Browse nearby devices.. Tab S2 - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Glaring omission from Samsung with the device.
Share Media (Dlna)
No option to browse Dlna (nearby devices) in both music and gallery app.. Are their any ports floating about where this functionality can be re added?

[Q] PC Share Manager - SGT Allshare streaming video help

Hi, I have the SGT P1000 and the Samsung Galaxy S (Vibrant). Also have the Blu-Ray player C5500 and PC Share Manager installed on WinXP.
I can:
Use Allshare from the GTab to stream video to my TV (via Blu Ray Player)
Use PCSM to stream video from PC to TV
Use PCSM to stream video from PC to Galaxy S (via Allshare)
Use Allshare to stream video from Galaxy S to Galaxy Tab
So it all seems to be working fine. What I cannot do is stream video via PCSM from PC to my Galaxy Tab using Allshare. It seems the Galaxy Tab has a diff version of Allshare than what the Galaxy S has
I can connect fine -- Choose PCSM as server, and "my device" as player on the Galaxy tab. It connects, but on the next screen -- no files are available to view. No video, Photos, or Music shows up.
Is this a known problem for Allshare Galaxy Tab version? I've searched the threads but haven't seen a similar issue.
Many thanks for any help provided!

[Q] AllShare streaming to TV

Hi all!
I already have a DLNA compatible Philips TV and I run 2 differnen DLNA server apps on my Win 7 PC, Windows Media Player 12 and TVersity. That way I can browse and play almost all my movies on my PC from the TV interface.
Now I just got my first Galaxy S.
Used, with stock Android 2.2. First thing, I rooted it and prepare to install CM 10.1.
But before removing stock I want to learn how DLNA works on the phone.
I took some photos and videos that I want to stream to the TV.
The stock AllShare would sometimes display my TV as selectable target, sometimes not.
When I could select the TV I could always stream photos to the TV but only sometimes videos.
The same happened with Skifta.
I will also test some other DLNA players such as MediaHouse, iMediaShare, Beam, BubbleUp.
But so far my results seem unpredicatable and unreliable.
I searched the web and XDA but found very little.
Can somebody share their experiences of streaming media from Galaxy S ot a TV?
Working configurations?
Would somebody have an install apk to AllShare?
The Samsung support pages recommend installing their AllShare server software. Is that important? MWP and Tversity should be compatible, or maybe not?

AFAIK AllShare isnt supported by CyanogenMod... AllShare works only on Stock Gingerbread Roms with the standard framework.
You have to use apps like imediashare or something. The Streaming works very well with stock... The only problems are the free apps which are provided in the market in my opinion. the most of them have a really annoying UI but it works. music, photos are working fine. for videos i cant say anything since i didnt try to stream movies.

DLNA Folder selection

Hi,
Android 4.1 seems to Have it's own DLNA support. But with Samsung allshare it was similar.
There are only options to select which type of files I want to make available. But how can I select the folders where it should search for media files? Like the files of Kiescast. None is available over DLNA.

New app: play Google Music to UPnP/DLNA devices with the Google Play Music app

I just released a new Chromecast related app, that let you stream your cloud Google Music uploaded by yourself and from the All Access subscription (including Radio) to any UPnP / DLNA device: XBMC, DLNA TVs, PCs, WDTV Live, Xbox 360, Sonos, Android, various hifi gear from Denon, Pioneer, Onkyo, and many many more.
The app is named "Cast To UPnP/DLNA for GMusic" and you can find all the details and a video in this Google+ post
Really great app. Great execution.
would this be possible with youtube as well?
Does not work anymore with new Google Music App...

Apps that use the smart cover view

Here's a thread you guys can post apps you found that show info on the smart cover.
I'm not too sure how the smart cover works with apps if it uses notifications or what would be on the lock screen for currently running apps.
Apart from weather and inbuilt music player I found the Digitally Imported streaming music app works with track info and on cover buttons to pause and change stream.
Would like to find some email app that shows info and other useful things.
So if you come across anything cool that uses the smart cover window please post it here.
VLC Player works as the inbuilt music player. It can be controlled through the smart cover.
I didn't find anything else. Is there a specific library that can be used by developpers and given by Huawei ?
I have a feeling anything that uses the oficial android media controls di.fm player / vlc / android music etc will work with media controls but thats about it.
I don't think there are any more screens or widgets accessible which is a shame.
As for a library is a shame as Huawei isn't as popular as Samsung etc and don't know if there other phones that has s view share the same framework.
