Hey guys,
I wonder if anyone flashed a rom made for Nexus 5 on our mi3
both the devices share same specifications..
They are same in hardware..Qualcomm snapdragon 800
Same gpu
Same screen resolution:good:
I thought of trying it..before doing it , I thought it would be safe to ask someone if they've tried and failed
It's like saying apple and orange is the same because they are fruits.
Even if the SoC and screen res is the same, the rest of the board doesn't necessarily turns out to be the same.
My advice; Don't.
Nexus5 and Mi3 are two different beasts, with different board, hardware, and software....
...even if both had the same SoC.
Ok,thanks

Hi all,
I wonder if there is any possibility to change the prosessor of the X2 for a faster one. If there is somewhere a processor that has the same pin-layout, same size than the one on the x2, then why wouldn't it be possible to unsolder it and swap to an faster one..?
Sorry if this question is stupid, but i have no idea about mobilephone processors... On computers you can swap processors if they fit in the socket, and consume the same amount of power etc..
I'm not so much more a mobilephone processor expert but I doubt it's that easy. In mobilephones those components have to work together I guess. That means some hardware probably needs that qualcomm to work.
Also, I could imagine theres a problem with the heat of faster processor - or is that nonsense?

It's a great question; I also wish it were possible. But mobile phone processors have various complexities such as a separate processor for various functions like phone or graphics. The only possibility would be to go from one Qualcomm to another, but even then, aren't mobile phone processors tiny? The soldering itself might be close to impossible.

If it would just be the case of soldering, then i'll find someone who would do the job for me Afcourse the aspect of heat etc could be an issue..
Any other thoughts from anyone who knows about these kind of processors?
If the CPU itself is pin compatible, the issue is only the soldering. Mostly.

Sounds great! Now is there anyone who knows if there is a processor that would fit in the same pin-layout as the current x2-processor? For example the Qualcomms Snapdragon-processor?
unlikely that its even the same size let alone the same number of pins.. and even if it was of identical size and layout then theres the voltages to consider. i doubt the x2 was constructed by hand. quite often chips are placed and soldered by machine. would require an expert of considerable skill to remove and then solder in a new chip perfectly.
finally theres the problem of finding a processor to put in.... not like you can buy them in pcworld! if you wanted a snapdragon cpu you would have to buy a snapdragon phone to use as a donor. very expensive way to upgrade a phone.
Ur going to kill ur phone mate, u must be ridicusly precise if u decide to do that . .
Not possible! .. this is not a desktop! (or a laptop) with an changeble socket
apart from the soldering out a smd cpu with tons of legs then
if the new faster cpu didn't use 100% the same wm driver it would require a new rom and the the device would not work with any rom but the one custom made for the newer cpu
Hi, i think this thread will be kinda annoying cause i have many things i need to know if possible.
1. Is there any chance to find out, if they will use the new gen Amoled screens, or the old ones like on the moto X? (S4/Note 3 terrible!)
http://i.imgur.com/a8GpuZd.jpg
2. They say its an IMX 214 sensor, this is better then the one on the G2 , and equal to G3 if i'm not mistaken, so knowing now devs will have access to the camera, and the mods will make this camera flawless, because of the much higher ISP compared to the S800 G2 lets say (combined with mods ofc if stock camera blows) ? i think hardware being amazing, the mods will make this camera alot better is this correct or i'm missing something?
3. Does the gpu, make S805 phones really faster? i mean i know it should push resolution easier, but other then that, does Android as a OS, benefit much from the gpu acceleration? maybe L will have bigger benefits?
4. Would it be possible (with mods/ or even stock sofware) to alter> lower the amps from turbo charging, maybe even turn this feature off? i do not want my phone to be charged at 2A, this will degrade battery life much faster.
5. What do you guys think, about the blue vs white versions, i heard in the past there was not only the color difference, but some other changes in the designs of black vs white Nexus 5, can anyone tell me what was the difference cause i cant recall?
6. Where there some display calibration tool for, S4/Note 4 or even newer models to decease the saturation and make the screen look more balanced/realistic/better? i'm very sensitive to this, and i don't really like Amoleds, so i'm looking for a solution, or at least make it a bit better so i can live with it.
7. When will this phone be available for orders (playstore in EU) i'm not sure what is the date on this.
8. Is it true that Motorola has amazing recpetion/call quality? or this is tight up to the chip it self, (S805 same for all phones who use this chip) would using bad signal LTE networks still drain the battery like mad similar like on S800, or the improvements on the S805 will make this issue go away?
Thanks and sorry for many questions!
Anyone?

