it happened on china stable and now on global stable also

I don't experience any problems with my Xiaomi Tempered glass.

Works fine with "Tempered glass pro". It costs 5$

i realize that it is not a common problem, i just wanted to know if those who experienced it, found a solution

i have the same issue with my mi5. Tried 3 vendors including nillkin. non worked for me. will try a plastic foil.
i'm on lineage os.

I had the same problem and i don't know why but disabling vibration solved this. I'm on global dev 6.11.10

I got the phone recently, put the tempered glass and i experienced that problem. Then I flash the global stable 8.1.2.0 rom and the problem has gone.

It depends on the type of panel that is used in yo rr device. I wouldn't call that "uncommon".
Take a look: https://forum.xda-developers.com/search/thread/3501971?query=Capacitive%20Buttons
Most recent lineageOS version should be a bit better, but your milage may vary.

My brother's phone also cannot use any tempered glass... I hope somenoe find a solution to this

I had the same issue on the Global Stable ROM. I used the updater up to upgrade to the Global Beta ROM, and now they work fine.

Screen goes black when you make a call on 5.1, try this.

I'm not a screen protector salesman, nor do I have stock in one. This worked for me, but your milage may vary.
I updated to 5.1 yesterday and since then, every single time I made a call my screen would go black and become unresponsive. When the person at the other end hung up, it would eventually come back. I figured it was the rom and/or kernel. I tried as many rom, kernels and combinations as I could and nothing. I eventually found a thread sharing that the sensor became more sensitive in the upgrade and even if you never had an issue in 5.0, your screen protector is probably the issue. I thought no way, I paid like $20, really liked the protection and it never caused an issue, it was a tempered glass protector and clear as day, but I was desperate.
The second I took it off and pressed enter on a call, no black screen. I could actually make a call, cover the sensor with my protector and the screen went black.
I know it sucks, i really didn't want to change my protector, but I could not use the phone the way it was.

which screen protector? if it's not properly cut or is an old plastic type protector that's probably the problem. The good properly cut tempered glass screen protectors don't seem to have this issue.
Same problem here, but worse.
When the screen went black during the call, the phone shut down, and has been misbehaving ever since, I've still not been able to unlock it fully. I suspect the Device Protection feature of 5.1 (anti-theft) to be the cause of the problem...

I used Skinomi Tech Tempered Glass ultra thin, it was rated well. It did cover the sensor, but like I said, never had an issue on 5.0 and and once I took it off, worked like a charm. You have a suggestion for a good tempered glass protector?

Dang man, that's way past my "take the screen protector off" fix. I'm thinking you have a more complex issue. Were you unlocked and rooted? Custom rom or kernel? The allow oem unlock checked in dev settings? Can you do a full wipe and step through the flash process in fastboot?
Completely stock. I found a workaround. Remove the SIM card before powering-up. This time I am first asked to draw my unlock pattern, as it is supposed to do. Then, let the phone boot to my homescreen and then only I replace the SIM card. I am asked for my PIN et voilà.
I think the new anti-theft feature is indeed at fault. It is somehow overridden by the PIN request. Oh well, at least my phone works now

Regarding the screen proximity sensor problem.
Do you think a deliberately smaller tempered glass screen protector would work?
http://www.amazon.com/Orzly®-Tempered-Protective-Protector-SmartPhone/dp/B00ORYY4IO
Where is the sensor located on the screen? Between the camera and top speaker?
I've been using a Zagg GSP with the same problems... So far removing it has been my only fix. Didn't have problems before 5.1 even with some haloing!
I think the proximity sensor is to the left of the top speaker. If you hold the phone just right in the light you can see two little dots under the glass.

You should call Zagg at 18007009244 . I just called and they said that it was the first reported case, and that if enough people called in, they would investigate. They also said that you can remove the existing screen protector, use some other one, and just get a warranty replacement if/when a new Zagg GSP comes out.
Xtremeguard fixed this issue in their spartan glass. They also fixed the "halo-ing" issue many protectors have. They made cutouts for the camera and sensors. I'll post pics once I get home. I encountered OPs glitch with the original spartan glass I had (1st gen?).

