Updated my gear 1 to tizen and also my note 8 Ltd to 4.2.2 using the official Germany dom. ...
Watch pairs with phone both showing code but then......nothing.......tries to connect to watch and fails.....
am I missing something
please help cos right now I hate Samsung so much for making this gear not work
I had that happen while trying to flash a custom recovery and failing which resulting in the watch hard resetting itself. My phone would recognize and pair with the watch but it would go in an endless connecting spree. The solution is to go into your Gear manager and gear plugin app info on the phone or tablet and just clear the data. Or you could just uninstall/reinstall the app and it should do the trick.

I installed the android wear google app to check it out. After uninstalling it, reinstalling and uninstalling again, wiping cache including play services cache. The aformentioned in the title just wont go away! Any suggestions or insights? I have the 64gb Turbo.
Does it say "boot loop sync" if it does then you have developer options on. Turn that off and the message will go away.
Wait, do you even have a wear device do connect to? You have to have a watch of some type for it to connect to anything.
It will always show in your notification bar when it is trying to connect to a watch one you have Bluetooth turned on.
I'm assuming you don't have a watch which leads me to the most important question, why are you installing android wear if you don't have a wear device connected?
I have a chinese clone bt watch but it doesnt use android wear. I installed the app to check it out for i will be getting a wear compatible watch soon. The watch is currently connected to my phone but the android wear connecting notification is still there. And i do not have debugging enabled.

You answered your own question. If it's not compatible with android wear then wear is still going to be searching for a device to connect to

I did not have this issue when i first got the watch. I use a bt notification app and it syncs through that app. I installed wear a couple weeks after abd did not have this issue until after i uninstalled the wear app.
ok since no one else has helped I will bump this up again.I uninstall Android wear and all the other Bluetooth applications I tried with the watch I turn the Bluetooth off so nothing should be paired and I wiped Google Play services cache restart and its still trying to connect android wear.

Why don't you post this in the android wear section? If you uninstalled android wear and it's off your phone I don't see how android wear can be requesting access unless there's a setting on your watch

I have factory reset my watch to reconnect with a new Lenovo Vibe X2
The android wear app sees the phone and it is listed but when I click it fails to connect.
I am getting a message saying:
"Unable to pair with G Watch R 31B9. Incorrect PIN or password"
There is no way to enter any PIN since this should be automatically set by the Android wear app.
Any ideas?

Yes, did a data wipe and a full uninstall and reinstall.
Try adb to watch
adb shell am start -a android.bluetooth.adapter.action.REQUEST_DISCOVERABLE
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
and see if it will allow you to connect this way

The same thing happened to my with a Honor 3C that was previously paired with the watch and the cleaning data and then cache of Android Wear app in the phone solve the problem!
I had issues pairing with my Sony Xperia Z3 compact as well. Did a full reset of the watch without it helping. Had to turn off "stamina mode" which is a power saving feature on the phone to make the pairing work. Don't ask me why, but that helped me.
Last week i had the same problem (again), but this time after upgrading my Honor 3C! I try all the solutions I could find on the net, but none have solved... so after 2 days of trying everything (I even factory reset my phone and watch) I solved the problem... so you could try this!
1 - reset your watch;
2 - pair with other device (not your phone) like a tablet (I pair mine with my tablet);
3 - wait until the watch get set;
4 - go to the configuration menu on the watch and select bluetooth connection;
5 - put your phone bluetooth on and in visibility mode;
6 - wait until the watch find the phone and pair with him;
7 -with the phone and watch get paired, reset the phone;
8 - pair with the phone via android app!
I know that is a little confusing and with a lot of step, but in my case solved the problem since this way the phone received the correct pin from the watch, allowing for connecting with android wear app!
Hello,
I just bought Gear VR today and I connected it to my Samsung Galaxy S6 (6.0.1). I have successfully installed Oculus software and downloaded some apps, however when I connect my phone to the VR headset, I only see the black screen. When I remove the phone from the headset, it says "Calibrating Gear VR..." after which an X appears in the corner, and doesn't allow me to do anything. I have to force restart my phone as it doesn't respond to any other function.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Samsung Gear VR services, Oculus Home etc. but it didn't help. I also did a factory reset for my phone, to no avail. I've also spent many hours looking for a solution, but nothing works for me.
I am not sure whether it's my phone or my Gear VR headset, but something is not right. It seems that my phone is unable to run Oculus Home (or whatever it's supposed to run) when I connect it to the headset. I hear that "connect sound", but then the screen goes black and I can only restart it by holding volume down and power buttons.
Could you please tell me what to do?
Thanks!
I've found a workaround, if anyone reads this.
I made it work, not as it's intended to work, but all functions are working and that's fine for me. I basically enabled developer mode for Gear VR service which allows Oculus apps to be run without the headset. Then I connected it to the headset, which is then recognized as a mouse, allowing you to use headset's controls and touchpad.

Sure!
First, I downloaded SideloadVR. You need to create an apk that has your device ID and install it. So go to Google Play Store, download the app and then follow instructions to build the apk. After you build it, download it and install in your device. Doing this will allow you to enter developer mode for Gear VR apps (developer mode = running VR apps without headset).
After you're done installing it, go to Settings -> Applications -> Applications Manager and look for Gear VR Service. Tap on Storage, then select Manage Storage option. You will see a few things in the new menu, and now you need to tap 6 times on VR Service Version and developer mode should be enabled.
When you do that, you can go to your Oculus app and Enter VR, and it should work. You can also run pretty much any other VR app (that's not intended for Gear VR) this way.
I am not sure if I explained it well, but please let me know if it worked for you. If not, I'll be glad to help you as much as I can.