1. We can't know until the phone has been reviewed.
2. It's one of the best Sony sensors available and it's capable of taking great shots. It all depends on how Google decides to implement the camera software. If they handle it perfectly it'll be able to take some of the most amazing photo's of any android device.
3. It might not make it faster swiping your home screen. But it prevents actual stutters that you might have gotten with a slower SOC. Not to mention it'll handle task faster which means it'll lower it's frequency, which again results in better battery life.
4. Possible. It's been done before on previous Nexus models.
5. We can't actually know what the difference is on the Nexus 6 until it's been reviewed. The Nexus 5 had a different ear piece color matching it's back cover. The white and black version also had a different rim with the black one being matte like the back cover, and the white one being glossy black. The white cover also felt different. More plasticy rather than matte.
6. There could or could not be a way to calibrate the screen. It was possible on the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 5.
7. Has not been announced. But it will most likely vary from country to country.
8. Motorola uses some of the best radios in their phone. It's highly likely that they'll use these in the Nexus 6. From my understanding the Snapdragon 805 doesn't have an incorporated radio so a separate one is required. No need to worry about this, Motorola has got you covered. Also not to forget, the metal frame also boosts reception so it'll be one of the best phones when it comes to that.
Аwesome, thanks alot!
I am about to buy a new phone, to have at least 2-3 years and i want it to be future proof.
I have to choose between MI5 and NOTE 3 PRO.
The price difference is 70$. Does it worth the extra bucks?
Which one of this devices has better development ? I am really intrested to have a good dev support (lineage, ressurection, nitrogen, xenon and kernels)
Which one should i chose? Which one is more resitent ?
Same company but different commercial line (of product): high-end and medium-low-end; with different hardware "particles" inside and different screen sizes and different weights...
Advice: If you are going for the lowest model of the high-end and comparing that with the highest model of the medium-low-end ... you are not doing a good job in the decision-making process.
The MI company is famous for the MIUI (their rom) and .... are expanding around the world but, for now, they have a presence in their motherland and in the asian market (mostly India); the rest are resellers.
So you should consider, for the final decision, the nation in wich will operate your device.
And if you really want (it's the first item in your wish/need list) a "dev supported device" maybe the MI company is not the best one for you.

I am talking about xda devs software support and i saw it has Lineage official. How it is compared to NOTE 3 PRO?
And the difference between them is only 70$..
So do you think it worths the extra bucks?
Does mi5 have construction problems or heating/throtthling specific for sd820?
Mi5

Go for the Mi5, it's lighter thinner and the GPU is a lot better.
It's been my main phone for a year now and hasn't let me down once.
And lot's of support for it, LineageOS 14.1 is running great.
The Note 3 pro does have a lot longer battery life thanks to the 4000mah battery vs 3000mah and the SD625 is more energy efficient.
I usually recommend the Note 3 to 9/10 people, since battery life > games.
Although it will run all games just fine, i doubt you can run Google Daydream on it like i am on my Mi5.
As for overheating and build quality neither of them have any problems whatsoever, the SD820 doesn't have the problems the SD830 had.

The Redmi Note 3 is more popular and has better development. But that doesn't mean development for the Mi 5 is bad. And since almost all ROMs are AOSP or CM based these days, the scene is pretty much the same between the two. It's the better phone. If you have the money, the choice is simple really. It's camera, display and performance is excellent, and development is good. It's got Gorilla Glass 4 as well, which is a bonus. Battery life is okay, so if that's a concern you might be better of with the Note 3.
Hi,
I am thinking about buying some LeEco phone, as I see it can be bought for quite good price around 110-130$ (however I probably need to add 20% tax when it arrives to my country in EU).
Which one would you recommend and why? And where to get it for the best price?
So far I saw X626 for around 110$ on Aliexpress (or slightly more on some eshops like Tomtop) with 4 GB RAM and Mediatek CPU, or X520 for 120$ on Tomtop with just 3 GB RAM and Snapdragon 652.
X626 looks like better pefrormance/price option, but it seems that X520 has lower battery drain and there are alternative ROMs available for it.
The rest of specs is the same (camera, QuickCharge 3.0 etc)?
I am a bit confused with the camera performance - some reviews say it is quite good, but others say it makes blurry and washed out photos. What is your experience?
Is there any chance how to get LTE on 800/900 MHz working with any of those, or only internetional version X527 can do that (which is probably not available for such low price)? Any chance that some of them will get Android 7/8?
Hardware wise it's a good device for the price. Be aware however that there isn't any support from the company. If you buy this phone, you are committing to diving into rooting, flashing ROM's, flashing recoveries, and all sorts of fiddling with the device to get it to do what you want
emkorial: Yes, I have no problem with performing rooting and flashing ROM. However you didn't answer my questions on X626 vs X520, camera performance etc.
Even more confusing is the fact that some sellers on Aliexpress are offering Le 3 X626 with 21 Mpx camera...is it any special version with Sony camera module instead of Omnivision ?
Better u do not buy Leeco as there is no support.
So best optiion to buy any other MI phone
Not a good buy now
Once upon a time, LeEco was in a good position to defeat Xiaomi with its budget offerings. But now, with the company's future becoming a question mard, it wouldn't be wise to buy a device from it. The existing devices has stopped receiving OS updates. There are a lot of other good alternatives to consider
I shot the x820 6g 64gb 6 month ago. It's a great Phone! The FP ist ****ed up but i do not need it... And after the next bigger issue i will change to a custom Rom (Lineage). I had two xiaomis before and i think that MIUI is nice, but the Updates are never perfect and it comes anytime to some new Bugs. I think the x720 ist very interesting too. And There are some new Models on the Market in the Close future (x850..). The Hardware of leeco is much better for the Same Money..Look at kimovil for less Money Check the x522.
Heya XDA,
The Red Magic 3 is going to be my first Nubia device, but I was curious as to the difficulty of potentially flashing this to a OP7, given that the hardware is similar & OP released its source.
Obviously things like LED & fan controls are iffy, but with the larger battery, 90hz display, and the headphone jack, it's got everything I care about in a phone, and I think the potential for a cheaper OnePlus alternative is massive.
I've got almost no coding experience, but heck, I'd give it a try.
This Device looks indeed nice since i'm someone who would never buy a OP... But the Hardware here is Yummy!
Didn't try it but there ROM is not compatible i think.

Very highly unlikely that it will work, I would say a resounding no. Treble perhaps but not an actual ROM.
