Kali Nethunter Installation Gone (Insanely) wrong! Help me fix pls - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hi. I wanted to install Kali NetHunter on my OP3T
I read this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/development/kernel-kali-nethunter-oneplus-3t-t3507816
On my phone I already installed TWRP and SuperSu previously
Since I'm noob to install Kali this is what I did:
To install kali nethunter I just flashed nethunter-generic-arm64-kalifs-full-rolling and kernel-nethunter-oneplus3t-marshmallow together
I BOOTED THE PHONE ONCE BUT THE KALI ANIMATION STARTS AND AFTER THAT THE SCREEN WAS STUCK WITH THE KALI LOGO. AFTER THAT MY PHONE REBOOTED AND I BOOTED IN RECOVERY MODE (IT TOOK ALOT OF TIME)
I booted my phone from recovery and it worked. But I didn't have the kali app.. I only got some random penetration apps (just a few) and the wifi did not work..
And then I tought "Oh ****! I messed up my brand new phone..my mother will kill me!""
So I got back to Recovery mode and used the backup I created before flashing kali (In the backup I included all the default folders +System)
Now the backup is stuck at 99%
PLS HELP ME I'M IN THE TOTAL ****
p.s. Explain to me so that I can understand ^^

Suggestion and Help

Hello to all
im used to modding of google nexus (all models), since I took this op3t I have only problems....basic problems, need some help!
this is my way:
unlocked bootloader
flashed latest twrp, and make a full backup
all wipe cache, dalvik, data and system
flash resurrection remix, opengapps x64 micro, supersu
reboot
whenever I try to reboot it always comes back on the screen TWRP, where i am wrong?
I tried to flash the rom via adb sideload, but on reboot tells me: os absent or not installed, but the flash result was ok.
then I noticed that putting the TWRP recovery, internal memory I went from 64 gb to 20 gb, its normal?
I kindly ask a little help or if there is a guide for this phone, it is impossible that I can not flash a custom rom on my op3t?
thanks for help or suggestions
About the storage I do not know, about the booting into TWRP I had the same problem.
How I fixed it was turn it off completely (like 10-15 seconds pushing the power button) and then start the phone. It should then boot from the ROM.

Disable encryption on MiMax2 after Dot OS Install

Hello All,
I was on Stock MIUI 9 Global ROM (rooted with TWRP 3.2.1.0 OFFICAL) which was getting slower by the day. One day all of a sudden, I started getting ads on my lockscreen which was the final straw. So I installed dot OS 7.1.1 for Mi Max2. When setting up dot OS, I setup the lock screen pattern without knowing that it was turning ENCRYPTION ON.
I got bad sound in dot OS 7.1.1 ROM (tinny sound with echo), I was not happy so I did a full wipe of all partitions EXCEPT internal storage. and then installed Xiaomi EU ROM 9.5 Stable.
The issue:
TWRP and Normal Android BootUp on Xioami EU asks me for entering pattern every single boot. It asks for: Enter pattern to start android. On TWRP recovery boot: TWRP asks me to enter pattern and then decrypts phone.
How can I DISABLE Encryption without doing a full wipe + format of data partion?
Just to confirm: I remember the pattern, my phone works perfectly in Xiaomi EU ROM, I just want to disable encryption without doing a full WIPE+FORMAT+SETUP of my phone.
Thanks.

Honestly I didn't find any OTHER WAY without a Full Wipe!
TBH.. I'm kinda glad that someone else had this scenario.. :cyclops:
(Cause I had)
Here's how I overcame this issue..
1. First I Cleared everything on my phone using twrp and wiped everything **literally everything**
2. Then using fastboot on my PC I did this:
fastboot boot -recovery-( fastboot boot twrp.img)
[This will temporarily boot into TWRP]
3. And I wiped everything all over again
[Don't ask me why I did that but it worked for me]:silly:
4. Installed TWRP again using fastboot
5. Flashed a new ROM!
Hope this helps you!
Cheers mate!:fingers-crossed:
Thanks for that. I do NOT want to do a full wipe as I don't have access to Windows PC to do this (I'm on a MAC and don't have adb and drivers for MI MAX2).
TBH, the pattern is very annoying especially on restart as I have to wait for it and then wait some more for restart.
Worse case scenario, I'll a full backup of /data internal storage to an SD CARD, WIPE ALL Parittions and try again.
I'm almost tempted to reinstall dotOS and then NOT select a pattern when setting it up, you think that'll work?

Thanks a lot!
I was having a problem installing couple of ROMs with hanging on logo screen.
I was wiping everything and nothing was helping until I formatted data partition in twrp, it is not only wipe, it is format where you have to confirm writing 'yes' if you really want to.
Then everything started to work!
Thanks again!