This is good information, I used it to get mine going in my note4 which has been an endless struggle. Only problem I'm having now is my track pad won't work and my phone isn't saying mouse connected. Is there a way to enable the mouse function when I connect it?

I don't know if you know this, but when you connect your phone to Gear VR, the phone screen light is controlled by the light/proximity sensor built-in in Gear VR (between the lenses and above them) and not of phone. So the screen lights up only when you wear it or cover this sensor by hands or something.

I tried that. The app had to update, before it would go to the pairing screen.
Yeah I just flashed android wear to solve my problem, I held off as long as I could cause I know the difference in OS. I might have compatibility that teizen didn't have, but now I have the battery drain that comes with wear.

First of all, please excuse my English...
I want to connect my Gear2 Neo to my "Huawei P20 lite" (Android 8 not rooted). Unfortunately, on my search in Google I only found very old instructions, which didn't work for me. I suspect it is because these instructions use an older Android version and the apps included do not work on my device. Unfortunately, I haven't taken care of such things at all in the last few years, but I can still remember that the XDA developers always had a solution for almost everything.
Can you help me out here?

While Tizen is on your watch it is not possible to pair it. You should install android wear to your watch, then you will be able to pair it with your Huawei phone.

It has the Android OS 6.0.1 and wear version is 1.5.0.2884951 if that can help you guys at all.
Cheers
Almost same problem here. Have Gear 2 with the latest software on it(the BOA). It won't pair neither with Samsung or other manufacturer. The only time that pairs is when i've tryed with an older version of android wear on my sony z1 but when showing the updating message, it freezes like that. Pls help people!
Hey, I just got an LG Stylo 3 and cant get my gear 2 neo to connect. I can connect via phone bluetooth, but wear cant find phone and the when I try to connect from the watch the watch wont find the phone. I can answer calls through the watch only. I have the old patch for gear version 2.1.14052101. Any help is appreciated.
Any backdoors to get this smart watch to work with newer Samsung phones yet? Or a way to use an older Samsung gear on newer Samsung's without being forced to update? Have a note 9 I want to use this watch with but thus far no luck

Yeah, there is an old version of Android Wear that works with the Gear 2 Neo. I installed it twice this week. A lot of stuff works, some doesn't.
Some big stuff that works:
• Google Fit App
• Heartbeat
• Pedometer
• Google Authentication
• media controls (I've used Spotify, TuneIn, Google Music), volume control
• notifications, app options (example, delete an email)
• speaker (tested with Google Music → Play on Wear → Sync)
You'll need Samsung Odin, just search and download from whichever site.
I rooted before installing AW. Not sure if I needed to do that but it took 2 minutes.
Go to watch settings and see if you have firmware ending in NE5. If you have any other version, you need a stock NE5 firmware. One of mine had NE5 and one did not. If you have trouble finding a copy that isn't behind a paywall or something else stupid, just send me a message and I'll upload it to Google Drive (I can't post links yet).
Once you have stock NE5 firmware flashed to the device, download the file "R381XXU0BNE5rootfs_root.tar" from this thread and flash it also - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2773803
Then download the Android Wear file from this post and flash it last - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73542831&postcount=4
The watch will boot into a menu. Select "reboot" and then "system". Give it a few minutes and you should be good to go.
For each file you need to install (stock NE5, root, AW 1.5), follow these steps.
Flashing firmware with Odin:
1. Connect the device to your PC and open Odin.
2. Hold down the button until the watch restarts (the menu will appear, don't select reboot just keep holding the button).
3. When the logo appears, tap the button 5 times.
4. Tap the button once to select "download" and long press the button. The device should be in "download mode".
5. In Odin, click "AP" and select the firmware file.
6. Verify the default options "auto reboot" and "f. reset time" are enabled. Press start.

I disagree. Biktor's AW ROM worked great on my Neo, for years. I had the best luck using the Beta 3 version.

I reverted my Neo to Tizen from AW, last night and paired it with my Verizon branded, Snapdragon Note 9. No pairing issues. I used the same Samsung Wearable app that I used to pair the Fit2 Pro, Sport and S3. It's seriously old school, compared to the Gear Sport or Gear S3, but works fine.
Can not connect gear 2 neo to huawei p30 android 9.
Even i flash with custom android rom in my gear but no luck can not detect gear on my p30.
Any expert here who can do it..

I just dug out my Neo, and I was all set to enjoying my watch until I ran across Google Wear. I am running on a Nexus 6p and Android Gear worked just fine. Not so much with Google Wear. So where can I find a apk that will put me back to being able to make use of the Neo. Not ready to invest in a new watch, and Tizen is not feasible since I am not playing with a Sumsung phone.
I have a gear 2 neo running Android wear 1.5.0.2884951 and Google play services 8.7.01. It connects nicely for notifications and Spotify/media controls for my LG v40.
Unfortunately only one phone app was able to push it's extension app over to the watch. I have been trying to adb sideload (install not push) some older APK files, that appear to complete 100%, but never showup on the watch.
Any ideas?

For a non- Samsung phone, you should use the Beta 3 version of Biktor's Android Wear ROM.
