Thanks!

I successfully downgraded from 5.6.0.0 to 5.4.0.0 and could remove the bloatware with the removal tool from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/general/amazon-fire-utility-tool-bloat-removal-t3641151
How do I restore OTA updates on my Fire HD tablet 11th generation. I used the Fire Toolkit v. 19 to add Google Play services and chose to stop OTA updates. I'm worried that my tablet won't add important updates when needed. So how do I restore OTA updates? Should I? What is the downside?