Hey man, as I suggested, try xtremeguard. Here are some pics and they have cutouts for the camera and sensors. They usually have sales; don't buy it regular price, its ridiculous! Here's a code I found that works if you purchase two items: Spring90
Or if you want just one, use 75off
I just use their glass protectors on all my devices and I've had good experiences with them. They now ship their glass in a hard plastic case; less chances of breaking. Pictures attached!
Is this issue really just limited to people with screen protectors? I have the Zagg HDX and am having this same problem. I really don't want to replace my screen protector and don't want to have to go back to a non 5.1 ROM. Unfortunately I do spend a lot of time making phone calls at work and need to dial extensions which I'm unable to do because of this.
Are there any kind of Kernel modifications or system settings that can be adjusted to fix the issue?

Yes it really is. I had the problem on my Nexus 4 with a protector so I made sure to buy a protector with cutouts on my Nexus 5. I thought they would have fixed it on the Nexus 6, although it is still very sensitive. I had the problem with a full glass protector and my screen would stay off during a call even after using the power button. So I emailed xtremeguard and fortunately they modified their guard to have cutouts for the sensors as you can see in the pics I posted on the last page.
Same behavior with Skinomi tempered glass protector. Took it off and the phone works fine.

There was some talk about an issue with the sensors and 5.1 causing the issue also, but it seemed it was a small minority that had this issue. As far as I know, you have to bite the bullet and peel off the protector. I tried 3 different kernels and 3 different roms and nothing at all worked. The good news is they have plenty of cheap alternatives that have the cut-outs. Good luck.

Skinomi is aware of the issue. I wasn't sure what was causing it until i found this thread. Removed my protector and problem was fixed. It looks like Skinomi is aware of the issue though, contacted them and got a replacement since i had removed my glass protector. The replacement glass no longer covers the sensor.
No need to remove your screen protector. Just head to Accessibility--> Turn on 'Power Button ends call' and Boom!
I too had the same problem just after upgrading to 5.1
Tried this and it works like a charm. No issues till now. I hear that 5.1 messed the sensitivity of the proximity sensors. But lucky enough for us, 5.1.1 has a patch to fix this issue. Till you get an update for 5.1.1 just keep enabled Power Button ends call, and you'll be just fine. No need to spoil your completely alright $20 screen protector
Thanks!
The only thing that worked for me !
Hi,
I empathize with you. I found myself buying a Nexus 5 in India in 2013 with a lot of excitement and the same happened after upgrading to lollipop and then marshmallow. I removed am imported tempered glass screen protector and that didn't work. Next, I downgraded to KitKat 4.4.4 and that didn't work. Google's product forum was a waste of time. Their rep said the same things: remove the screen protector, clear cache and finally do a factory data reset. I'm not from a technical background and after saying prayers which I said only in my childhood, the below is what finally what worked for me:
1) Downgraded to KitKat 4.4.4. I have a MacBook so used this YouTube link:
https://youtu.be/pzzDxrccZO8
2) Rooted my device using King root. Link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461
2) Installed Xposed framework. Link:
http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer
3) Disabled the proximity sensor from Xposed framework. This YouTube link helped:
https://youtu.be/hPRujBMeuz0
Hallelujah ! I can see my screen again when making calls. Like I said, I'm from a human resources background and literally prayed like Armageddon had just started before doing all the above. I can't guarantee if these will brick your phone or put it in some perpetual bootloop mode, so do it at your own risk ! Started believing strongly in God but disbelieving in Android after this whole bloody experience.
Cheers !:good:

Note 10 screen question

Is it correct that you can't use a glass screen protector with the new fingerprint sensor under the screen?
Have look here

There is tempered glass for the S10 so will be same for type protectors for the Note 10
Only reason I asked was that the first one I found on Amazon said it didn't work with note 10?

whitestone are expensive and looking at that thread easily break so maybe been thinner for the finger scanner . We should start to see more soon
So got the Whitestone one eventually - complete dud! Despite the price and the promises (and all those Youtube reviews - paid for??) the fingerprint sensor doesn't work.
Interestingly now I've looked at Amazon 50% are 5 star and 50% are one star in the reviews.
I don't understand why it works or doesn't. And yes I followed the instructions to the letter, reprogrammed fingerprints and switched on screen protector setting.
Anybody got one that works yet?
Some high quality tempered glass screen protectors for the Note 10 can work with the ultra sonic fingerprint scanner. The Olixar one seems to work

Have you used it yourself? Seems quite an obvious mark where the fingerprint sensor is - even the commentary mentions a rainbow effect - anybody tried this one?
Or what about the Alinsea Screen Protector? My first one failed with the fingerprint scanner as well but they are sending a newer model with different liquid?
Anybody?
Different liquid, same result. Total Fail
Anybody tried the above mentioned Olixar?

tempered glass screen protector?

