Tasker: cant get Silent-Mode with Tasker! (OP 3T with Android 7) - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

I cant get the Silent mode (only Vibration) with Tasker on my Oneplus 3t.
Everytime i select a taske set Volume to 0, the Volume is set about 15 %.
(Slider is down)
I dont want to use the Side-Slider. Silent-Mode should automatically Start in the morning and end after work.

you're not alone. Same here, no solution.

I was just about to do a chat with OP support but I guess I can forget that since I found the answer. I think that's the only thing I don't like so far, but the slider is nice.

It probably has to do with the fact that there is a slider. OOS probably checks the position of the slider to determine what mode it should be set as. Unfortunate, since I used to have Tasker automate it, but I've learned to use the slider, and honestly have found it to be more useful than Tasker could be. I can silence the phone without even turning on the screen and even do it without taking my phone out of my pocket. All you have to do is get into a habit of using the thing.

Sound Profiles

This issue has plagued me since the Droid 3 (didn't plague my T-Mobile HTC devices such as the G1, MyTouch Slide, or G2)...
What I want:
Hold the volume down button and the volume goes from max down to VIBRATE, and then down to silent (if you hold it long enough).
What I have:
Hold the volume down button and the volume goes from max down to VIBRATE or SILENT (depending on audio setting).
I am currently using a sound profile toggle, but that messes up my notification settings. Is there any program out there that you are all using that works as I want it to work?
When I sleep or am at work, I need silent.
When I am in other "quieter" locations I need vibrate.
When I am out and about I need the settings at their loudest.
Why does it not work this way out of the box? Why must we choose between silent or vibrate.
did you try just passing the volume down button multiple times instead of holding It?

Yes. Does this work on your phone? Does it go:
Silent > Vibrate > Volume Minimum to Volume Maximum?
Ok. I admit, it does not. I seriously thought it did. I think Motorola made the vibrate setting an option instead of having a vibrate mode, so the phone is simply either on sound or silent.

Check out settings profiles lite, it won't be exactly what you're looking for by using the volume key but the end result should be the functionality you're going for.
I have three profiles right now on mine, they're easily toggled from a widget on the home screen. I have: Work - all silent except ringer (wife calls me on that line rather than a work line) Church - all on silent/vibrate and then Normal for outside of those other two scenarios. You can configure it to do other settings as well, but it'd at least do the basic you're going for.
I just use SilentToggleWidget. Kind of a pain, but this IS the sort of problem that can be solved by careful application of CyanogenMod
I gotta say that Blackberry at least did that right, yeah I said Blackberry!
I'm in so many situations where I want it to know someone called/txt'd but I don't need it to interrupt conversation with a ring. Seems like it should be standard but even my D1 couldn't do that.

Indeed. If we get fastboot files soon, I'm going to try to see if I can manage to make a port of CM 7.2 until we get CM9 running stable, but at this rate, it looks like we might have a pretty stable port of CM9 first.

Actually, it COULD. Then they updated the software, and the ability went away ...
Of course, then I installed CM and got LEDs when the screen was on AND my silent/vibrate options...

Yea, at the moment I'm waiting on fastboot files until I start flashing away. The work everybody is doing at the moment is great, but I need the phone for work, so... it needs to work!

Vibrate only?

This probably has some simple solution my lame google-fu can't find, but I only want notifications to trigger the vibrate function when my phone is in vibrate mode. Right now, it's all the time or never. Is there any way to set it up so it only vibrates in vibrate mode? They quit doing it when I turned the vibrate function off and then back on for both my email and kik.

Okay, 50 people have viewed this and nothing? There's got to be a way to set this up, it worked that way when I got it, there ought to be a way to go back to it.

Sommetimes it doesent work

I have an S3. When I start some profiles with" hour condition to start", sometimes it doesnt make the activity. The strange thing I have seen is that in this smartphone there arent showed the "variable" as menĂ¹ on the top. (While in another phone it happens) Why?
Thanks
Set 'Reliable Alarms' to Always.
To show variables, disable beginner mode.

Profile Problems with Android 8.1

I recently picked up a pixel 2 and its been updated to android 8.1. I've noticed that my profiles that are triggered by wifi connection will not stay active. They do activate when the phone connects to the AP initially but then a few mins later the profile is not active despite still being wifi connected. This happens with any wifi access point. I've reinstalled, checked accessibility and admins settings...everything looks good.
Anyone else get this problem?
Not that particular one, I have three wifi profiles and two more that check for wifi connected and all of those work as designed.
I am having volume issues changing with night/day, earphone volume not working. I use a locale plugin to change brightness profiles based on sunrise/set that sometimes don't change on time.
I have three profiles for different earphones, one wired, two BT that change volumes with a linked profile for each that lowers volume when the song title / artist is read from Play Music, then goes back to normal during the song for that particular earphone. Finally I have notification, ringer, system, alarm volumes that changed based on sleep or awake triggered by Sleep as Android tracking. Biggest issue is having notification and ringer volumes at varying different levels since the are linked in the Settings, Sound menu.
I've tried G+ Tasker Community, but no complete solution. One suggestion was to make sure "Restore Settings" was not checked in the profile settings for each that helped on one sound profile but not others. I'm still on the quest.

Have you checked if wifi is always one in standby/sleep mode? Maybe the update had reset this setting and the wifi connection get lost as soon as the Pixel goes into standby/sleep mode. Tasker will then execute the exit task and if you've set up a cool down timer for the profil, the start task will not start directly when you wake up your phone.

An excellent suggestion! wifi sleep mode is no longer a user option in the 8.1 interface, however we still can set the wifi sleep mode via ADB which i went ahead and did. No love

One bug so far with my device...power button

So recieved the device this morning, everything all good coming from a X2 Pro, however one weird issue I currently have (am on latest firmware) is that the holding the power button does nothing regardless of how long I hold it for, so I can't turn it off or restart. Double tapping it works fine and pressing once to unlock etc, so it's not a hardware issue, is anyone else having this? Firmware is CPH2305_11_A.16
Welcome to android 12 --- volume up + power (2s hold) = the new power button .... don't ask... google did it!
I'm guessing Google think people don't switch their phones off.
Very annoying

Actually this is OPPO's fault.
On Pixel 6 Pro "power key to launch assistant" can be disabled and then power menu is back when you long-press power key.
On Find X5, the option just disables assistant launch and no option to restore power menu...
That's so annoying and unnecessary. I'm also struggling to find a vibrate only mode. I can't believe a 1075 quid handset can't do the basics.

There is...
In the notification quick access it's the bell. That turns on silent mode. If you long press to go into the options one of the tick boxes is to vibrate on silent mode. So that's your vibrate only. Once it's set you can literally just then use the bell quick button to go between ring and vibrate

Thanks. That's helpful. Is it possible to pull this onto the home screen as a toggle rather than swipe down each time from to access?
Cheers
