Kernel with loop device support for T810 - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The title pretty much says what I'm looking for.
I found this unanswered thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/help/kernel-rom-supports-loop-devices-t3457996
If there is none, is there a current tutorial on how to compile a kernel for the T810? My T810 is rooted (SuperSU update.zip), will I loose root if I flash a stock kernel?

Iptables/netfilter on an ADP1 firmware?

Is there a way to make this available (the kernel module) w/o installing a custom firmware?

just recompile the kernel from android source
Thanks.
Do you know any tutorials to get started?
Hi!
I've compiled a kernel (with enabled netfilter-support) which is suitable for the OFFICIAL ADP 1.6 firmware published by HTC.
It's based on the original kernel-config (plus netfilter/iptables)!
Available here:
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/wiki/ADP16KernelUpdate
Don't install this kernel on any CUSTOM rom!
.
Would you care to list the steps you've taken to compile this kernel?

[Q] CIFS support in gingerbread kernel?

Hi guys, today tried access my pc shares by sgs, and it looks like my current kernel doesnt have cifs module (cf 3.2).
My question, is there any kernel for jvh with cifs support available? or can I add cifs module to current kernel, if yes how?

Try this kernel module: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12997697&postcount=123 (also linked in one of the first posts in chainfire's thread, IIRC).
thanks. it worked.
slow-work.ko + cifs.ko for JVZ (2.3.6)?
about five days ago, i flashed stock JVZ firmware to my SGS. so far, my experience has been excellent: smooooth(!!!), quicker browser, no battery drain, stable.
rooted it with CF root 4.3, works fine.
i just need new CIFS kernel modules - anyone know where to get compatible slow-work.ko and cifs.ko?
i am aware of this post/thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761414. they used to work on my previous JVP firmware, but none of the modules shown there can be loaded in JVZ. insmod slow-work.ko always returns "exec format error".
or, if anyone cares to explain to a non-developer (but a power-user) how to compile them myself...in plain ENGLISH please ;-)...i'll make some and post them here. sorry, all the threads i have found here so far regarding self-compiling kernel modules assume reasonable pre-requisite knowledge, which i dont have... :-(
thanks in advance!
Do you have any progress with the issue, damazta? I have same problem: slow-work.ko + cifs.ko for XWJVZ (2.3.6) on SGS. No compiled modules for the params.
thanks already.
Yes there is. I am using alliance rom's base release jw6 right now.
It is very close to stock samsung FW, runs super smooth, fast and stable AND includes a pre-compiled cifs.ko module, which works like a charm!
Highly recommended. Great forum over there with idiot-proof installation instructions. Go for it!

missing piece in compiling a flashable kernel for Galaxy Tab

I am able to compile Kernel from source and re-use initramfs extracted from CF, Overcome and stock rom. But still it hangs when I flash.
I think I need to regenerate the /res/keys in the initramfs but I can't find details though I have read through most of the Development forum related here. I even search for some source posted to Github.
I don't want to patch the boot loader as it should be risky. Also CF and Overcome don't need to and I want to follow the same.
Please help
Thanks

[Q] CM Kernel?

The question probably doesn't belong here but unfortunately I couldn't find what I wanted to know elsewhere. I've seen that there is a CM port kernel in the kernel list but what does a CM port kernel actually do? Can you install Cyanogenmod ROM with it? Sorry for the basic question but it would very nice if somebody could help me out here!
The kernal fixes some problems in the Roms is what I read? I'm not sure if you can install it with or without it.
You can use the kernel, if you have installed the T700 cm-11.0 build from eousphoros:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/orig-development/unofficial-cyanogenmod-11-android-4-4-4-t2835170
BG, Nvertigo
Thanks guys!
So I need to flash the ROM first and then the Kernel?
Yes. You will also need to root again the rom isn't rooted.

Yes it does, but it requires a custom kernel (if you want as close to stock as possible take the SuperStock G935F)

It works without custom kernel! You have to root with cf auto root. Then unroot with supersu but dont restore original boot.img! It seems that magisk at least needs a custom boot.img....

You only need a kernel. Not a rom...
Search for a stock like kernel for your phone

I assume you have a custom kernel wirh permissive selinux installed?
Sent from my SuperMan powered SM-G930F
Yes, apparently so, although I didn't do it on purpose. I have no idea about flashing kernels and such.
For reference, the ROM I used is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557353
Currently running Magisk v6 with AlexisRom v7 (with Arter97 kernel) on SGS6. No issues.
Note 4 N910U, stock MM 6.0.1 PH1 installed Phh's superuser, Magisk V6, and topjohnwu's Xposed 86.5, all working flawlessly here.
Custom kernel is not installed as AP is not currently available in the region I reside, and not interested in PKM, so stock kernel fit my requirement well.
Can anyone help me? I have NOTE 3 - stock. What type of kernel?
I'm trying to use desesperadamete magisk in a note 4 N910C custom rom / android 5.1 kernel but get no root access. Agleum could give me a light?