Hi guys, i have been looking on amazon and i cant seem to find a tempered glass screen protector, anyone know where to buy it?
Look here:

I bought the Asling from gearbest but it has a "hole" in the finger sensor part, it has glue there which can be seen when you use the phone.
Is there any other good screen protector? I'd prefer with a selfie camera hole to not have flare on certain angles.

I used a tempered glass for 1 day and removed it again (from Gearbest https://www.gearbest.com/screen-protectors/pp_009176272936.html?wid=1433363 They simply deleted my 3-Star-Review). It also had that glue at the fingerprint position, which was very annoying.
Besides that I noticed that touch sensitivity is not that good with the tempered glass. For fingerprint unlock you had to press very hard/deep to get the fingerprint recognized.
I also tried to increase touch sensitivity with a trick I found online (Settings - Additional Settings - Languages & input - Keyboard, mouse, and track pad - Pointer speed: Increase Pointer speed for more sensitivity) but it didn't help at all.
Does anyone know a good tempered glass with curved edges, without the fingerprint glue and supporting nearly the original touch sensitivity?

its hard to expect good TG for this kind of curving phone. I think hydrogel is a safer and better option. Not to mention it's cheap. (USD 1.2)
There are lots of problems with the proximity sensor, with or without screen protectors, don't worry. Should be fixed with an update
I got a Mocolo UV tempered glass screen protector on my Mi Note 10. In-screen fingerprint sensor works perfectly. Bought from Swedish online store. Can't seen to find it anywhere else right now.. so perhaps not to helpful.

Question mi 11 touch sensitivity and ui issues

Recently bought Mi 11 phone.. I am encountering major issues on the touch sensitivity of the screen and also the Notification UI has issues..
The Messages and Messenger "quick ball" UI also has problems. Am I the only one experiencing these issues? Can the

The Messages and Messenger "quick ball" UI also has problems. Am I the only one experiencing these issues? Can the
MIUI 12.5 update fix these issues? i'm getting frustrated right now, having to buy an over-rated phone with very noticeable issues.

Touch sensitivity, especially fingerprint sensitivity is the first of two major disappointment of this phone for me. The second is poor battery life.

I notice this issues on my phone, do you think it's due to the plastic protection on the screen ?

Is it possible to remove this plastic protection and replace it with a tempered glass protection? If so, how to remove it without damaging the screen?

Yes, you can remove it, is a simple tpu screen protector. Idk if there is a tempered glass due to curve screen

Be careful with curved tempered glass screen protectors. Sooner or later turns out that are all rubbish, empty space between screen and protector appears because of rigidness and tension. Nillkin is a trustworthy brand but anyway. Some users reported that they had success with uv implemented glasses.
There is no need to keep the original protector, there are many better folio type in the market.

Can you link a good screen protector?
I bought a Mi 11 to replace my OnePlus 5 and there are a few things that are making crazy compared to OP5:
- Fingerprint sensor fails too many times, this is really bad
- I bought a tempered galss but the fingerprint sensor did not work with it...
- Touch sensitivity with thick gloves is just impossible, the same gloves worked with my old OP5...
- Touch buttons that hide some times and is very arde to make them shows up
Mi 11 have many great features that I love, but having this issues, sometimes make me want to get my 4 years old OnePlus 5.

Does any one got ghost touch in some conditions?
This past weekend I went to a forest that was full of Pine tree dust and my screen was having random ghost touches.
Also does anyone tried some tempered glass screen protector and check if fingerprint still works?

Yeah I do... i read somewhere that the UI issues were due to incompatibilities of android 11 to MIUI.. i hope the MIUI update this April can solve all these issues..