[SOLVED!] Can't install Magisk without bootloop

Scroll down over this post to see anwer!
Hey there! I just got my Xiaomi Mi8 from HK Goldway at Aliexpress. It came with its bootloader already unlocked and a Global ROM flashed.
I wanted to install Magisk but failed horribly . I've already done that to several phones (my last one was a Moto X Play, and it worked without major complications). But with this one, it seems I can't get past the bootlogo.
Stock Fastboot image used:
dipper_global_images_V9.5.13.0.OEAMIFA_20180714.0000.00_8.1_global
This is what I've tried so far:
First try
Flashed TWRP for Mi8 version 0711.
Flashed Magisk.
Got a bootloop.
Reflashed stock image via Fastboot.
Second try
Booted (not flashed) TWRP.
Tried to install latest global weekly from this thread.
Also got a bootloop.
Reflashed stock image via Fastboot.
Third try
I thought that those flashable ZIP firmwares were too small for them to be a full-fledged OS. So I went and downloaded this other one. Global version.
I read somewhere that I needed to format data before flashing a new image, so I did.
Booted TWRP.
Formated data (not Wipe)
Installed that ZIP from TWRP and booted correctly.
Booted TWRP again and flashed Magisk.
Got bootloop.
Back to stock image via fastboot.
Last try
Booted TWRP.
Formatted data.
Installed MIUI via TWRP.
Without rebooting, flashed Magisk and no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip.
This got past bootlogo ("Unlocked" message changed to "powered by Android") but got stuck there. Not booting at all.
Right now I'm back to the last try, booting MIUI successfully but without Magisk nor no-verity-opt-encrypt.
I kinda have no more ideas left. I understand this is a new device but I can't understand why people claim the have been able to install Magisk and I can't! Other thoughts were, maybe they were running MIUI 10 Beta and it only works with that version? I'm unsure about that.
Can someone lend me a hand? What am I missing?
Thank you!!
EDIT: FIX!
Over here, user @richardyusan helped me out with an extra step.
What I did:
Installed Magisk V16.7.
Installed DM-VERITY AND FORCED ENCRYPTION DISABLER.
Performed fastboot format userdata.
Rebooted.
And I got my phone booting with Magisk Installed!
Even though I couldn't install any module, (every install claimed I needed Magisk v15+). I read some threads and with a Magisk Direct re-install (from its app) I got Magisk downgraded to v16 and everything worked perfectly!
Hope this works out for everyone having this problem!
have you tried to use Magisk 16.4,
if not, try to follow this guide:

Thank you for the fast reply!
I followed that guide and tried these steps:
fastboot boot mi8-twrp-3.2.2.img
Unencrypted via Pattern
Flashed Magisk v16.4 + DM verity disabler file
Reboot
But I'm still stuck at "powered by Android" bootlogo.
Normally it boots within 5 seconds but now it's taking forever. I'll wait a few minutes to see what happens.
I'm attaching some screenshots of the install process.

Ok,
but if you install Magisk 16.4, don't install also DM verity disabler.
DM verity disabler is needed if you don't want to root (see poin 14 in the linked guide).
Hope it works...

If I only flash Magisk 16.4, then phone shows "Powered by Android" and instantly reboots into stock recovery.
Only way to get it back booting, is performing fastboot flash boot boot.img from stock dipper_global_images_V9.5.13.0.OEAMIFA_20180714.0000.00_8.1_global image
I read somewhere about official and unofficial bootloader unlock. I didn't unlock the bootloader myself. Maybe it has something to do with it?
PS: Anyone had any luck using Magisk with MIUI 9.5.13?

Exactly that. Maybe we'll need to wait for a supported Magisk version. I'm still wondering what's the difference between our Mi8's that some can get Magisk working and some not. ?
I am running Magisk stable and tmiui 10 from Xiaomi. Eu without any problems.
I have a Mi 8 se and i install the eu rom boot the phone , reboot to twrp wipe and factory reset and installed magisk 16.4 .this is how works for me
i have the same problem too..when using china stable rom 16.7 magisk can be installed successfully tried many times...
flashing global version seems to have this issue...
tried all this steps too but no luck in global rom...

Well maybe the critical step is to wipe everything, including System.
Did you Format anything instead of Wipe this last try?
Also, could you please share a link from that working MIUI rom?

I just checked and no. If I go to Google Settings -> Voice, Voice Match is disabled because "This feature is currently unavailable for this language". Even though it's set to English UK. Maybe there is some Magisk Module to enable it?
Thanks, followed these steps and it got magisk going on the recent global release. Only difference was i had to use fastboot erase userdata.

HELP!!!

I was rooting a device for the first time, a new tablet SM-T385i. I got twrp and installed it using Odin(AP). From there I could boot into twrp recovery. I put the Supersu file into my downloads folder and booted fro the first time into twrp. I couldnt find any of the file folders in the install section so I went to mount and checked system. Still nothing. I tried to check data but didnt work. i panikced and went to reboot system. It got stuck on the boot screen over and over, showing the samsung logo. then i booted into twrp and wiped the data. Then i reinstalled twrp and i could see my tab on my pc now. Put supersu again and flashed with twrp. iT SAID MIGHT TAKE SOME TIME BUT then it just switched off. i TRIED TO BOOT INTO TWRP BUT FAILED. i went to the downloader again and installed twrp again. still shows the boot logo and switches off again. at this point i can go to the downlader and i can see the logo thats all. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Search your rom/other one (custom OS) and install it via TWRP. After that (when your rom booted normally) - try to install Magisk.

problems with roms

(Im spanish, sorry if my english has errors or is really bad )
Hi, i've got a problem, I spent all day trying to fix a wrong rom installation but nothing works.
I was using Revolution Remix 8.6.2 and I wanted to try the new official hentaiOS, so I made a complete twrp backup of everything and I copied it to my computer, I wiped system, data, dalvick, and cache, and I flash hentaiOS rom zip. It was a normal bootloop so I just wiped all and restored the backup, but it didnt work (System had magisk with some modules but nothing happend in the previous reboots), so I rebooted into recovery to flash the clean RROS zip and try restoring only some parts of the backup to see which partition was causing the bootloop, but I was unable to boot into recovery, I used mi flash with miui 12 fastboot rom, it worked so I flashed TWRP again and tried to install RROS but nothing works.
I already tried with RROS 8.6.2, 8.6.1 and 8.6.0 but no one works, now Im gonna try with ArrowOS (It didn't work) but I want to use RROS, what can I do?
